The only way to hurt or get NBC/Peacocks attention is to cancel subscription (If paying monthly) &/or not to purchase streaming option next year. Unfortunately most of us will continue to subscribe.

I don’t understand—was all this just because they only gave him three minutes to talk about his product? I was expecting something much bigger, even a real scandal.

I get that he’s upset, but in business, decisions are made that not everyone agrees with.

At the end of the day, they have their key figures—the ones who keep the sponsors happy. If he caused friction within that group, it’s no surprise they let him go. It’s a shame because he did a great job covering the races, but these things happen.

No dude , theirs so much more . Watch the YouTube video

Oh man, I'm a huge DB fan and would choose him over everyone in the booth aside from Weege.  I also grew up watching him race with him in Nor Cal and Central Cal.  While this may feel good in the moment and he definitely has the hard core fans on his side, I can't help but think this revenge video was a mistake and he is going to regret it.

It’s a mistake on DB’s part. He will live to regret it, I get that in the moment it feels like exposing something feels like the right thing to do but corporations always hunker down and deal with these things and the individuals come out worse.

Plus, what he is complaining about is that they gave him three minutes on a tv broadcast to promote a new company. That’s pretty big an opportunity for a company. He should have swallowed his pride and used it as a springboard.

I think most can agree that Daniel does a great job in any role on the broadcast team. I certainly would prefer him in any role, as he deserves to be on TV, with his knowledge of the sport. And he worked hard and has great delivery and seems very good with how he speaks etc. But I can understand the view of NBC too. Leigh is a big name for them and I'm sure that is important to them, big picture. He did the Olympics and various other motorsports. RC is obviously a known name in the sport and that likely resonates with viewers. I'm sure Monster being the title sponsor also probably has influence on RC being there too. That's just business and things like that happen.  Also, I can understand how on TV they are probably catering more towards casuals than people like us. And that's where those 2 probably win out over Daniel, who is the preferred choice of the enthusiast crowd. In addition, maybe Daniel pissed someone off or said something out of line, beyond what we know. Who knows. But I'm just not going to let 1 accusation change everything I've ever known about RC. I've had several interactions with RC, through my job and he was super cool and probably 1 of the nicest people I've ever dealt with, in MX. So while I wish Daniel could be on TV, I'm also not going to turn on RC, even if those 2 have an issue. That's between the people involved and doesn't change my opinion of either. I don't think it's fair to take 1 person's accusations and overreact, like I've seen people on Twitter, IG etc attacking RC over it.

Everyone is hanging on too hard to the RC/DB track banter from Arlington.  RC def crossed a line and was being a dick. However this is going to be very easy for RC to side step. He can just say “I was kidding. Daniel and I joke like that all the time.”

I wish everyone would focus more on the Leigh Diffy and Ricky Carmichael tag team duo of bullying Daniel Blair in various ways to make him want to quit.

The track side stuff wasn’t cool but it’s too easy to dismiss. The bullying bullshit isn’t as easy to look past. Diffy and RC suck and I hope their karma payment gets paid sooner than later.

It would be a mistake if he was still interested in working for NBC, but that’s the thing, they disrespected the guy over and over so many times that he doesn’t want to go back. He shouldn’t regret a thing.

And three minutes to someone the moto fans aren’t extremely familiar with, ones that didn’t at one point announce multiple races for the series, would be significant, yes. They could have had him on for 15-20 and I’m sure he would have kept it as professional as he’s been for the last two years, but they wanted to be dicks about it.

Whether I think he is good at it or not, I'm pointing out that NBC clearly has their reasoning for him being there. Judging strictly on knowledge of the sport and ability to speak on camera, Daniel does both and is a great choice. But it seems pretty clear that NBC still views him as somewhat of a nobody. I don't have to agree or like the choice but I sort of understand where they are coming from. I think they want Leigh who is 1 of their high-profile people at that position, alongside a legend of the sport. That's their decision to weigh RC's name value against his ability in the booth.

They lean heavily into the GOAT thing & with Stew its FMOTP. Even Brayton "Daytona Champion". Every guy but JT they lean into an accomplishment or status thing

I get that. They’re production direction is clearly flawed and retarded though.

Endlessly placating to the “new fans” of the sport with low information 3000ft level view of it the entire time when we are all yelling for a better product year after year and they keep doing the same shit ass stuff.

I have nothing but respect for RC’s accomplishments, his riding, and work ethic, but that’s as far as it will go. Very disappointing to see how this all played out. RC is terrible in the booth and really has not gotten better. His legacy allows him to stay there even though he butchers it week in and week out. He doesn’t seem to be receptive of criticism either. He does better in a podcast type of environment. Lost respect for Diffey too. I appreciate Blair finally being transparent about this.

Carmichael PR team is busy at work. Easiest way to get blocked by RC? Comment that as a kid he was an idol and now as an adult I think he’s trash. Stiffy probably won’t be far behind  as @jk105 stated, don’t meet your idols

That video is only a small part of this. There is tons Daniel talks about in his latest video. The RC factor is a small part of it.

What’s clear is NBC is clueless when it comes to casting commentators and color analysts. They think people will tune in cause Leigh is a big name?  I can promise no one has ever turned on an event because he was calling it.

‘But he’s done the Olympics!’

Yea no one is watching that for the commentary either or could probably name an event they remember one of his calls from. NBC acts like Leigh is fucking Al Michaels for fucks sake.

NBC is Dumb, Ricky is a petulant child and that’s an insult to a lot of kids out there, and Leigh is a dick

My takeaway (and I could be wrong) is that Daniel blames NBC and Leigh (75-25 he said) for the job BS and is more hurt by RC’s behavior since he looked up to him and considered him a friend.

Just my opinion after watching it. That was a tough one to watch, DB seemed pretty bummed.

The same network that employees Diffey, WC and ran out the idiot Rutledge. Does that surprise anyone that Daniel Blair is not welcome on the broadcast.

I understand and agree with that. The back and forth on the track in Arlington is the least of RC’s worries but it’s what is being talked about most. I feel like he can easily sweep that away. The bigger focus should be on RC and Diffy basically teaming up against DB. That kind of behavior can’t be spun so easily.

Yea I agree there are a lot of people commenting that think it’s only the Arlington video.

Do I think this will change anything? No. But maybe this won’t be the last time we hear something like this and Blair speaking out might give others the inclination to tell similar stories.

Well, he did a pretty good job regardless lol

If you listen to the whole thing, it’s pretty obvious that Bondo has a lot to do with this as well.  DB mentions his name several times.  Sure he may be the producer tasked with carrying out NBC’s directive, but he deserves to be raked over the coals as well.

RC and Leigh managed to catch more heat than Rutledge Wood, and that’s really saying something.

FWIW, most fans of other motorsports (IMSA, Indy, etc.) ALSO hate Leigh’s announcing.  It’s a pretty common statement.

Do I think this will change anything? No. But maybe this won’t be the last time we hear something like this and Blair speaking out might give others the inclination to tell similar stories.

My hunch is that Leigh has some dirt out there on him. He's worked with a lot of people, so if his ego is how DB portrays it, this probably isn't the first time. I'd guess there's less about Ricky.

I don't think Leigh has done anything spectacular to viewership, which was obviously what he was brought in for. I wouldn't undersell what a massive viewer disapproval could potentially do for his future with the sport.

I just don’t want RC to “address it” with a comment like “Listen, this week I caught a lot of grief online for joking with Daniel Blair in a video. We are friends and people just misinterpreted the video.” Which I can TOTALLY see/hear RC saying that. What needs to be addressed and focused on more than that old video is that RC and Diffy worked together to suppress DB’s career. I want to see RC try to walk that shit back.
