Exactly. There are so many things about this sport that make it so interesting, and I can tell you with 100% certainty it isn't the color of the bikes. Also, the non stop frothing over the very top guys makes it hard to watch. They're extremely talented, I get it, but so are the other 20 riders that have made it into the main.
This all started because Lee Diffy got butt hurt because DB complimented Todd Harris, someone that he admired. It shows how truly shallow Diffy is, and after all these years how miserably brutal he is as a person. I see RC as a student of Lee, and Lee taught him well.
Fuck you Lee Diffy! Moto fans never needed you.
Oh that gypsy story is G rated to what he released today it will be on you tube at 4est. Its already up on main event. It explains everything and why RDL didnt happen this weekend.
RC on the broadcast = MUTE button. NO sponsor impressions. None of what sponsors are paying him to poorly say.
Same with Diffy. Same with Ralph. Same with what's-her-name.
I still enjoy watching the racing.

let's see, we have a member of our moto-media publicly calling out some of the biggest names in our sport (RC). The fanbase overwhelming wants DB's participation in the broadcast, so of course not a single member of the moto-media reaches out to any of the involved parties to run any sort of article/expose on the situation, like "normal" media might. Yeah, this all checks out.
To be fair it hasnt even hit you tube yet. Its on the main event patreon but its not really public and its only 645am on the west coast lol
I really don't mind Leigh in the booth. He is professional and gets the job done in a rather unremarkable way. This story is not going to help win over the fan base that is already against him though. He will be out of smx as soon as his contract ends is my prediction
New user name, same shtick.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess DB would rather release the story on his own for-profit platforms rather than giving someone else the story.
I’m right there with you. And while I’m not going to say Blair is bad, I can’t say I’ve ever watched a race he was announcing and thought it was some massive improvement over anyone else. Maybe I just don’t pay enough attention.
Also some of the theories Blair’s had over the years are just ridiculous, not too long ago he was saying Jett would get bored and go to Moto GP lol.
Really? Both him and Rc are horrible. They struggle with any guys that arent top ten riders. Thats what made weege, Langston, and DB so special. They know the riders or will go get the story to know them. They put in the time to give fans the best product possible. Leigh amd rc are just fed info from other people
Personally, I think this whole thing gets made out to be worse than it is. Ricky isn’t great, but honestly it is exactly the same as any other sport. Go listen to the ex racers announcing nascar. DB is better, but not as much as people make him out to be imo. James is imo by far the best guy in the booth, and I’m not even really a James fan.
Dare I say I miss Lawrences and Tomac and couldn't care less about Will Blair and Daniel Christien?
I think the point he’s trying to make is we will get DBs side of the story but no media will touch this with a 10 foot pole to dig into the story and get comments from others. Plus you know the “pulp media” empire (along with Racer X) can’t touch it as both Weege and JT would jeopardize their spots on the broadcast team.
That’s just a bad take though, being ok with trash because other people are ok with trash?
Rc is immeasurably worse than DB
James isn’t remotely on DB’s level either.
Those guys are at like a 5th grade reading and speaking grade level. And their job is to communicate professionally and succinctly.
Clint Bowyer is the RC equivalent on the NASCAR broadcast. I have always stood by the fact that I think Ricky does a really good job on podcasts, even on Title 24 Ricky just comes across so much more relaxed and genuine.
Steve and Daniel talked about it on Pulp a while back. Steve pressed Daniel about Ricky several times but Daniel wouldn’t get into it. I don’t see why they won’t talk about it again now that Daniel is blowing the lid off everything.
The post about an upcoming post seems a bit attention whoreish ,
But I’ll log in to see it at 4 eastern
Because some of us expect more from a "professional sport" broadcast. You don't see this amateur garbage in other sports.
It's a complete shit show... the split screen, missing actual racing action, missing passes, showing clips of last weeks/race or other footage during the race, babbling trackside reporters adding nothing during the race...the list is long.
I don't watch live anymore. I FF through all the crap to the gate drops. I mostly skip over the podium interviews because it's usually a 10 words of the race and 500 words about sponsors. ...oh, and it gets muted when anyone says ...."Will...."
I don't mind Diffey, RC can be annoying sometimes....I don't really listen to them anyway. I honestly miss Ralph and Fro.
I just want to watch the freaking racing.
Pit Row
I believe DB didn’t get into it as he thought there might still be a chance to get back into the broadcast even if he said he had no interest in it anymore. Now you have him making a statement but will be shocked if anyone other thank Cooksey tried to dive into it deeper and you know he will just be doing it to take digs at DC
I get what you're saying, but at the end of the day it's a relatively boring story about common workplace politics. I don't see much of a compelling expose in the making, but maybe I'm underestimating the interest and emotion of the viewership.
Is AI good enough yet to just use voice over tools to give us Art Eckman and David Baileys voices to the words these bafoons use in real time?
I do care about what voice I hear during the broadcast, and it really bothers me that the best talent isn't in the booth.
I hope DB continues to use that as fuel to his fire to carve his own path. There's not many people in the industry that have experience as broad as Daniel. Privateer racer in MX/SX and money races around the country, Factory fill-in for Geico, AX Regional champ, brand rep, business owner, podcaster, every role in the broadcast, amateur team manager, partner in a training facility...the dude has done just about everything there is to do in the sport other than spin wrenches.
I've been a fan of DB since he was wearing LBZ gear in 450 mains in the early 2000's. Huge respect for his willingness to get out of his comfort zone, create and try new things. He's the type of guy that will excel in every single thing he puts his mind to.
I honestly can't understand why a racing resume trumps being able to speak well. No one argues Ricky's successful racing career, but he is a terrible commentator. I would much rather have an ex racer with fewer or no championships, but is able to actually articulate a decent thought every once in a while.
With that said, I think the broadcast team as a whole is better than it's ever been. I think Diffey actually does a pretty good job. If we could get a replacement for RC we would be golden. Maybe AC will be that guy one day. One can hope...
Nothing good is going to come of this for Blair I'm afraid. I don't know why the people that are in his corner didn't talk him out of it. I am not saying what he has experienced is ok, but this is just going to burn so many bridges.
The worst part about RC in the booth is his predictions. They never happen. "Watch this Leigh, he's setting him up on the inside of this next turn (rider goes outside). Oh, not that time!"
let me rephrase. i understand the frustration with it, but i also understand that nothing is going to change no matter what you, i, or anyone else does/says. thats the point im making.
They tried. Multiple attempts on Pulp when DB was on and DB declined to share more details and left it incredibly vague. Gypsy had him on for this reason and DB gave parts of the story still trying to be somewhat vague. They can't make him tell the whole story right??
In this one, the only thing he left our was the "bosses" names. I have no idea why he left those out at this point.
You never know man. Some of these threads blow up and get to the podcast shows and actually gain traction.
