I wish he'd just be consistent. One day his podium interviews sound like JH84 circa 2013 and the next he "just wants to win" and "needs to keep working hard" and doesn't have any more to say.
I appreciate the effort from the Deegan's in trying to grow the sport, even if it does come off blunt or arrogant. It's not my cup of tea, but I think I understand what their goal is. It's just a little confusing when one weekend he's guns blazing and the next, he's very short and more Dungey-esque in each interview. Pick one and commit. Side note - I do wish his TikTok's would quit popping up on my wife's screen😂
It’s all reactionary to whatever way they think the narrative winds are blowing.
I enjoy the lack of self reflection. When the entire forum is saying what a clown you are, the issues are all on their end.
Attention! We have reached 10 pages, time to start a NEW Deegan thread.

I think you meant to quote Magoofan on this one.
I can see how it might read that way but I get was Chris is saying.
I don't see why anyone should be consistent - not if we also want them to be genuine. You'll feel differently about things in different situations, so if you're being genuine, you'll also come across differently. I'm ok with that.
You can also have different objectives in different situations. In one situation, you might be messing with your opponent's head. In another, you might be reflecting on a tough ride. That's ok too.
Do we really want robots who sound the same no matter what?
You, sir, are FIRED from the internet for the following reason:
Using logic. 🤣
There are so many things that could be making him come off hot and cold week to week. None of us know for sure.
My personal opinion is he came in super confident and thought he was going to destroy everyone. After seeing JuJu’s speed it caught him off guard and his riding showed how he was feeling. Scared he wasn’t going to back up his talk. Making him ride a little timid.
Then we get to the interviews. He knew his riding wasn’t going to be able to talk his smack at the moment so he tried some verbal head games. Nothing wrong with that when you’re looking for an edge you thought you had already.
The kid went to work and he’s now wanting his interviews to reflect the hard work he’s done and the focus he has. If he wins 3 in a row I’ll bet it goes back to fuck you mother fuckers.
The kid is 19 years old, worth millions and has a HUGE career ahead of him. He's done the work and nobody just handed him wins...and he has done a lot of winning. I think he is handling all the attention very well. Some of the comments about him are just friggin weird.
I see what you're saying. I guess I'm not sold he's being genuine in either situation which is where my original frustration with comes from. I think his Dad, being a marketing genius (no sarcasm there), has taught Haiden how to behave in front of the lense to maximize views and their following. I think he's using that tactic to attempt to grow the sport, which I can respect and think it's working, but also, is frustrating when you can recognize the genuinity come through in parts of some interviews but see the act in others. Typing this I'm recognizing that I'm putting too much thought into criticizing a 19 y/o kid so I'm gonna remove myself after this one. I am excited to see how Deegz career progresses.
How many seconds does he win by at Daytona?
None because he hasn’t won there yet, only podiumed, i wish daytona was an east west.
MPJCs posts are definitely a cut above the usual chatter. 👍
Spot on ^^^
...and derangement syndrome is a real mental illness. It's on FULL display in every one of these Deegan threads.
Some of the posts in this thread are just plain creepy and weird - like the guy who thinks he can diagnose autism in the kid then talks about using a ball gag on him. Doctor, heal thyself.
That doctor-wannabe-diagnosing-while-fantasizing about young boy in bondage-dude is waaaay out there. Way...way...way...out there. As in broken rudder...no power...adrift in the Sea of Crazy...'out there'.
I mean, damn.
You know?
I'd soooo love to see him open his mouth and say that shit to Brian, you know why? Because, I know exactly what Brian would do...
"Dude, I'm going to pray for you." 😄
did people defend the idiosyncrasies of the Alessis this hard when they were the hype? i genuinely can't remember. and i don't mean the crying on the podium thing later on, that's actually pretty authentic and cool to see in a way.
Pit Row
Oh, big time. Bobby M was a huge Alessi guy
didn’t he just take the points lead
Yes, and all 3 points leaders are on star.
I just read a post that basically asked him to be "more consistent" in his podium speeches. Friggin laughable. Then if he is, he recites the same bull sh*t like everyone else does on the podium, you'll complain that he's too boring, corporate and not open enough. At least he ain't pushing god dam donuts at the races.
Soggy gets it
GooFan and 971_Fan would pay good money to have the Princess use a ball gag on them...
Your infatuation with him probably puts you first in line for that....
I feel like it can just as easily come off the other way too though. As if some of this is very forced or scripted. And it honestly sometimes feels that way. I really don't care, as I like Deegan. But I just don't get the vibe that this broad range of interviews is genuine. You can typically see excitement, frustration etc on a person. Some of the Deegan interviews come off like it's WWE. And it is what it is, I'm not commenting on it as a good or a bad thing, just an observation. I felt like the last round that seemed like a genuine response. I think he really has been frustrated with his riding and came out and rode really well on a tough, tricky track.
Now with Smith out, and Juju has lost a lot of momentum, I think HD is in the clear for the title. He just has to be smart and I think he will be. Davies has obviously been incredible too. I think that is the biggest surprise of the West. Other than that, even if Deegan has been off on a few nights, he still has shown that he is the most versatile. He can come from the back to charge to the front, he can run away with a holeshot and he has been able to go fast and avoid big crashes or big mistakes than hurt him with points. So I don't think that's underwhelming at all, really. I think his riding is actually more impressive/mature than he gets credit for. I know some people think he should just check out and win every night, based on the hype. But I like that he has shown that he can overcome adversity and deal with different pressure etc. In the 250 class (both coasts) that seems to be the main thing that most people struggle with and he has been great at that.
MPJC spot on. (IMO) Holy shit this kid can't catch a break with some people. He gets criticized for talking smack like the teenager he is, then as little bits of maturity and professionalism start sporadically kicking in he's criticized for being "inconsistent" 😆 Is he supposed to stay 19 forever ? I hope he just keeps being himself and saying whatever he's thinking at that particular time. Variety is the spice of life right ?
It's so refreshing to see rational takes in these threads. Too bad you have to wade through the cesspool to get to them. 😂
LOL! So you have to win before you can win?
No you don’t, but no one knows when he’s going to race east in the future, if the next time he races it is in the 450s, or if daytona eventually becomes an east west shootout.
