Back when James was racing, I was a fan but was ultimately disappointed when he didn't live up to his potential due to a combination of his crash or win style and then losing a lot of time due to that whole botched up Adderall thing. At some point there just seemed to be too many excuses on why things weren't working out.
For me, hearing about him stiffing his own crew might be a bigger disappointment . As Chris_Buehler mentioned...I was really getting into watching him on Peacock, but this story has taken the air out of enjoying him on the broadcast.
100% agree. Watching his podcast he made you believe he was a guy with decent morals, even though he led us on for years of a “comeback”. I always have him the benefit of the doubt about that. Now it kinda all makes sense.
Not gonna lie, seeing him on the broadcast will not be the same. I noticed when he was on a few weeks ago, he kinda seemed like he didn’t want to be there
Maybe the real neck burn was the people he forgot to pay along the way?
Video editor has the suntan and the neck on fire from filming all day in the Haines City heat, just never got paid for the gig 😅

I'm glad one side of the story is good enough for pitchforks
I'm not going to say James did or didn't pay the guy, but it seems odd that Cole would just put James on blast on social media, and not take him to court to recoup his money.
I agree, and it sounds like there's more to the story that we dont have.
Do you know how much lawyers cost and how annoying lawsuits are?
I think the fact that the producer says I wasn’t getting paid so I stopped working for him and the show has ceased to exist is pretty telling…
Possibly Cole looked at it as a way to put some pressure on James to pay up before actually doing something involving the courts ?
Or lose the 4. He is almost as bad in the pod as he is on the broadcast.
Screenshot? I don't know who Cole is?
Someone shared an IG post in a thread here on Vital a month or so ago, so unfortunately, I don't have a screenshot, and I can't remember what the thread was about, either.
Found it. This is not exactly hard evidence and we will never know details.
Heard jbone is still owed a good bit of bonus $$ from back in the day
you're not wrong but there ARE prior indications of sus character. didn't Jbone and the cole gibbs team drive down to his property to test and the guy just didnt show? there was something else that happened with a sponsor but cant remember details. oakley paid for something for him or something like that. really fuzzy memory but there were at least two things that were real sus. like if the deegans did it, we'd never hear the end of it.
You get that rockstar lifestyle when you’re the top dog at what you do.
Chase has never been faster than when he trained at the Stewart compound. Did he make mistakes? Yes, but if the last few weeks show us anything, that hasn't changed.
That season Chase was a Golden God speed wise.
well i think it's indisputable that jS7 was a massive diva when at the height of his fame. from the silly bubba's world show, getting arreseted for the impersonation of a cop, his throwing of helmets and bikes from time to time...I'm sure he was an immature extremely wealthy young man and did stupid things. I know I did in my 20s. Beyond that, the pitchforks here are a bit much. For all we know they had some sort of disagreement, settled on whatever amount of payment, but editor guy still quit. So his narrative is "I wasn't paid what I thought" and James' narrative is "Whatever. I paid him what I understood we agreed to".
Plausible? Yes. Reality? Who knows.
Pit Row
It’s very obvious a lot of people don’t understand how common it is to not be paid in business. There is pretty much nothing you can do about it either.
I'm specifically referring to an apparent repeated lack of consideration for the contributions of others to his benefit. Not the cop stuff or the Adderall or the throwing helmets. Just the DGAF when it comes to other ppl. WWJD What would Justin Brayton Do?
The other guy should have had a contract. Always get a contract.
I don't see the DGAF attitude you reference, but I understand your opinion.
