What is there a old school rule here? Everyone is mentioning guys like 40 years ago. Can we mention anyone from this era?

Euro - Everts
Aussie - Reed
US - MC

All 3 were super smooth and championship winners.

KDub is smooth and great to watch but how smooth would he be at Reeds pace? Same with RR, awesome natural talent and I'm a big fan but when he was winning races he was an animal.

Gotta throw in Townley as an honorable mention cause when he was running with RV in 07 he looked like he still had more to give.
I think Kevin still was smooth when he was beating RC. And last year when he was on Reed's pace a few times.

Nope. Effortless, but not smooth. There's nothing deceptive about Stewart's speed. Truely smooth riders don't look like they're going fast when in fact they are hauling.
Since I've only been around the sport for like 6 years (been riding my whole life though) at the pro level (spectator point of view) I wasn't really sure what the definition of smooth was. But what you mention is exactly what I thought it was.

The first time I went to Red Bud I was watching Windham ride and it looked as if he was practicing technique (kinda how the kids look at riding lessons school). I was like damn why is he going so slow. Thing his, he looked slow as shit but was passing everyone while looking like he was practicing something.. Looked like he was in slo-mo to me.

Back where I use to race, there was a guy named, Scott "Slow Poke" Yoke. Unfortunately, he never made it into the Pro Ranks, so I'm positive a majority of you have never heard of him.

Scott was by far the smoothest rider I have ever seen in my life. Anyone who has ever witnessed his effortless flow and grace on a motocross track, would also agree. His style was so smooth that his suspension NEVER, and I mean, NEVER progressed past the half stroke mark - even off the biggest of jumps! Rumor has it that one time his mechanic put a zip tie on one of his fork legs to see how much front suspension travel he was using, after draining his fork oil down to the OEM minimum requirements. After one month of riding, that zip tie only rested in the place where his forks compressed due to strapping down his bike in the back of the pick up truck.

Now, ten years later, Scott has still yet to advance out of the Beginner class, or even get his bike airborne over any sort of obstacle (hence the smoothness... of never having a harsh landing). He also carves berms without any abrupt jerking too, and his rumored to have only slid out in a corner once in his life.

Scott Yoke, is by far the smoothest rider ever.

I know he's the man with the titles and all that, but kevin and robbie beat him a time or two while going smooth.

Smoothest i've ever seen in person is kevin or robbie, but thats just me.
