I keep thinking about this with all of the deathcross threads, we didn't have all of these injuries and crashes (at this level) before 4 strokes. I know there is no going back, but it was not like this 25 years ago.
That is brutal about LLAQ, with that frequency of ambulance trips, there had to have been pauses in the racing waiting for ambulances.
Yeah it was a long day with several pauses. Track crew did a decent job clearing people when they could but 2 yesterday required backboards and delays. They took a prep break during one long pause and fixed some of the bad areas. Prep has changed each day too - today is the shallowest and easiest prep. Friday was deep and got super rough. It’s Hangtown - it is always tough to race. The downhills into the bowls turns are always brutal by mid-day. And this is nothing compared to pro prep and how it setups when they are hammer down. Perfect overcast 60f today and track should be solid all day long.
One bad trip is all it takes...
GWS!
DO NOT tame the whoops, PLEASE.
The racing is a lot better. Let it continue to come down to riders making the choice.
Do you think the injuries are worse now or just treated more seriously at the track nowadays with all the brain injury stuff that’s come out and insurance? I guess it’s way easier to make a 250f go fast than a 125, so the bikes probably do play a big part in it.

4 motos in to the day and first ambo ride. Track is tacky goodness and very fast.
My ribs are hurting just from watching it!
We had some discussions about this years back on Mototalk once the four strokes started taking over the sport. One thing I can remember is TFS was talking about was physics and how the 2 strokes bounced away unlike the four stroke that followed the rider and would pummel them into the ground. There was a lot more to it ....But in the end I believe there was some good points made in regards to motor torque, weight ect...
Dam I miss those MotoTalk days!
I found the opposite of what you said. A Lighter 2 st deflect more where a heavier 4 st hit and stayed straighter by absorbing the hit more.
Has there been any news on Jordan?
He posted he has a Punctured lung.
I would think a punctured lung means broken rib or ribs too.
He posted a punctured lung, 3 broken ribs and some spleen damage. Hell of a hit.
Try woods racing - lots of moto drop outs like me 😎
I’m a moto guy and converted to hare-scramble style racing 5 years ago. Wish I would have done it 15 years ago. I lot of moto guys in the classes ( heck Shorty comes and wrecks the Pro class sometimes) . It’s cool because it starts like a moto race and the best man wins after a set time. (70 mins for us) Basic heads up racing without check points etc.. Plus motocross bikes work just fine - no big tanks etc..
In this case an airbag vest would likely have helped considerably, as would most good hard armor.
Moto guys rarely wear adequate thoracic protection. Pretty dumb actually IMO.
I guess I am saying that in the 2 stroke days you didn't have 50% +/- of your factory riders out injured 7 races into a season. I am sure there is a lot of variables that go into it, but it wasn't like this. It kills me all of the injuries are making people bitter towards supercross, it just got me thinking of better times for indoor racing and trying to open my eyes a bit to what is different now vs. then. The biggest difference, the bikes.
I think the tracks should not be so prescribed and should be more random.
Currently, the whoops are all evenly spaced, the jumps are always the same distances.
If there was more randomness the speeds would be slower and less reliance on perfection from the rider as it is when every double is 30 ft, all whoops are the same distances apart and same height and so on. More of a free ride track would bring back creativity and less cookie cutter BS that breeds these kind of crashes.
Boy, I never woulda guessed that Smith would crash himself outta contention.
Pit Row
Was he wearing the Astars new system? Seems like its made for exactly this situation. Guys need to start wearing some protection already.
Friese’s dad says protection doesn’t work.
for real. he's one of the older guys in his class and usually rides with tons of maturity.
Not missing a sx in 4 years is an achievement in itself for Jordon.
Gotta give Jordan credit, he is strong, always trying his best, was looking real good on his Triumph. Heal up quick JS!!
