Pro ATV's faster than Pro bikes at redbud!

Maybe I'm just bitter because i see countless single track get ruined by quads who don't understand the concept of what a single track is....

I'm a bike rider, but I gotta be honest, pro quad racers are badass. Those things are a pain in the ass to ride at speed, and they do it at VERY VERY high speeds.

OH.....one more thing.

Yes....I have ridden in the past with an extremely fast ATV rider by the name of Cory Ellis. he was a multiple champ riding them fucking things.

When the tracks were smooth , with big wide turns and so forth , I had to ride hard to run his pace. But again , i was just a 1/2 way good INT , and he was a national champion.

When the track got rough......HA!....No , he could not keep up with a 1/2 descent INT rider on an MX track.

Maybe times have changes a little.....but comparing lap times from an ATV rider , on the EXACT track to Townley is fucking ridiculous.
Did you ride with him at Woodland? I'm pretty sure that was one of only tracks he raced at once he turned pro and you could ride a harley there. Down at albany two weeks ago, I was running a second quicker laps than Tigre Lacey... hmm weird, and I'm not even a national champion!

Oh i'm not saying the racers aren't good by the way.

yeah Cody....it was at woodland. He was always there. I raced him alot in the INT days on bikes before he switched over to the quads . Not really sure why he made the switch....but it benefited him.

Cody....I'm trying to figure out who you are. I know Tiger really well , so if you were running his pace , you have to be tearing it up extremely good. Do I know you? Did you ever come ride out at Hindsight MX at all ?

Im not saying they are faster every where. And you dont think quads make breaking bumps, ruts, or kickers? You obviously have never been to a quad national.

Quads do throw the dirt off but start digging holes right away. It never stays perfectly smooth unless its a super dry tracks.

You cant compare putting a pro quad rider on redbud during a bike national.. Put dungey at redbud during the quad national and see how fast he is with no ruts or lines and dry holed out corners, he would get straight walked.... And it wouldn't be 30-45 seconds difference lmfao

Like I said , I love motocross. Bikes and quads are awesome to watch. But on this site everybody rags on quads like only idiots ride them but when you goto most races some of the nicest setups and nicest looking things are quads. It really dont matter but quads never get the respect they deserve.
There is a reason for that...this is VitalMX.com and not Vitalquad.com....

I ran Hindsight the first 3 years it was open. i brought all the dirt in there , made all the tracks and trained kid and so forth. I left about 1-1/2 years before they closed down.

Long story , but i'm the one who got the owners into riding bikes years ago. Rick ( the owner) was one of my best friends in hi school.

Yeah I'm running quads now. Not gonna lie about it I don't have the speed to go anywhere on a bike. But yeah I know Jesse Goss. He moved to arizona to train and race.

So you seem to be doing pretty well on quads if you are running Tiger Lacey speed. I have ridden with Tiger quite a few times down there at Albany ( love that track.....can't wait to get back down there again some day....hopefully soon. )

Since you are from OR city.....you deal with Power sports Yamaha? That's where i'm picking up my new YZ450F here in a couple days. Just found out that Joel Ard works there......and had a good long talk with him.....good kid and known him forever!

Yeahh its actually Factory Motorsports. Power is in salem. But yeah Joel Ard and Nick Shirley both work there. Thats an awesome shop. They have helped us so much. When was the last time you were at albany? Before they took out the buddy jump and the entire finish line section?

A few years back they had pro ATV during the Canadian MX Nationals... I think it was in 2005 - the top quad guy was 1 second a lap faster than Jean-Sebastien Roy (JSR)... So yeah they were on the same exact track and the dude on the quad was faster than our champ...

Quads do nothing but destroy good berms and lines. Ive also never seen one at the track that can beat me let alone a "fast" guy. Also, have you ever cornered on an atv? Zero skill involved to go fast. Weak ruts and a flat highway of a track can make anyone fast.

Factory Motorsports......sorry , you are right. I get the two confused some times. Ernie Valasquez ( << spelling??) has my white YZ450F sitting in the back right now with my name on it. I hope to be able to pick it up sometime this week or this weekend at the latest.

I haven't been to Albany since 04' I think. I got hurt pretty bad in 05' , rode a little bit after that , but left the track and the sport in April of 06'......I haven't been on a bike since then. So it's been close to about 4-1/2 years off. I don't know about racing much any more , just really miss the riding.

I'll try to make it down to Albany before this season is up for a few practice days. They still have them on Wednesdays?

I read a magazine article where they had a rider who, I think, had been a pro quad and bike rider test a YZ450 and a YZF450 quad on the same track. His lap times were nearly identical. That was probably 5 years ago that I read that.

Well GuyB, start a new site to get the rif raf quad rider idiots outta here. Why don't you guys go to some fishing or hunting forum and talk about how you busted out Larocco's Leap right after downin a sixer and fishin in tha creak. We don't care. I think I speak for 99% of this forum when I say if we could, we would ban quads from the tracks. All they do is screw things up and get in the way. While I admit I'm no pro, I've NEVER had one pass me, and those idiots sure don't get out of my way when I come flying up on them... They fro fade all over the damn place. I think thats what pisses everyone off. Fro fadin berm blowin four queerlers, what a waste...

atv's have been known to run faster lap times on an identically prepped track. That doesnt mean it breaks in the same.

Here's unadilla video from the atv national. It does looks broken in pretty smooth. Same for Steel City and Millville. There's usually one main smooth line through every corner.

Redbud video will be up in 2 days. Judge the track then.

I think that was in the dirtwheels and it was with Barry Hawk who won both pro titles in GNCC he dominated the quads then switched to bikes and won the bike title. Also some of the best guys in WORCS on quads are Dustin Nelson and Beau Baron who raced back in the day in the ama pro nationals, they both did Washougal in the 250 class when windham and RC were battling. But yeah I believe that Nelson was within 3 seconds of RV like he said and Nelson while really good on the west coast doesn't usually even top 5 in the East Coast in the ATV nationals.

please have the quads run the same lap times at Anaheim

I can believe on certain tracks that a couch might be as fast as a man bike, but racing them the same day is silly. If I showed up and was told i had to race after the quads burned out the track, i would pack up and go home.

I don't know what it is, but I also dislike quads. When I see them at the track I get annoyed. Maybe it's because they take away riding time from us mx-riders? I don't like at all that they are on the same pace as bikes. I could always make up for my dislike with, at least they are slow. They look slower? But now if they are as fast or even faster? Damn. No real evidence here, sorry Jeffro but it actually comes out here as they are faster which really sux.

But I guess riding a helicopter on a dirt track would increase speed even further. So really. But again, I don't like them and I don't want them to be faster. Time to have a Dungey vs xxxx at some point to once for all get an indication...

There are a few quad guys that show up at the track I ride that are stupid fast. It is only ever the two of them and the track is almost all sand. They do a great job of dispersing the water when it rains and cleaning out some of the bad ruts.
