I think Brayton said it best on RDL. Everyone holds Chase to a higher standard because we know how good he can be. Ultimately though you don’t get the red plate 6 rounds in being all over the place. Sure he has had some mistakes but he’s still been the best.
I have to admit....yesterdays gate incident was a head scratcher. I cannot remember the last time I saw ANYONE get hung up in the gate...Let alone a points leader.
His ride after the gate thing and then going down was nothing less than amazing though....I thought he was going to be down way more points.
What a salvage job.... which also points to a strong mental state.
That ride was unreal. Shit that must of been fun for Chase. Regardless of the start and crash. Soo f-ing fast.
During the Weege show Jade Dungey rode Sextons bike past Weege and he asked Jade what happened, Jade said AP7 next to him flinched. That what is happened to Sexton.

sadly you are correct sir!
chase should be winning this going away but " them thars mental demons at play"
Ah.....the old gate flinch trick....
🤣
Just going to quote myself, because the same sentiment is true, except Webb just won and tied the points.
Some people ride better from the back bc they're otherwise focused on what they have to lose. It's hard to shake. I'm probably projecting...
I just re-watched the start, I didn’t see any movement from Plessinger so I think Chase truly tried to time the gate
JT said same thing on review pod.... said he watched it many times and that was someone counting and guessing. Who knows.....
Sometime in the next couple weeks when he's in a good mood Lewis can just ask him and he'll probably admit it.
Oh, sweet! I didn't even realize were getting another triple crown so soon. Like someone else mentioned, great timing for Kenny to hopefully make up some more points on these two. With the way the field is right now, it's tough to imagine Cooper or Chase not being on the podium, even if Kenny wins. I mean, Chase just went from last to third. Hard to get people in between you to make up points when most of the riders you would expect to be up there are all on the sidelines. Roczen has got to be kicking (ha) himself for that Tampa crash.
It's really 50/50 for me between Webb and Sexton at this point so even if the field has been depleted, the silver lining is that it only takes two guys to make a championship exciting if they're even! Tomac V Sexton outdoors was an all-time championship battle and it was just between those two. Hopefully we get something similar here in SX!
Birmingham round 10 is triple crown as well
Oh course he did! A guy that good trying an amateur trick.
He rode fantastic, too.
Definitely, at the time it didnt work and he looked like an idiot for trying so hes just gonna make up an excuse. He was on the pod not too long ago talking about one of the races where he had a crazy jump and he admitted hd just counted to 5 in his head and then let it rip, and it worked. I cant remember if it was in smx or which race it was, but it wasnt too long ago that he tried it.
When it works you look like the man. It also gives you a false confidence that it has a higher likelihood of working than it does. He found out saturday that it can also not work and you can start in dead last. Thats a desperation kind of move that he doesnt need to be doing right now. If youre confident that you can rip the holeshot you dont try something sketchy like that. Its a complete gamble and the odds are not good, you shouldnt be leaving your start up to chance.
Luckily he put in a crazy ride, but he still lost points to webb and is now tied for the red plate even with the ride of a lifetime. So thats still a loss. If he didnt try to time it even if he gets a mediocre start he prob wins the race, he was flying. The only thing that could have stopped him from winning that night was getting stuck in the gate, and he made sure that his odds of it happening were like 90%. Boneheaded play. Hopefully he has learned and doesnt do that again.
Quick recap... Still the favorite ?!?
