I am so hoping Herlings will be healthy for MXoN this year!!  How did he do last time at Ironman?  😉

He was not too scared of Tomac last time.

If Herlings misses the first four GPs, then he’s out of the world championship running. That makes moving to the AMA Nationals a better bang for KTM’s buck imo, but no doubt the other sponsors have their requirements too.
Let’s hope a deal to everyone’s satisfaction can be worked out. There’s plenty of time.

Looking to possibly miss the first 3 to 4 MXGP rounds.

Say's 2026 will be his last year, though, this year may be the last if he doesn't get another contract.

In every interview he says something different when he wants to suit......and not getting a contract .....i think almost every mxgp team wants herlings in their team

A couple years ago it was his plan to race the AMA nationals in his last year after he retires from MXGP, but I think that changed. He said in gatedrop interviews last year that he's glad he doesn't have to race Jett and aswell as Prado once he goes to the US. I think his main goal over the last years became to stack MXGP wins, maybe get one more title and then retire. Very sad as a fan, but seems unlikely he rides a full season in the US.
Jett, Tomac, Prado, Herlings, Sexton, Hunter.. That would be insane

I regard the 'not getting a contract' to be a reference to the possibility that KTM et al, may not exist when his current contract ends .

He may have no interest in riding for another manufacturer, and, He may well be 'over' getting hurt.

He's a long life  to lead after racing, and, he appears to be in an very favourable position with his investments, thusly, to have no need for moving to other manufacturers.

His comments about his Dad's and Brothers Knee replacements ( that do not always work well - I can attest to a knee replacement last year leaving me in a far, Far worse position than prior)  are of note.   Though I think he may have a fair few 'bit's' in him (as do So Many of We  here) , already, after all of his injuries.

We only have 11 nationals. MxGP season is what 21 or 23 races?  He has a better chance of finishing the USA series then mxgp. Although I don’t think there is any chance he comes here to race a full series.

I love Herlings but I think our series is worse for his finishing percentage, he has only done all the rounds once in the last 7 years. He can get away with missing a round or two in GP’s and somewhat get away with it and still be in the title chase, in our series one round is pretty much taking you out of any contention.

Once upon a time it would've been incredible but as we all know he isn't the same rider, or at least hasn't shown to be the same rider since 2018 - that year he was draw drappoing, unbelievable at times.

Obviously injuries take their toll both physically and mentally (I think the crash a couple of yrs back where he was for a brief period left paralysed from the neck down scared the hell out of him - as it would anyone), and then people age naturally regardless anyway, usually with children coming into the picture, family commitments etc. He has achieved so much and therefore has so much to lose.

In other words we wouldn't get (imo) the epic long season battle AMA-side we always wanted now anyway, regardless of how healthy he could theoretically stay, because that ship has long (6-7 yrs removed) since sailed... Even Jeffrey himself has acknowledge he isn't the same rider for understandable reasons.

All that said it'd still be cool to see on some level.

In 2021 he came close to his 2018 level, what he did in the final few races was insane. That season he definitely deserved the title. Broken shoulder blade in Oss, still winning the moto. Getting back in Lommel and winning one moto and coming back to 3rd (or around that position) after a start crash, dominating the final moto's in Mantova.. those where championship rides.

We can expect a few flashes of brilliance as long as he races (2024 Arnhem and Lommel), but I think that he is a much more calculated rider now. Picking his battles. He showed us a lot of brilliant rides for the past 15 years, which is insane. Same goes for Tomac and Roczen, all three of them top riders since 2009/2010.

Yes herlings has become calmer and takes fewer risks...but last year he lost the title at the beginning of the season after being injured for 1 year.....the second half of the season was good....and yes ,herling  is no longer the herlings from 2018....but only i few who can beat him now......

He announced yesterday that he may retire this year, definitely by next year. Haven't seen any mention of it on here?
