So I had mentioned before that if they can have leader lights that are green idk why they cant have them go red when theres a red flag to let people know to stop racing. Well with the gl interview on cooksie it was mentioned instead that they could have a light on the bars for the blue flag or red flag. Thats a pretty good idea. This goes around having to have voice communication which people dont want to make that jump right now and keeps it simple.
The riders could have a light on the bars and when its a red flag everybodys light goes red and they all know the race is stopped. The blue light for lappers would be harder to implement, but this would be an awesome addition. Idk how they could do it but maybe instead of hiring people to set them off you could have software where when the green leader light is on the leaders bike every rider he comes up on with his bike would communicate to the next bike and tell it to flash the blue light. The leader is the most important one and the first guy that gets into lappers. Once he goes by they know more are coming. In order to get further back in the pack you would probably need a way to have every bike know which position it is in and where it is relative to the other riders on the track. This would take a much more complicated timing and scoring system, but the one we have is really bad and is going to be upgraded. Maybe this could be part of it. That would be an awesome addition.
The blue light would be the hardest to implement and would take a lot of work, but I dont see why the red light couldnt be done immediately. Just change the leader lights to also have a red light and if its a red flag every light goes on at the same time. The blue light on the bars or who knows maybe even a yellow in the future would be a lot more complicated, but could be something to strive towards for the future.

Good idea, but I don't think the red light is needed for a red flag situation, doesn't ever seem to be an issue once those are flown. Could be used for a red cross situation though.

You wouldnt have to look down at the bars to see it we have peripheral vision. Having a light on the bars facing you, youd see it out the corner of your eye when it comes on. You wouldnt want something in the way of the riders field of view, youd want something that isnt noticeable until its needed. Youd definitely notice a blue light coming on on your bars though.
You think the same guys that missed this red cross flag would see a light on their bars?
Also the leader lights turning red would never work, when is the last time you were riding and were able to see your bottom triple clamp?

I had a similar idea with the blue light. They should have blue lights on the bike that turn on automatically when a leader is within a certain distance of coming up to a rider a lap down. A lot of the time riders complain the blue flags come out to early the look back see nothing and ignore it. If you implemented this technology there wouldn't be any excuses for not moving over and letting the leader bye.
Bluetooth kill switch/throttle limiter.
Rather than a blue flag we should use one of those massive magnets you see at scrap yards for lifting cars. Attach it to the stadium roof and just lift the lapped rider off the track immediately. Or instead of a red flag just have a device that immediately shuts off all the bikes. Instead of a red cross flag, just put a joker lane type thing around every rhythm section so the riders don't need to slow down.
These are all better ideas than what you're proposing.
Put the lights under the rider's visor, in the rider's line of sight.

We talked about this last year when they introduced the triple clamp lights. They eliminated the flashing leader pylon tied to the timing loops since going to the bike mounted green lights. They could bring back the lighted pylon, maybe smaller and pointed at the track, with a blue light that lights up when the leader crosses the previous timing look the goes dark after the leader crosses that timing loop. It's just automating the blue flag but it should be more consistent than having flaggers.

Well according to a couple ppl in this thread this is rocket science and impossible to do and even if it was possible nobody is able to see flashing lights that are pointed at them… so I guess we just have to keep it exactly how it is forever.
