Detroit SX 12 p.m.

Park near Greektown, hit the casino up after the racing and leave once the traffic eases up, hopefully with a few extra bucks in your pocket.

So, qualifying is essentially over before the gates open?

Looks that way. Between that and no pits, not a lot of bang for your buck in Detroit.

That's pretty crappy. They probably had the whole stadium staff scheduled for noon gate opening.

Oakland is by far the most dangerous city to host a supercross. I was stunned at the amount of crime I saw before going into the stadium parking. The area at and around the stadium in Detroit is by far safer.  Philly is a uneasy city in many areas but where the stadium is it's very safe. We have some day races and this is a east coast event. Let us have a good race time once or twice a year in the winter months. geezzz

When you say you saw crime? You actually witnessed multiple crimes being committed on your way to the parking?

I can't remember what SX announcer/commentator it was....but they witnessed crimes going on at Oakland SX.

I would agree when others say Oakland is/was a worse place to hold a race.

Areas right around the stadium might be "safe"....you still gotta travel through or run the risk of getting lost in some bad areas.

Families are going to avoid that kind of situation at night.

I can understand a city being high crime, I guess the claim someone literally saw lots of crimes being committed as they went into a parking/stadium surprised me. I’ve been to some of the most dangerous cities in the world, but actually witnessing multiple crimes taking place live on a single journey is not something I can say I’ve ever seen

Going to Detroit SX for the first time. Anyone have any parking suggestions if you have a lifted truck? Didn't want to take it, but looks like 4"-6" of more snow up there on Saturday. Also, does your normal ticket get you in for the morning practices?

I usually park here with mine.  It’s a surface lot next to the stadium.  Has a parking attendant.  There’s a few bigger spots as well.

Appreciate this parking lot info Drunkonunleaded! Man, I really struggle to accept $75.00 to park a damn vehicle somewhere! For that much you should at least get washed, waxed, carpet steam cleaned, windows done and my wheels shined up!

I can't remember what year it was in Minneapolis, they had the late opening well after practice started and the gate attendants said it was due to not being able to staff the place any earlier. Might be some union involvement.

Every year it says gates at 12 but myself and hundreds of other people show up when qualifying starts and get in without issue

Exactly.  Full stadium is open at noon.  Half of the stadium opens at 8:00 with limited seating and a handful of food/drink options.

Many of the lots directly adjacent to the stadium are slated to open at 6:00.

Dozens of times. With my kids on a few of our trips there for events. And it was fine, zero issues.
