I used to pick up hitchhikers all time in Alberta. When I working on drilling rigs in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan. Often I’d be up all night, finishing paperwork, hand that info to my relief. Than I’d pin ( drive) it home. Often 10-12 hour drive. I’d stop, gas station and if someone was hitching, I’d pick them up, and make them drive ( as we were likely going same city). Get 4-5 hours sleep. Worked good. Then I’d drop them off in city, or take them to bus stop to catch greyhound. I did this numerous times, instead of falling asleep at the wheel. Yes 188 in diameter reamer, stuck. Want to here a good 1. We got returns back - the drilling fluid it’s basically fine powdered clay mixed with water. I treated the water too 4 different properties. A few other things we could add if we drilled into a 800 ft clay vein. Cobs of clay rush up hole & plug it off. I could then add a liquid. It would take huge bolders of clay & break it up into bb sized clay in minutes. So we got returns back wayy earlier than the other aprox 6 ream passes under the river. I said dig the pit larger & get 20 vac tankers here asap. The supervisor said I,m shutting the pump off & dry pull it. We knew he would get stuck. 1 rotation on the rig to move 1 in a 1,000 ft away. So 5,800 ft basically 6 turns on the rig. The co always said you hv to try 3 days to free it up, which is stupid. What there doing is rebidding the project into by the foot. 130k a foot I think it was. Day 3 I ran the rig supervisor & other clowns went to pipe side in Quebec. We had to hire local union bros they where Great workers . We had a lot of fun . They taught me some French to say to women at the clubs. Which was dirty stuff because I had drinks thrown in my face . Haha. We told c tv that we got stuck on a 2,000 yr old tree 50 ft below the river bed . Haha it was soo stupid. We can drill threw the hardest granite but a tree will stop 2.5 million lbs torque. Chics dressed like the girls in clueless mini skirts with white 1/2 tights , Hot. I know the military was concerned about maintaining the mechanical equipment because there weren't enough storage or maintenance facilities. I believe there were plans to build one or expand on what's currently there.
That`s what`s happening. I`m working on rooms for troops and there is a huge construction near by that looks like hangars and shooting range.
