Dungey believes he can beat 7...(right now)

no one else in the field believes that they can beat 7 and now they don't believe they can beat 5...a few beat downs and they are mindfucked over it...5 can win out if 7 doesn't show up without a doubt...

if 7 shows up and puts the hammer to 5 two or three motos in a row...5 will stop believing like the rest, and the universe will be back in order...

if 7 shows up and 5 wins by 30 seconds(like many on here think he will)...7 will stop believing and THEN you can talk about The Dungeon being the new force...

just sayin?

No...he'll just work harder and eventually have James covered-if only because of James age/injuries catch up with him . Like I said before, Ryans got time on his side.

Agreed ! Even if The Dungenator or Bubbles falls in the first turn of each moto the build up and bench racing this is producing is awesome. My 2 cents, I think Dungey has him covered.

I feel that unlike previous years James cannot afford to fall off or have a bad start as Dungers has something for him in the fitness department.
Some reason though i feel James will win. If this is the case then no shame on Dungers as the kid is proving that he doesn't have much more to prove.

Well, lets go back a few years to the reign of Jeremy McGrath. MC was so far into everyone's heads that the entire field knowingly went to the gate to fight for 2nd place. Riders were interviewed and almost without fail they would say they were shooting for second. They were waisting their time even lining up because they had themselves beaten long before MC laid wood to them.

Part of MCs success was handed to him by riders that had it in their minds that MC was unbeatable.........therefore he was unbeatable. Many people learned a lesson from that era.

i didn't read what the OP said..... but there is no dark cloud over Dungey..... he's shining as bright as you can in the moto world right now... just doesn't get any better than making history and possibly being the only person to ever win the big boy SX and outdoor championships....

So you are saying that is why RC was so successful? MC was just that good in SX period. Maybe it was in some of the riders heads but it did not give them the wins or championships they earned.

Look, I'm not saying that at all, just telling it like it is. MC was so o confident and came on the scene in such a fashion that no one knew what hit them. It took RC much longer to start winning in a dominant way. RC did eventually have them doing the same thing after a couple of seasons. It's tough not to fall into that trap when a guy is so dominant and it usually take a new guy on the scene who hasn't been taking a beat down, to dethrone or at least give the champ a run for his money. (RC vs MC, JS vs RC etc.)
