It has been a day race for a few years now. Not sure if they do it for daytime broadcasting on prime time TV. Either way they have no "superstars" at this point in the series. I dont mind it as I can spend the day in Detroit and be home at a reasonable time

Chase Sexton, Ken Roczen, Cooper Webb...all "super stars" in my book.

Detroit is way nicer than people think, especially the area around the stadium. You have to go far out to the outskirts of the city and into some of the neighboring cities to get to the sketchier areas. My wife if from there and I’ve been plenty of times. It’s actually a pretty fun city with a lot to see and do.

Ohhh, IDK...maybe because racers like to make it home with their bikes.

Me and some buddies went last year. Had a blast at the casinos and bars

We took a wrong turn one year (when it was a night race), and found ourselves in a very Chernobyl-like looking area, with trash can fires.  I would've been a little nervous if we had car trouble.

The area immediately around the stadium is fine though.  Nothing but a bunch of club and restaurant hoppers to deal with.

Yup. There is nothing wrong with downtown Detroit. Now if you get outside of downtown on the side streets it gets hood quickly.

Cute....but a miss on all points.

There is a reason they're running the race at noon in that city and you know it.

Because there is no pits? And they have to ride to the stadium from outside parking w their semis and its currently 20 in the daytime and 10 at night?

Ahh yes people who have never been to Detroit but know all about it. Downtown is fine and has been for years now. The worst part about this race is the pit situation, not the neighborhood.

Looks like my son and are getting the awesome opportunity to crew for one of the privateer teams. We will be there Friday and Saturday. Where is a safe place to park?

Is there really much of a difference between 10 and 20 degrees......   either way, that's colder than a witches tit.

Feld knows they're not going to draw families into the city at night.....

Going to Detroit SX for the first time. Anyone have any parking suggestions if you have a lifted truck? Didn't want to take it, but looks like 4"-6" of more snow up there on Saturday. Also, does your normal ticket get you in for the morning practices?

Yeah it's actually a very noticeable difference, especially with the Sun out.
