Then make it 105% if 107 isn’t tight enough for moto. F1 uses 107 as their standard but we do have different needs for moto so tweaking that to find the right formula would make sense.

And maybe the format changes over time so we aren’t watching 2.5 hours of heat races for gate picks on the main program.

Yeah....that's a no.... who wants to see only 15 riders during the night with qualifiers that mean nothing and then the same thing will happen, riders will still get lapped...stop with the overreaction just clarify the rule so it causes some pain if you cause a crash while being lapped....eliminating 60% of the field before the night show begins in one sure way to kill the sport...

Stop making sense Don.

A rare/extreme lapper incident and Vital wants to throw the baby out with the bath-water.

Just another week of  "You can't make this shit up".

There would still be heats for gate pick jockeying since everyone gets so excited about that.

It keeps people from doing 40 mph on the autobahn with their hazards on while there’s a police chase heading their way…in a hurry.

That’s an analogy to maybe help you conceptualize it.

Yeah that's not helping me. Your barrier to entry eliminated a former 250 champion who rides for a factory-ish team and ended up 12th in the main event. In what world is that comparable to someone "doing 40 mph on the autobahn with their hazards on"?

Aren't you the clown who is always crying that the "starts are too Dangerous" so you want those changed also to staggered or rolling starts ? Just because these things scare you doesn't mean they need to be changed.🤣

Should they be told to sit down when they pee too?

I don't want to get rid of the whoops and never stated that....    they don't need to be season/career/vertebrae killers though.

By “also” I didn’t mean you, I was just adding it to the list of unpopular changes I’ve endorsed so far.

Make blue flag penalties great again (or at least the first time). One violation warning/fine, second black flag.

And/or bonus to the riders that pay attention to blue flag the best. Maybe a 15-22 rider can make more following the rules than the main event pays.

Remedial training before the night show for blue flag and what it does (and doesn't mean) you have to do. Both for the fast guys and the lapped guys.

107% rule/ A&B mains / other ways to remove lapped riders aren't right for this sport as stated above multiple times.

More should be done, but it shouldn't fundamentally change the challenge of lapped riders or the lapped riders right to compete.

I feel like every year there is at least one race where a lapper plays a spoiler

What are you actually suggesting, how do the riders and ama be better about blue flags, and what should happen if a lapped rider takes out a leader?

So... Kenny falls over in the first turn and has trouble kickstarting his bike. by the time he gets it fired up the leaders are lapping him. so, is his race over and he has to pull off??

Personally, I'm not sure if he should or not. Lappers are a tough problem to solve.

I think in SX only if you are a lap down and its past the 10 minute mark you should pull off and be given the position you're currently in. Edited to say. Or start penalizing the guys that are using the blue flags to make up time.

The AMA should penalize riders by making them wear EKS Brand goggles in the next race if they've been lapped.

Pretty simple instead of holding their line as it it is now all riders being lapped should be required to slow down, pull to the inside and allow the lapping rider to pass on the outside, if they are in a race with another lapper there would be no passing allowed. if you take out a lapping rider while being lapped you are DQ'd....if you pass another rider while being lapped it's a two position penalty....having radio communication would also help a large percentage of this from even happening.....

Let racers race. We only qualify about 25% of the entries to the main event as is. Veering away from the traditional rules of racing into more of a battle royale last-man-standing type show is not what we need as a sport.

Just for arguments sake how many riders should be getting lapped in the main? Some 2 times or more.   What is acceptable at the Premier level?

Why don’t they turn your fork guard lights blue when you are getting lapped?

Sounds like nfL elitist plan to protect the star q back .  And hv no contact in practice. Yes tackle football has no practice for tackling.  Americans r sick of elite type of people.  Except for some espn call in types that think a factory spoiled rider . Should get special attention.  If ken is such an elite rider . Why can’t he put a lapper on the ground with No chance of himself going down.  In bball we put less talented players on the floor. 100% knowing where not going down.  In mx put a elbow on him hard , he,ll move.

riders 1 lap down should be black flagged under the following conditions.

at every 5min interval, if a rider is a lap down, they be black flagged and pull off track. so at 5, 10 and 15 min.

this allows a rider who may be downed early on a chance to fight for positions but cuts them out in the latter stages to avoid cluttering the track

Anyone here watch sprint car racing ? I’m from aus so may be different here but in sprint car racing theyll lap half the field in a lot of their mains. There lap rule is that the lapper doesn’t actually have to get out the way so the top drivers know already that it’s something they have to have as part of their skill set. I don’t think there is any possible way to govern lappers so I think put the responsibility back on the guys that are lapping….. unless you want to watch 10 guys in the main.

Feld could just pay a midget to ride on the back with every guy. Give the midget a pistol with one bullet. As the leader approaches said midget will have one chance to eliminate the leader. At the end of the season the midget with the most kills shall be crowned the new lucky charms spokesman.

Hint: It's one race, it happens.

Cooper can be spicey. No need to change the whole sport over one race.

Plus be careful  messing with privateers. You might end up watching ten bike races like MXGP.

One lap down, blue flag with stiff penalties if ignored (docked position, points are taken away, loss of cash earning from the main event, kicked in the nuts, etc). Repeated blue flag offenses result in disqualification and suspension from the next round.

Two laps down, the rider is immediately black-flagged and removed from the race. The rider's finishing position will be based on the position they were in when they were black-flagged.

Remember when the medical (red cross) flag was first introduced and riders forgot to roll the jump? How did they fix that problem? By taking a firm stance on rule enforcement, that's how.

The solution is AI control.     When the computer senses leaders coming up....AI takes over and moves the riders out of the way automatically.

AI will soon control starts, throttle, braking, jumping, whoops....all of it.

After a while, we won't need riders anymore.   No more injuries, depleted fields, no more Friese'ing.....   it'll be even better when it goes electric so we don't have to hear that horrible engine noise and breathe dangerous race gas fumes.

Don't forget, we won't need sideplates/numbers anymore either according to that other thread.

I can't wait for this era.   It's gonna be awesome.

Enforce the blue flags.

Maybe add a purple flag that gets flown if you disobey the blue. If you disobey the purple, next one is black flag. Too many lappers are using the blue flags to their advantage hoping the guy in front yields; gaining position on them.
