The statement that I responded to wasn't relevant. Haiden has 1 win 4 races in, and is 3 points out of the lead. Haiden said he wanted to dominate, which clearly hasn't happened.

Jett has 1 win 4 races in, and is 13 points off the lead. Jett said he wanted to go undefeated, which hasn't happened.

Sometimes, the season doesn't go as planned. But you wouldn't know that from the sh*t keyboard warriors talk.

This is how I imagine Brian talking to Lil D in the pits when he doesn't win.

It’s really simple if Jordan or JJ acted like he does we’d talk shit on them too…they don’t because they are professionals..

ANAHEIM 1

Time practice

1.04.796 = Haiden Deegan (2nd)
1.06.218 = Cole Davies (6th)

Gap = +1.422

Heat race

They start up front and finish 1st and 2nd. Deegan wins by 6.370 seconds, and is 1.245 seconds faster than Cole on his fastest lap, and 0.974 sec faster on average lap.

Main event

Haiden goes from 19th to 5th, Cole goes from 20th to 8th. There is a 20.736 gap between them. Haiden's fastest lap was 0.2 seconds faster than Cole's. But Haiden's average lap was 1.203 second faster than Cole's.

SAN DIEGO

Time practice

52.848 = Haiden Deegan (1st)
54.043 = Cole Davies (7th)

Gap = +1.195

Heat race

Cole start in the lead and wins. Haiden starts in 5th and ends up 3rd after a crash. Gap between Cole and Haiden is 12.874 seconds. Haiden got a better fastest lap by 1.069 second, but the average lap time of Cole is 1.272 second faster.

Main event

Haiden starts in 8th to finish 3rd, Cole starts in 1st and finish 4th after a crash. Haiden has a faster lap time by 0.549, and also a faster average by 0.387 sec.

ANAHEIM 2

Time practice

58.499 = Haiden Deegan (3rd)
59.461 = Cole Davies (4th)

Gap = +0.965

Heat race

For the first time they are in different heat races. In heat race 1, Cole starts in 5th to finish 2nd while Haiden starts 3rd and ends up 1st. The track was probably cleaner in H1 I guess, Cole finished 8 laps in 7 minutes and 38 seconds versus 7 minutes and 43 seconds for Haiden, therefore Cole's average lap times was actually 1.023 second faster than Haiden's, while Haiden's fastest lap was 0.361 faster than Cole's.

Main Event

Haiden starts in the lead and wins the race, while Cole starts in 7th to finish 3rd. There is a 20.196 seconds gap between them and Haiden's average lap is 0.971 seconds faster than Cole's, while Haiden's fastest lap is 0.704 faster as well.

GLENDALE

Time practice

1.00.190 = Haiden Deegan (2nd)
1.01.006 = Cole Davies (4th)

Gap = +0.816

Race 1

Cole starts in the lead and wins the race. Haiden starts in 4th and finish 3rd. There is a 7.677 gap at the end. Cole's average lap is 0.570 second faster but Haiden has a better fastest lap by only 0.029 seconds.

Race 2

Cole starts in the lead and wins. Haiden starts in 2nd and ends up 2nd. There is a 2.642 gap, Cole's average lap time is 0.167 sec better than Haiden's, and once again Haiden has a better fastest lap by 0.284 seconds this time.

Race 3

Haiden starts in 9th and finished 4th, Cole starts in 20th and finished 8th, there is a 12.380 gap between them at the end. Their average lap times are almost exactly the same, as Deegan is only 0.001 second faster. Haiden's fastest lap is 0.532 seconds faster than Cole's though.

Here is another way to look at all this the percentages of laps consistency for every races so far :

Anaheim 1 heat races then main event

99.11% = Cole Davies
98.17% = Haiden Deegan

99.12% = Haiden Deegan
98.53% = Cole Davies

San Diego heat races then main event

99.42% = Cole Davies
95.82% = Haiden Deegan

98.78% = Haiden Deegan
97.75% = Cole Davies

Anaheim 2 heat races then main event

98.38% = Cole Davies
97.14% = Haiden Deegan

97.16% = Haiden Deegan
97.14% = Cole Davies

Glendale race 1, 2 and 3

99.06% = Cole Davies
97.36% = Haiden Deegan

99.32% = Cole Davies
99.06% = Haiden Deegan

99.22% = Cole Davies
98.74% = Haiden Deegan

After those stats, I think it's pretty clear than Haiden is a faster rider (we all agree on that I guess), even though Cole is getting closer little by little, there is still a gap. On the other hand, Cole is more consistent in his lap times than Haiden's. Means Haiden wil go faster, but the gap between Haiden's fastest and slowest lap is usually bigger than the gap between Cole's fastest and slowest lap.

So my synthetised analyse would be :

Haiden is the fastest rider
Cole is the better rider

It's that his potential appears to be sky high, like how when Hunter first hit it big, there was already chatter that Jett was going to end up being the better rider, despite him not currently being faster than Hunter at the time. I get the same feeling watching Davies as when Jett first turned pro. He wasn't winning, but he looked so smooth and in control that it was obvious he would improve quickly. It's wild how polished and fast he already is.

I've said this before, but deegans style doesn't scale. He's exciting to watch and the class is better with him in it, but it doesn't scale. Look how long it's taken barcia to find a rhythm. All the top 450 guys, excepting Tomac bc he's the real bull, have one thing in common that isn't shared with deegan. They're economical on the bike with their inputs and they generally always have been.

The comment you responded to was relevant. He gave his opinion on Deegan's SX career to date.

If the prerequisite to post an opinion on this board was to have been paid to race professionally, it would have a handful of members.

Davies should get in touch with J-Mart to see if he can borrow his old Star pop-up tent. He might need it to get a little distance.

He has almost robotic precision in his riding; really shocking, given his age. I can't watch interviews with him, though. He is only 17, and I hope he grows into that part of it.

Using this logic, Jordon Smith has a win, is ahead of Haiden in points and is only 2 points out of the lead (overtaking Haiden the last race). I don't see in what possible universe it could be argued at this point in the season that Haiden is a better rider.

Also, the trump card will always be "it's only Haidens 3rd season" because Jordon is an old guy.

If you isolate this season, then yes, Jordan Smith has been a better rider.  So has Julian.

Cole Davies has not.

No one cares though. Your opinion doesn’t matter. Deegan is a professional. He gets paid a lot of $$ to ride around a track on a dirt bike.

It's an unwinnable argument. If we go by stats alone, Haiden has been both faster and better.

But the trump card will always be, "it's Cole's first season" and of course this mysterious, unmeasurable ceiling that some of you think Haiden has reached, but Cole hasn't even come close to.

I know you haven’t been around here long enough but you are like the James fan “The KidP” that stalked any thread with him if people pointed out he wasn’t perfect. He even has a race report where he “threw his napkin” when James crashed out of the race. Was James great? Yes! Was he perfect? No, but there was no convincing him otherwise. Is Deegs a great rider? Yes! Has he underperformed to expectations this SX regional series where only half the competition lined up? Yes, it’s ok he will get plenty of wins you don’t have to get salty when people say it looks like the new kid has more potential

Posts almost exclusively in Deegan threads or Deegan adjacent threads. And has absolutely no objectivity when critiquing him. It's obvious to anyone that Deegan has flaws when it comes to SX. Set aside all the stats, your eyes work right?

Is Cole one of Oldmate’s students again?

Yup.

Matt and Jake's Dad.

Jett and Cole's coach.

Be cool to get all 6 of you in one room and have you drop some knowledge

Greg hammers technique. Shows doesn’t it.
Bobby should work with Mossy to get a lead in on talent.

Overall Cole Davies is riding better than Deegan. Deegs still looks like he’s one jump from throwing it away. He doesn’t look any more precise than the year before. Pretty sure he’s crashed more than Davies.

This is what is strange to me - the kid has literally grown up in front of a camera like a child actor.  You’d think he’d have it wired - every interview looks like a struggle and seems hard to make eye contact.

Brian is such a shit talker! Also already bringing up it was always a 4 year 250 plan, just in case he doesn’t win this year….

Overall diper boy is overrated. Yes he is fast outdoors but 5 out of 11 wins is also not dominant. The whole world goes crazy for that kid but he will not be the next Jett….

Did you have someone if was a mentor to you as far as technique and how to teach it? Or was it a lot of research and trial and error? It might be boring to some but talking technique and breaking it down is so interesting to me

That's ridiculous. So if he was going to race the East Coast why couldn't he have done the MXdN?

Feel bad for Christian Craig, he’s set up to be the fall guy if Deegan doesn’t win the title this year.
