The "we don't owe anyone anything" thing is so cringe in these situations. You get paid well to race a motorcycle because people care. I get that putting out the press release isn't your primary concern, but getting snippy with people because they care when them caring is why you're getting paid to live out your dream is just not a great look.

I get what your saying but her kid just had part of his intestine removed and all people are saying is "the team , the bike " , I think she gets a pass here

Absolutely, not trying to shit on her, I'm sure this has been a hell of a week for her and maybe all the dumb rumors are more what she's referencing. That's just generally my feeling on that sentiment is all. I'm always interested from the medical side and just find the details interesting from that standpoint so I think it stands out a little more to me when people are secretive or defensive about this stuff for what seems to me to be no good reason.

I hate the secrecy like this. We’ll never “grow the sport” if factories cannot be honest about their malfunctions.

He's welcome to take this opportunity to go borrow tens of thousands of dollars so he can go learn to be an accountant or something. But instead I bet he'll be back on a bike chasing the dream as soon as or a little before he's able.

This guy is a fucking clown on twitter. He doesn’t have any inside info. Doesn’t say where the rumors are fun. He’s just an idiot fan. Go look at his tweets.  Dudes a moron.

Use to see his stuff on TikTok a lot but had to eventually hit not interested. Called him on his BS a few times. Pretty sure he paid attention to Cooksey if I remember correctly.

yeah she really set the record straight by giving ZERO detail at all. "headshake off a triple" is alot easier to say than gaslighting other people for wondering what really happened, when the guy that leaked the rumor turns out to have been correct regarding the actual injury.

honestly, and yeah its not a big deal and i should get a life, but i put this in the category of mirtlgate and she would have been better off saying nothing than "crash on a dirtbike". okay. clearly theres SOMETHING there.

So fuel injection got rid of the carburetor bog people complained about, but now we have advanced electronics with similar issues.  How bout manufacturers just evolve and fix issues to make the bike better and safer, not this redesign crap every 4 or 5 years. Bash Suzuki, but if honda just evolved think how good their bike would be this year?

I don't think you understand the severity of his injury, or how scary of a time this was/is for him and his family.  I'm sure the last thing they want to deal with is some fuckhead spreading rumors (that are 100% not true btw) about his team and what happened trying to profit from it while their son deals with what could have been potentially life altering injuries.  The entitlement of some people is just incredible.

I understand his injuries just fine. If reliable sources don't give info then that void is going to get filled with nonsense every single time. This sport is beyond ridiculous when it comes to the secrecy on this kind of stuff and this is the predictable result. If you don't like it, put the info out yourself. It was obvious last Saturday by all the get well soon messages that Ryder D's camp managed to like and repost that it was something beyond the usual, and that all the cool insiders knew that, but they didn't want to let us commoners know what it was and they left the door wide open for some loser to capitalize on. Maybe just tell everyone what happened next time? What's the downside to that?

Bet he's back for outdoors based on what's reported. Who knows if what's reported is true, though..... The internal injuries are scary but once fixed are going to keep him out for less time than the ortho injuries will.

Why? If they put out a statement saying it was wheelspin/head shake/whatever, you're just going to say they're lying, because some random internet clown has already said he heard bike malfunction.

I get what Truck is saying though. RyderD rides for a factory team, is the only rider representing that brand in west coast supercross, and they’ve yet to say anything. Everything is always hush hush and when people start making rumors, the ones closest to the situation address it without addressing anything at all really besides the “haters”. Ryders a factory rider with a fan base, people want to know what happened to him. Keeping things quiet just causes more speculation. As far as his internal injuries, Ryder has Millsaps training him and Millsaps lost a kidney in 2010 at Budds Creek I believe so Davi might have some tricks up his sleeve for Ryder. I believe it’s contract year for him too, I wonder how this will affect him for 2026.

And if they didn’t say anything you’d think the ‘rumor’ was true.

It’s no win for them.

It’s incredible to me that anyone on earth thinks that a factory team (or any team for that matter) would send their rider back out on a motor where the drain plug had previously come out.  I mean let’s use just a little bit of common sense here, does that sound even remotely plausible?

I'm not sure the majority of people who read that are hanging on every word, like it's truth. Most of the time when rumors circulate, there is not 100% truth or accuracy but it's more about the overall point. Because with most things, a tidbit of info may be true and it ends up being misconstrued as it goes along. Did the bike malfunction, is the point that I think people are most curious about. I obviously feel bad for RD and his family, first an foremost. I hope he recovers. That is the most important thing. But I also understand the curiosity from fans. And maybe that rumor isn't true but by getting defensive about it (and no actual reason given,) it gives legs to the idea that something happened, that maybe they don't want out there. That's just how it is with anything in sports / entertainment.

Its the underlying innuendo that I take issue with. The pitchfork mob wants that story to be true so they can lump it in with KTM’s financial struggles(they didn’t even have enough money for a back up engine!). No industry likes to caninbalize itself more then moto.

I certainly see that point, and do find that annoying, also. I am not sure moto is really any different than other sports though, honestly.  People try to piece things together or take angles with "facts" all the time. I think MX might feel worse in that the only people that care about these things are pretty hard-core fans. Mainstream sports have casual fans that try to talk in the know but they are clueless or don't even really follow that sport. I see it all the time with ppl that tweet or talk about the Penguins or Steelers around here and barely even follow the sport.

So let's put an end to all the rumors the bike did have an electrical issue that caused the crash. He went chest first into a jump and the bike landed on top of him ..He is now at home resting and will have surgery on his arm this next week..He wants to return as soon as possible but that will be up to the doctors when he can get back on the bike..I'm sure they will release more when they know more .

It’s the same in all sports. There’s more casual fans in the major sports but there’s also the psychotic consume every piece of content watch every game type.

People want to be the first to a take and the more inciting/controversial the better, truth be damned.

I hope not for his sake!
I had the same injury 10 years ago and I still deal with complications from it.
I hope all the best for him and hope he takes the time to let it heal.
