Bring back Ralf Sheheen and Emig.

It's funny you say this.  Today I was watching the GT Arenacross where Blair and JB were announcing and was blown away at how good of a job they did.  It got me thinking that maybe the reason we all learn to hate who's in the booth could be related to the production, maybe it's terrible because of what the announcers are getting fed in their ear and what they get to see on their screens.  Obviously, with a lower cost production those two (Blair and JB ) don't have a bunch of clowns talking in their ear and they seem to actually be watching the race instead of watching a screen. 

As much as we hate the announcers maybe, just maybe it's bad because of the team running the production (Bondo TV).  And yes, I'm well aware this is only part of it, some will always hate Ralph and RC for how they talk and fumble their words.  At some point you have to start wondering why we miss passes, wrecks, and follow the fifth-place guy around when there's a battle at the front.  You can't blame that on announcers.

If you want to hear a good team killing it in the booth, go listen to the Nebraska GT Arenacross round.

Emig, Stewart, Blair, Weege 

I don’t mind Jeff Emig as a commentator, I think you could swap out RC for Emig and there wouldn’t be too much of a difference. Weege is so much better than Ralph Sheheen though, that would be a huge step backwards 

Ralph came up with a nickname for Jett Lawrence.................."Rocket Man"     Wonder why that never stuck?

I vote later in the year after the points are decided we have 1 race with Leigh, Ralph, and that Rutledge guy.  I just want to see what happens, call it a Social Experiment and talk about it on the science of supercross.

 

Rutledge and DV would be an instant classic.

Peacock was fn around this weekend and showing figure fn skating. Had to watch the race on Youtube with the two latino bros announcing. Once i tuned it out, it was WAY BETTER than having to listen to RC's crap.

Weeg is annoying, I can't stand the constant screaming out of nowhere to try and focus on something going on that the camera doesn't even show. I actually liked Ralph and Jeff. RC was an animal on the track, but in the booth sounds like he didn't finish the 7th grade.

While I agree the directions from the production team have an impact, RC's problems would remain where ever he worked. In fact this can easily be demonstrated by listening to Title 24.  Zero pressure, not filmed live, no one yapping in his ear, but he still provides little to no analysis. This is the primary problem with RC. It's not the malapropisms and massacring of the English language, all those these are bad enough, it's the fact he provides no analysis beyond what someone who'd never even ridden could provide. 

And on Ralph - never, never again. 

Weege and AC. This would be an exceptional combo for years to come, and they already work for NBC. 

I love RC the racer but come on, he's absolutely horrendous in the booth. 

We did not need Joey Gladstone back, Emig was great, Weege is great, RC is whatever I’m just glad he has some enthusiasm and genuine reactions when things are happening on the track. Stewart is the worst. I understand he’s a total introvert, but he is way too monotone. 

God, I know this is beating a dead horse, but why can’t we just have weege and Blair full-time. Unreal

It doesn't really matter who is in the booth at all. Whoever is running the circus, stop directing the commentators to fabricate excitement. It's racing.. not monster trucks, not Disney on ice. It's a fucking real racing series. You shouldn't have to bullshit the viewers like we are 2nd graders. 

Let Weege commentate like he would for outdoors years ago when it was a good listen. And throw JT in as the color guy. We need racing minded people, yes. But we need literate and smart people in the booth. Stew on the floor. The guy on the floor should be a racer so they can articulate what's going on. Which to be fair, JT does a good job at.

Yeah , I get a little triggered when the commentator is three quarters of a lap behind describing that something that happened back then, and the race on the screen moving forward. Or when he's trying to feebly construct a metaphor of his racing experiences while the race is going on. Who gives a flying fuck?

Im sorry but weege is probably going to be the greatest tv guy we will ever have. Hes extremely knowledgeable and does all the home work. Ralph did none of this. Emig did bare minimum. Rc does do the homework but his delivery isnt good. Weege and Blair would be a very solid team. 

This seems like user error.

Side note, hadn't heard from you much since the Hurricane stuff in NC, hope you and yours are all good.

Jeff? Maybe. Ralph, never. His ego and consistent takes on riders is not needed. His new nickname for the first corner from WSX "Chaos Corner" solidified that he should never be in the booth again. 

I would assume AC or Brayton end up in the analyst Job down the road . Play by play guy the answer is Weege , only other acceptable option would have been Blair (but there is a whole other  thread on Vital about that ……).

Personally I really enjoyed the 2022 outdoor season of rotating analysts with Weege

RC is horrible. For as great of a rider as he was, he sure has no clue as to the fastest way around the track... "Cooper jumping the woops is way faster. Oh, wait.. he just got past by someone blitzing..."

RC definetly needs to be replaced but not by Emig or Ralph. JT, Brayton, or AC would do a better job at it. RC is luke warm, his vocabular is as big as a red necks who never went to school, he can't explain how a pass was made any more in depth than 'he went up the inside' or 'he got a better run through the whoops'. He has no idea how to get technical with explaining anything. 

Can somebody cue up some of the threads berating Ralph and Jeff back when they were in the booth?

You shut your goddamn mouth talking about bringing back Ralphy I will not and refuse to ever listen to that shrill screeching voice and his stupid ass color book of bikes!  Emig is awesome but even Jesus himself next to Ralph on a broadcast requires a quick finger on the mute button. 

Besides WTF would we do during the race thread without Ricky? We have created drinking games and a time honored tradition of pointing out his lack of perperation or calling for passes that don't happen or forgetting how many laps are left or his zig zags and whatchamacallits. How else would we know something big is about to not happen if he didn't shout WHOA?!?
