As of this morning we are on day 4 of "USPS awaiting item", a timing chain for a job sitting on my lift taking up space that shouldve been out my door last saturday morning. Instead, RM has completely screwed me twice in 2 weeks. Now i get to have carpel tunnel surgery tomorrow morning and figure out how im going to tell this customer their bike wont be done until next week the earliest. Thank you Rocky Mountain ATV.

Sounds to me like USPS is the fault. I have horrible luck with them where I live. If you call RM you can request to be put on a FedEx only account. Or if you pay for 2 day shipping it goes fedex. Sorry about your luck dude

If USPS has not received the item, how are they at fault?

Im sure im not alone in feeling this way, its impossible. Ive been a rocky mountain atv dealer for about 10 years now, i dont spend crazy money with them but I use them as my sole provider of parts and apparel to the tune of about 50k per year. The last 2 years have been nothing but trouble, mostly with shipping and packaging, we wont discuss them slowly taking items out of our dealer program (and not letting us know until we order them and the order gets cancelled after the fact), or the fact that we cant even order OEM parts at all anymore (it used to just be the austrian group). Last thursday i received an order, absolutely MISERABLY packaged. It was 2 Dunlop 34's (big bike) in a box with a yamaha genuine top end kit, yamaha genuine clutch kit, yamaha OEM cam chain, (OEM parts ordered from personal non dealer account) and an NGK spark plug. All of this stuff floating around in a box, delicate parts and no packing material (air bags, peanuts, paper, NOTHING). When i opened the box, the cam chain was gone, the spark plug was rolling around outside of its box, and the tires were on top of the top end kit. Long story short, after a 15 minute argument over a $25 dollar timing chain they agreed to send a new one. Shouldve been here saturday but never showed up. Sunday night, in an effort to get this job out the door ASAP, i paid for another timing chain. Here we are on wednesday, that chain should be delivered today if it shipped monday, USPS tracking says they still havent received the package. Sorry for the vent but this company is on their way downhill and its sad. If anyone from RM is reading this, get your shit together please, we depend on you.

If you're doing $50k why not get set up with an actual distributor (assuming you have a business).  You would get FAR better pricing.

They have guidelines that I can not meet, the biggest one is a store front. My business is repair and maintenance, I dont want a store front, retail, and 10k minimum inventory.

Obviously this is just an opinion, but just speaking from my experience, USPS has your package. They just haven’t scanned it in. I’ve had that same message on my tracking page and the item was already delivered.

The Ontrac shipping sucks along with DHL and all these other middleman shipping companies, please go back to using only Fedex. They use to be next day to me if I ordered enough for free shipping and it was from Kentucky. I know thats not realistic all the time but 2-3 days with Fedex should be totally reasonable.

Monday I ordered stuff from RMATV and Motosport, RMATV package from ontrac is actually out for delivery today, the Motosport package shipped with DHL has been sitting in a USPS warehouse since Tuesday, Motosport is in VA and is a one or two day transit with any other shipping service.

I know shipping costs have soared but give us a bit of an option like Fedex only on checkout for an extra $7 and ill gladly pay that, as 99% of the time im ordering from them I need by the weekend to go riding.

Same deal with Partzilla. Make it look like it was shipped on Monday but no movement until Thursday.

I received an RMATV package yesterday. Shipped from Kentucky to MN via FedEx. Box was well packaged, bottle of oil wrapped in paper and small loose parts in a clear bag. Motosport can fly a kite with their DHL shipping choice. RMATV ordered Sunday with tracking showed up Wednesday. Motosport would have no tracking and shows up 1 to 2 weeks later. Never again..

Motosport has been horrible for me. I've stopped using them unless I can wait 2-3 weeks to get whatever I need. Either they don't have the items that they show as in stock, or shipping takes 10 days +.

I don't know why you're getting downvoted on this, you're 100% correct.  As someone who used to design tools for a living for another major tool company this absolutely happens all the time, granted a lot of their products are their own design and work quite well, there are plenty of ripoffs or designs changed ever so slightly as to be passable.  I'm a big RM fan and have never once had issues with their customer service, but the Tusk thing is an undeniable fact.

Now as for the genius above you, that's the entitled attitude that makes this whole scheme work, "I don't care how I get my cheap stuff as long as I get it".  It's easy for people who have built nothing and contributed nothing to have that attitude, loser mentality.

Hopefully he rides a Kove with that attitude.

I use RM when I don't go through my local dealer. I haven't had any problems, and normal shipping to Minnesota. I don't like the Tusk rip offs, I use some of their tools but some of that stuff irks me. Their Rabaconda rip off is brutal.

Been a customer with RMATV for over 20 years and never had an issue. I do spend some coin wit them. I live in a small town and the nearest shop is 30 miles away and doesn't have any inventory.

Rocky Mountain has been great to work with over the years.  With all the crap i order.....it always shows up quickly and correctly.  The packaging has got to be a pain in the ass for these people.  I hope they get the problems that you all see fixed but for me they've surprised me with how quick and good they are.

It seems to me that Motosport started doing the stupid DHL slow crappy shipping about the time their parent company was sold again about middle of 2024.

They used to be one of the better companies with customer service but have for sure fallen of as of late. I have been using United Motorsports and have been really happy with them so far. https://www.unitedmotorsports.com/ great website and easy to navigate and the service has been great. Worth checking out as an additional option.

From what I understand, United Motorsports was one of the original partners in Rocky Mountain ATVMC.

Heck I didn’t even know that was an option

It is, been this way about 2 years. All my stuff only comes FEdEx now because I told them to. USPS would take over a week, have to sign for overnight if shipped that way. Always miss the mailman, so I have to drive to the post office to get my stuff. UPS would either sit in the warehouse a few days before getting picked up or take 7-10 days even if you overnight. Call and ask them if it’s an option for you.

What is a Rocky Mountain dealer?

I don't think I've ever had a problem with RMATVMC.  Everything I've ordered has arrived timely and undamaged.  I don't love using them because I hate when a company dominates a market.  But I use mostly use them out of habit.  I also don't love buying the Tusk products, again because I don't want them to drive other companies out of business.  But it's hard to resist because the prices are so good, and I've never had a problem with a Tusk product.  A few weeks ago I needed a new rear brake pedal.  OEM was like $140, some other brand was like $95 and Tusk was like $65.  How can I resist saving that much money?

Rocky Mountain offers a dealer program to people with businesses who buy a certain amount of their inventory. You must spend 10k per year minimum, and you get discounted pricing on certain items. But, the program has gotten progressively worse through the years.

What is the advantage to going through Rocky Mountain's program, instead of dealing direct with distributors and/or dealing with Tucker Rocky (does that still exist)?

I usually order from them a lot because of the warehouse location. Stuff usually shows up next day and thats a hard perk to beat.

Yes, the dealers should be proactive in building relationships with customers. I can accept being understaffed, but employing people who do not care and that are seemingly miserable to be at work will not get my money, especially if you are charging more than I can get it online. I'm getting the same level of service from powersports dealers as I get from auto dealers these days. The times have changed.

Anyhow, Rocky Mountain ATV/MC is my go to for parts and accessories because accepting the occasional crappy packaging is easier than the disappointment from my local dealers.

I kind of have the opposite problem.  I think the employees at my local shop might be on commission.  When I go in there I get blanketed by a salesman (or often woman).  Sometimes I just want to browse and see what they have.  But instead I get somebody following me around and asking questions.  "Do you ride?"  "What kind of bike?"  "Where do you ride?"  "How often do you ride?"

Agreed-for my shipments they started using OnTrac a couple months ago and they are odd for sure..

One time OnTrac claimed they didn’t feel safe leaving a package at my house -I literally live on a private road with 5 acre lots..

They also delivered a package this past Sunday night at like 8pm…but a couple days late.

That sounds like them! OnTrac shows up in personal cars. Takes over a week to get here. FedEx on occasion was next day with their free shipping. A neighbor friend of mine and myself were trying to figure out what determined if they used FedEx or not. We would buy areosol cans, oil, and items that may get a chemical label, also size of the order to determine. It didn’t matter. If all I had to do was buy some contact cleaner each time to get resonable shipping I would. lol

I usually get my orders the next day unless they ship it USPS. It seems to hang around a while before it is picked up while FedEx is usually in transit the same day as the order.

1/23/2025 9:42am

They are all about volume and pushing as much stuff out of their warehouses as they can. Packaging, customer service ,etc takes a back seat. Spread your moto money around and shop some with the little guys and even your local dealer

1/23/2025 9:48am Edited Date/Time 1/23/2025 9:49am

The whole free shipping model all these big box places use means that they use the absolute cheapest shipping method they can, which will usually be slow. Had a small package from RevZilla take over a week to get from KY to PA via USPS first class mail.

You can be just a repair shop and get set up if you are in a commercial building. No minimums on what you have to stock but there is an initial buy in.
