-So KTM is struggling but apparently Triumph is doing really well.
“John Bloor’s Triumph Motorcycles has been in comeback mode since the 1990s. While he purchased the brand in 1983, production of the new-era machines didn’t begin until June 1990. But since then, the British motorcycle manufacturer has been honing its build quality and diversifying its model lineup with a 2024 range of 17 different motorcycle models. And if 2024’s sales are an indicator, it seems their efforts have paid off.
According to Motorcycles Data (MD), Triumph’s global sales hit its fifth all-time record in a row. In 2024, MD says Triumph sold 133,677 motorcycles globally, a 36 percent increase from the previous year. In addition, the marque has more than doubled sales volumes in five years. Interestingly, MD says that one of Triumph’s better-performing sectors for 2024 was their smaller displacement machines like the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 S. It is this segment that helped increase Triumph’s sales by 50K machines globally.……..”
Bought a 2020 Tiger ADV.... solid as a rock, great bike...have had no issues with it beating the hell out of it off road for the last 4 years.
Seeing a lot of T's on the road these days.
If I was going to buy a street bike, it'd be a scrambler 900.
I would not be surprised to see dirt guys try them and like it so much they buy a street bike.
They're doing well.
Funny to see them doing what's decried by many when it's KTM, that is moving part of production to Asia and focusing on small bikes for the Asian market. That doesn't seem to hurt their "prestige" that much, even when 40% of their sales are small 250-500cc bikes.

I miss my 675. Ohhhhhh that triple sound was so good.
Triumphs are crazy good bikes. They know what is selling but also know when to cut production and change into a new market.
My 2019 Thruxton 1200 R
They stopped making this bike in 2024 because the market shifted from cafe racers to more confortable cruisers. Basically the same bike with different styling, seat, tank, bars.
Hopefully that helps my bike keep or raise its value if I ever decide to sell it 🤞
KICKSTARTARMY 👍
Yea looking across their lineup it seems like they have something for everyone. Everyone knows the sport bike market has dropped off pretty heavily and it looks like they only sell 1 model now the daytona 660. Even then that looks more like its competing with the r7 and has a more comfortable cockpit. I’m not sure if they plan on making enduro versions of the tf 250 and 450 but that would be the logical next step. Theyd really have a massive offering.

A trip to Portugal last Easter on the Rally Pro.
Living 2 miles from the UK base, its been interesting to watch the brand grow, probably the biggest employer locally, i had the chance to get in early, but the money wasnt good enough, they have to compete with all the F1 teams for top talent , but even so they have done a great job... if i was 5 years younger, i would be waiting for a 450 to be delivered.
That's right!!
Went into the local dealership last weekend. Saw the new Triumph bike in person. Seems like solid craftsmanship up close. That seat cover is terrible though. Feels like hard spiked plastic instead of soft leather. That won't stay on there long.
All of the people heard the Triumph was like a KTM with KYB and all of the orange heads jumped shipped.
Everyone posting pics made me go look find pictures of my bike.
I still say its a Black KTM with an aluminum swapped frame. But I'd still buy Triumph over KTM any day.
Yeah pretty much a ktm with a different frame, engine, and suspension.
Pit Row
One of the things I most love about my T....that triple is just pure music.
triumph makes awesome stuff and is an awesome company with good culture. if i was going to buy a bike today in any category, it would be a triumph, with yamaha close second.
I feel the same but wish their ADV lineup was a little smaller/lighter/more capable off-road. I really like their current offerings and I’m sure they are awesome but just a little big and heavy for my intended usage.
I was really hoping for big things from KTMs new 2025 390 Adventure R but with their recent struggles I’m a little reluctant which is exactly what KTM doesn’t need right now. I’m sure I’m not the only one.
My guess is Triumph is probably working on it but time and development cycles are long. My current 390 Adventure is serving me well.
LMAOOOOOO....... nice street bike dipstick....!! ohhhh the amount of morans i fly by on the trails riding those overweight sh-boxes... never gets old seeing them falling over in simple mud holes.. then can't get them back up... LMAOOO.... as they say... a sucker born every minute...
No offense I think my reply just prior to yours was a little more eloquent but pretty much said the same thing ; )
Wow dude....you are truly badass. You can ride circles around guys on your bike that weighs less than half. It must be really bitchin to be you. Maybe one day I can bask in your awesomeness personally.
Post up a pic of your bike/trailer, so I can be sure to wave as I whiz past you with your OHV only bike in the back of your truck.
Don't be fooled....their ADV lineup is plenty capable off-road. Check out video's of Ivan Cervantes absolutely ripping the 900 RP in races. Absolutely insane.
Of course, smaller off road bikes are easier to manage off road. Plenty of other manufacturers that are in that market. Triumphs offerings are pretty savvy for the market they're going after.
I spent a long time waffling between a smaller dual purpose bike or an ADV. I wanted to be able to ride comfortably on the back roads/twisties and freeways at speed while still exploring trails. Everyone on a local message board said, you'll be miserable riding that small DP bike out to the where the dirt is. I'm beyond the stage of life where I need to beat the hell out of myself to have a good time. I've also got nothing to prove to anyone. To be honest, this bike has taken me places I would never have believed.
I also think part of the draw for many of the guys I ride with is ....showing what CAN be done on a big heavy ADV bike. Lot of content out there showing some truly skilled guys doing amazing trails on a 600lb BMW GS....
Oh....and picking them up. You're doing it wrong if you're having trouble picking up an ADV bike.
That's the beauty of motorcycling....there is a bike for everyone and the type of riding they want to do.
You sound friendly and helpful on the trail👍
Sharp bike. 👍🏽
for the record, as someone who's dropped big bikes off road in nearly every scenario, I always get it back up thank you very much. my lower back cries the whole time but the seat heaters and cruise control on the freeway on the way home helps dry the tears.
Man....the heated grips and heated seat are so nice! Even here in San Diego when the temps get down
For those who don't know..... (and this isn't one of the BMW GS bikes that cheat....when they fall over, they rest at an angle on the cylinders sticking out)
Hardest time I ever had getting my bike up, I was in a rut on a fairly steep incline. Normally you drag the ass end around, but that's easier said then done in a rocky rut. (little joke about ADV riders who never see the dirt)
You really have to wonder about peoples mental state who post like that. I had a guy totally lay into me on ADVrider over taking my bike on trails "not designed" for ADV bikes. You can't win with some people. I told him, enjoy your adventure down to the coffee shop. ..
