In that case 9 of the top 10 were all "Loretta Lynns golde boys", so I'm not sure his point. Oh well.

He was talking about 450.

Back in the day, everyone in 450 was done by 28-30, now its most of the class.

I know it's great these guys are sticking around longer. There will be a big turnover in the 450 class in the next couple of years but in the meantime it's great. Not sure why anyone is complaining or somehow blaming it on LL's. lol

Man, I don't know how anyone could watch that and think Anderson is sweating Prado. Got a holeshot and immediately went backwards, then held up the pack for 10 minutes, And finally crashed, which we could all see coming for a good 10 laps. He didn't make any of the progress I thought he would and looked right about where he was last year.

I’m willing to say you don’t have a grasp on how difficult this sport is if you truly believed that, you sound like you’re just trolling though so I’ll give you that because I took the bait

Davies looks amazing on the bike and will continue to improve drastically. He has the proper technique to allow speed to come safely.  Will be watching him closely as he reminds me a Jett/Hanny style on the bike and not because of the 100 number.

Eli was on it, and it would have been an amazing race to see him, Kenny and Chase go at it.

Chase was on it, nothing else can be said. He looked in control, his bike looked much much better and balanced.

Anderson- awesome to see him get an early podium. This keeps the series spicy.

Barcia- great to see him back to form, the series is better with bam bam running up front

Honda has some work to do, it is obvious the bike is reactive and stiff. Jett straight imploded, so now he is on the back foot. In years past, he compounded mistakes, and this year I don’t think he can afford anymore.

Great start to the year and a great night of racing

1st thing I want to say is that huge split start sucked and caused pileups. Big trajectory angle change caused it. They might as well line them up in 2 rows like AX did.

Something about the track layout or dirt was strange. Sand section took bites out of the top racers.

Prado Needs to get confidence in woops but his charge attitude is refreshing. Last year you could see that he had speed but didn’t want to interfere since he would only race a few races. He scored value in those few races.

A1 is a think big picture and ride smart race.

How many A1 winners have still been in the points race and won the championship? Wait till after the 3rd race to see the points battle starting to show.

The top 5  Chase Sexton, Ken Roczen, Jason Anderson, Cooper Webb, Eli Tomac are all in good position.

Actually quite the opposite. I'm a big Prado fan and have been saying from the beginning that he shouldn't come over. If he was going to race supercross, he should've come sooner and raced 250s. Trying to learn sx in the 450 class is a terrible idea no matter how gifted you are. In fact, usually when a 250 SX champion moves up to 450, they end up hurt their rookie season.

But, he made the decision. He gave up the potential to be one of the best GP riders ever. So he needs to make it count. I'm disappointed that he didn't make more progress in the off season. It's a bad sign. I'm sure he put in the work, but he doesn't look good at all. How could anyone watch a GP champion getting swallowed up and crashing and get excited about that. If he wasn't a great starter, it would've been much worse.

I agree, and while i dislike the 'career 250 guys', the LL generation have to come up and be good enough to make them too expensive to keep.

Davies looks like he might be one of those guys.

Deegan is going to be one, already is.

But who was the last ' next big thing' that actually was?   I cant remember. Sexton is the only one who leaps out , and his 250 success was as much about other people imploding, as anything, and his move to 450 was a shock.  The fact he came up and won already, was almost against the run of play based on his 250 showing.  Could you see Shimoda coming up and winning on 450?  i cant .

Meanwhile Forkner is having attempt #19 at a 250 title.

The old guys are still there, because the young guys arent good enough to knock them down.

All the rest have milked the 250 class rather than back themselves against the likes of Barcia and Stewart.  And in SX, they are racing half the 250 class.

Until those Tomac, Barcia, Mookie, Ando etc. sign up for the vet class there is nowhere to go. Look at all the rider in their late 20s in the 250 class. I heard during the broadcast that Jordan smith was 28. I think RJ is close too. I know there are others but I don't think they will bring much star power to the class.

My apologies, you actually know what you’re talking about. I’d say it’s a bit harsh though to say he doesn’t look good at all, just the fact he was able to run the pace of the top 3 is really, really impressive and a great first block to build from. I agree it’s absolutely insane he’s jumping into the 450 class first but I truly in my heart believe there’s only 5 or 6 riders in the world that could do that and he’s one of them

We’re going to find out about RJ later this year.  He’s contracted for 450 outdoors.  Going to be interesting for sure.  With Husky struggling with their current 450 guys, he might actually be a breath of fresh air.

Eli and Chase were the two best riders and it will be interesting to see if they can take advantage of that. Sexton did, Eli didn’t at A1

Shimoda - 22 years old

Beaumer - 18

Smith - 29

DiFrancesco - 19

Deegan - 19

Schock - 27

Rodriguez - 29

Davies - 17

Marchbanks - 24

Thompson - 31

Sorry GrapeApe, I should've made myself clear. I did mean the 450 class. It's even more amazing considering some of the injuries these 30+ riders have had.

If Eli doesn't wash his front end there at the beginning, we may have been treated to a good battle with him and Chase.  Chase looked super solid.  Regarding Jett, his heat race start (and thus heat race finish) got him buggered a bit which gave him a bad gate pick for the main, which impacted his start.  Snowballed on him.  Seemed like he started working through the pack but when he went down in the sand, he backed things down to a manageable pace for the set up of the bike, and just tried to minimize damage on the night.  He certainly had the speed in qualifying, but was no where near that in the main - granted he was working through traffic and never had clear track.  Track kind of sucked to make up time on other riders.  Yes, fast guys could make passes but looking at lap times, damn neat everyone was in the 1:06s for fastest laps outside of Eli and Chase.  Hard to make up a 22 second deficit running those lap times in traffic on a one-fast-line track. Live to race another day.  Definitely made for an intersting night.

Did Jett say he would have/expected/was aiming for the perfect season?

Or is this just media and fans putting words in his mouth again?

Just like last year when he talked about a goal of surpassing 72 wins he said this season that he had a goal going for a perfect SX season.

He also said that he give him self high goals since he have won every title there is to win now on US soil and want to set the bar high to stay motivated.

And as usual plenty of English speaking fans struggle to understand what a goal means, that it’s not a statement that someone WILL do it, it’s just something to aim for.Or maybe a goal means something else in US than here in Sweden and i have missed something?.

Last year Vital exploded because he had a goal of becoming the best and I can just wonder how some of the grown up men here would respond a child that say that they have a goal to be the best at something when they grow up.

It’s perfectly acceptable to have goals.

As a racer isnt it always the goal, to win?

Why do fans get carried away?

In S.M.A.R.T. goals, the "A" stands for "attainable".  And yes we Americans understand plenty about goals.  I think the far vast majority of people in the US like the Lawrence brothers.  I know I do.  They are super popular - their lines for autographs are always around the semi. You never hear boos.  Overall, they are very well liked or loved.  But when ego takes over and what may come across as being a goal for one, may be misconstrued as a prediction by others.  And when predictions fail to come to fruition, that's when you have people coming out saying they told ya so.   Supercross is a different animal in that the start is so critical, and there are so many things that could go wrong on a start.  Or weather impacting race conditions.  To even talk about a perfect season in this field of riders is foolish IMHO.  You have 5 former SX champions in the class this year and 8 different riders that have won main events at one time or another.  Running the table in that field in varying race conditions (including weather), with the races being highly dependent on the start is probably not a realistic "attainable" goal.

"Next big things" don't come along every year. The guys having high expectations coming off 250 were Sexton, Cooper, Plessinger, Webb, Anderson, Tomac, Barcia, and they were each in the top 10 last night. Deegan, Shimoda, and Kitchen should probably catch the first rides once the current 450 class log jam is broken, and yes I do expect Shimoda to be really good in the 450 class. From there is an enormous pool of 16-24 year old kids and who knows who will rattle off a couple of 250 championships and build career momentum. Brown, Hymas, Beaumer, Vohland, Cochran, Adams, those kind of guys.

Those are just the LL grad types, add in Vialle and Prado and whoever else comes over from Europe and the 450 class will be no less entertaining when it turns over.

The amateur system that produced 9 of the top 10? Is that supposed to be bad, or good? I'm not following . . .

I get what you are saying but for me a goal is just a goal and nothing more. I would never take it serious, just like when 10 riders on the gate have a goal of becoming the champion and only one of them will become it.

Nobody believed that he could do a perfect rookie season outdoors, or win his first 450 SX race but he did. I’m not saying that i believed that he could/can do a perfect SX season, but I would not flame him for saying that he had a goal.
