With all the massive wind fires destroying everything around LA will it affect A1?

Even with all the smoke breathing may become a hazzord for fans and racers.

Geezuz, I hope not. We have been waiting so long now for A1. To have it canceled or postponed will be a huge bummer for fans and the riders.

How far is Anaheim from the fires? Around 15miles?

It’s definitely not out of the question. The air quality is terrible out here !!

Hadn't thought about that, that would be a bummer for sure.

IF the fires can be stopped maybe the high mile an hour winds could blow the smoke out to sea but right now there is zero containment

Why did they not start January 6th? I thought it’s always been the first weekend in January? I’m dying over here!

Looking at the weather app on my phone, it shows that there won’t be crazy winds tomorrow, which is good. I keep praying that the fires can be contained and that the crazy winds can be stopped and that everyone is safe and that the firefighters are safe, healthy and strong to fight the fires.

I'm currently in Santa Ana, like 10 minutes from stadium. The fire is about an hour drive north. The smoke seems to be staying and blowing north so we should be fine. The winds are supposed to die down around 2pm today so we will see once it dies off if the smoke will travel south but i highly doubt it will impact the race at all. Only thing it is impacting now is the moisture in the dirt at the stadium, but the crew is so good it will be fine come race day

You expected them to race on a Monday?

I live about 1.25 miles from the stadium. Fires are about 40 miles from the stadium. We don't usually get much, or any, smoke from fires in West LA (this is further West than downtown LA, or Hollywood). More coastal / North Santa Monica. It will depend on wind direction, intensity of fire and many other variables I am not suited to opine upon.

I think the greater risk, at this point, is a fire developing in Orange County. The Stadium isn't to far from Santiago Canyon. If a substantial fire breaks out there, it can get bad at the Stadium... again, depending on the variables. Winds should be slowing down tomorrow.

Other variable is large infrastructure damage, mainly power. A lot of power lines around here are under ground. With Honda Center, Angel Stadium, Disneyland and some major hospitals all close, the grid is pretty stable. No local power outages (yet).

Better to postpone it now. I wouldn't want to breathe this stuff.

This is horrible for all involved. The videos online look crazy bulldozers out pushing cars out of the road running out of water what a mess! I hope everyone is able to get out in time and the first responders come out safe.

How far is this from LAX? I didn’t start any research on that but that can affect things.

Hazzord would be a cool name for one of those giant robots in the Power Rangers

They had Monster Jam Saturday and Sunday at Anaheim.

In San Clemente you can smell the smoke to some extent as of Wednesday at 1PM. For reference if you are not from the area, that is about 30 miles South of Angel Stadium. The closest fire is another 30 miles or so North of Angel Stadium. I don't foresee any possible world where the fire makes it anywhere close to the Stadium, the bigger issue is power grids being turned off in certain areas, and also smoke in the air. I would think by Thursday evening or Friday that the smoke has more or less cleared from the area.

Was just researching and seems like it won’t affect the airport, but you never know.

Nope.  Time to race.

Honestly it shouldn't affect the race, unless the wind goes low and directly Southeast. Anaheim stadium is 28 miles away from the Eaton fire, 40 miles away from the Palisades fire, and 50 from the Hurst fire.

If NW winds go, it would blow all the smoke down to Anaheim

I’ll be flying in Friday around lunch. Hope it’s all taken care of by then for the people who are losing their homes.

It's a war zone, that's the only way to describe it. People were ditching their cars in traffic jams and it looked liks a scene from the walking dead. So much desctruction and devastation.

I don't see the smoke affecting A1 as there's another mild offshore flow expected so it will blow any remaining smoke back out to sea if it even affects OC before Saturday.

That's just par for the course for LA
