With every step forward in technology, society as a whole regresses intellectually.
Television - in particular Music Television post Beavis and Butthead, has made kids more dumb one Jersey Shore episode at a time
Cellphones - we now elect to communicate via text, a means once relegated to the deaf.
Computer - Instead of reading the news, we watch a video on the interweb.

Don't forget 4-stroke technology and the regression of rider skills as a result!

Greed, stupidity and ignorance.

All problems currently facing us could easily be solved thru cooperation and a little applied intelligence. Greed, stupidity and ignorance short-circuit most attempts to deal with problems.

If you could harness the power of greed on this planet... our energy problems would be solved for the next several centuries.

The world?

I'd have to say hunger. Next would be access to clean potable water.

I was serious on that one. When there is less people, there is more land to go around, more of everything per person. Used to be having a 1000 acres was no big deal, now 50 acres is a lot, and its only getting cut up more & more. More people using resources (ie gas, electricity, food, textiles) and no end is sight of people reproducing like rabbits.

I had one kid, that is it. Most people have kids like theres no tomorrow with total disregard for how to fund their upbringing and education. Countries like China, India and all the rest are totally out of control and it will eventually reach a breaking point between the haves & have-nots. All the rest of the ills fall in line after over-population.

I know and I agree. It is the single biggest issue which leads to hunger war etc. . The other stuff was just fluff.

Hey don't sweat it - the biggest problem in the world at the moment is a lack of optimism and historical perspective - all fueled by our wonderful media.
The rate of population growth is constantly slowing at a faster and faster rate as the world gets more affluent and women in particular are emancipated in poorer countries. At current levels it will top out at about 9.6Billion in 2050 - fact.
Give your self a bit of peace of mind and read The Rational Optimist by Matt Ridley - it was a big hit both sides of the pond earlier in the year.

Excelent. It seems man has made great strides in science but not so much in the humanities. Case in point, we have the means to obliterate every person on the planet but not a sanity level to keep from such.

Which is a direct result of overpopulation.

If there were fewer people, there would be plenty of food and potable water to go around.

I agree, but the biggest threat is water rights being purchase by private industry.
