Is this a shot at Matthes' integrity?

I'd be curious to know what makes you feel that way.  I know that lots of people get mad at Matthes because of his politics and in the modern era most people aren't mature enough to be able to see past politics, but I've never seen Matthes' integrity questioned.

Exactly. Steve's politics are pretty much opposite of mine, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have integrity. Good Lord people put too much identity in that crap now.

Pro tip: if you don't want to deal with Matthes politics, just don't follow him on the Twitters. He seems to limit his politics to that platform, and rarely talks politics at all on any of his audio and video shows. The occasional race tech rant might have a slight political viewpoint, but it's rare.

Been listening to Steve forever and I don’t even know where he stands politically…  It’s irrelevant to racing and racing is THE most important thing there is.

What the fuck has happened to us that when we encounter someone of differing viewpoints, political or otherwise, we dismiss this person completely rather than try to grow or learn from the experience? I do not agree with Matthes's politics or necessarily enjoy the show, but to dismiss him and his contributions because of political views is narrow minded. Life should be spent searching for information, not affirmation. Keep rocking Matthes, make your living, I will gladly skip your bro down episodes and Keefer's jerk off talk, but still enjoy your meaningful new interviews and past Canadian Racer X interviews like the Barnett, Omara, and Ward classics.

I completely agree, i’ve never really thought about bringing politics into any conversation about this sport or anything to do with this sport. Yeah there are politics in the sport hut they should only be talked about at the right time. I’m completely different than him with my views, but i still listen to his shows(haven’t listened to re raceables) and i appreciate what he does for the sport

You're right it does not matter but, you obviously haven't been listening to him forever.

With the pending doom and gloom of the KTM debacle it’s easy to see why someone would voluntarily look for a better alternative than the unemployment line. When KTM employees didn’t get paid this month and the pending cuts it’s not rocket science to find another landing spot before the axe falls on half of the workforce. Daniel has succeeded in all of his endeavors and I’m sure his new venture will ensure his family is taken care of financially. After all he relocated from Nor Cal to the Carolinas to better his family. Hope his gig lands him a visible role.

Yes but would be smarter to get laid off then just quit.

Why?  To qualify for South Carolina's unemployment at $326/week?

No he hasn't been listening forever.   Mattress is who he is.  I listened to him from episode 9 or thereabouts when Kenny first started.

Today there are so many more shows that are to the point and just "talk  about the motorcycle stuff" that I don't listen anymore.  Most of my freinds like me, over 55 to 75 that  don't listen to him anylonger as there are much better platforms today.....

I'm far from a Pulp fanboy, but please name those "other platforms" that only talk about the motorcycle stuff....

For the record, I'm almost in your demographic.

Fair enough, I've never listened to Darksides show. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

My comment had nothing to do with politics  I have no idea what either of them believe politically.   I just don't think Matthes would add anything to a long form podcast format.  I'm not a fan of his interview style.   DB would do fine by himself,  imo.  The integrity comment was specifically referring to DB's standards for his work, not that Matthes has low or poor integrity.

The assumptions made by some on here are ridiculous,  if not entertaining.

Happy New Year!

DB has made some questionable moves the last few years.   I remember listening to him way back when on Pulp and at the time he owned some sort of company that made hand cleaner or something, they used to joke about it on Pulp.... something about eagles or something.  Just vaguely remember it.  He sold that company, I think to focus on his TV career.... which he seemed to be awesome at.  But then later he announced he was quitting that gig, which I thought was very very strange since he had just got started.   Then heard he was working for KTM and their junior riders, which was great, and then now we have all the KTM issues, so he seems to have bailed on that.    And now he's on to doing a show with Pulp it sounds like.   Love DB, but he seems like he's made some bad decisions the last couple years and also had some bad luck (joining KTM).

He's made decisions, sure. Bad ones?

He moved across the country with his family, seems to be genuinely happy and by all accounts is still successful. He started a business and sold it for a profit, seems like a good decision to me.

Your comment absolutely implies Mathes doesn't have integrity, and nobody said it had anything to do with politics.
No assumptions were made lol

Didn't say bad decisions, said questionable.  He seemed really into the whole TV thing, and really good at it, getting all kinds of praise.  But then just bailed on it out of the blue.  Thought that was very odd.... those jobs only come around so often, so to give that up was just strange, to me anyways.   I'd bet good money he'll be trying to get back into a TV job, although now it seems like the both is overflowing with people.   I have expect Dunge to be making a play again for some TV time.

I hear you on that, but there is definitely a lot more to the TV deal and him leaving that is yet to be heard. He's made that really clear. Based on everything he's said, I don't think he bailed on anything, sounds more like a being forced out kind of thing.

Dunge didn't do that well when he had some TV time, to me it seemed like he needed to be pulled along. Maybe I'm remembering that incorrectly?

Forced out?  By who, RC?  That was a Cocksey accusation, wasn't it?  The guy that seems to have it out for RC LOL.   Why would they force out DB, but then allow JT to stay, then now they have brought AC and JB in there as well.  Surprised Cocksey hasn't done a video yet on how Hubbard was pushed out because RC didn't like him LOL.

Nothing to do with that loser "content creator" or whatever he fancies himself lol. DB, Mathes, and others have hinted at DB not leaving on his own terms.

I don't know or think it was RC himself, but I think his role fits into the equation somewhere.

DB briefly covered it on the Pod this week…. I’ll recap quickly.

-DB left KTM on his own, and was not part of the financial woes KTM is going through at the moment

-DB is NOT going to Star

-DB is NOT going back to the SX broadcast

-Main Event Moto is expanding BIG this year. More co hosts, more shows, more content AND There will be something new that will be released soon that is really cool!

-It was not covered in the pod this week, but Yes DB is doing a pod with Steve. Not sure on the cadence but that’s it. Just a show with Steve and DB.

You can catch us over on Patreon still! We aren’t going anywhere!
