Talking about that crafty frenchie, this race is also great! Sneaky line!
Main event starts at 24 min:
Great race! What I got out of that is remembering how much I liked Guy Cooper!!!
What were those 2 long sections of bumpy things that actually took skill to navigate? Looks really dangerous.
Except MC wouldn’t be riding Honda. JMB and Stanton on Honda 250. MC picked up JMB ride after he retired from MX/SX. Otherwise he would still been racing 125’s or Kawaski might have picked up MC instead of Picking up Larocco.
I never like the guy because he was beating my hero's. He had so much natural talent and speed nobody could stop him.
JMB was just soooo cerebral in his racing. I think he was the first to really evaluate SX differently than everyone else. He redefined preparation for SX and must have had a totally different view on it. Very smart. Mc followed in his foot steps.
Cooper was such an entertainer! Always did the sickest whips for the crowd. Him sending the Godzilla was it was still an uphill triple was badass
He was mentally checked out by '92 or he could have won more titles. How different would the 90's have played out of he was still motivated? He was 23yrs old when he quit
Pretty sure he commented he needed something more challenging so he went road racing.
I lusted after those boots. Not in my budget at the time.
All I can think of when I see those was how stiff they were brand new lol
🤣🤣🤣
Gear was so different then. The google foam was tough too.
MC had 2 125 sx championships 91,92. I,m a Big fan of JMB & his brake dragging technique in the whoops. I saw him race the 500 at Millville in 91. I saw the sneak up burst on Stanton near the last lap to get the lead. Crafty smart rider u use no energy following . Wait for your spot & dart to the lead. But MC still would’ve dominated in 93if Bayle stuck around. Huffman is a lot smoother & more technical rider than Bayle & he got 1 win. It took Bayle 3 yrs to get a 125 world championship on a factory Honda. A bike much better than the rest. Great 500 rider though. I think he has his body too high on the bike. Cut in & blast him or drill him in the back of the swing arm . With all his body too high he hits the deck or looses control.
Pit Row
Bayle rode a "factory" 125 Honda in World Championship only one year (1988). The year before (1987) he wasn't supported by HRC. And in 1986, he wasn't even riding a red bike (Kawasaki), and only rode a few GPs.
To compare Bayle and Huffman is just f..... hilarious!
JMB, Bailey and Lechein were all the ”perfection” of the 80’s, then came Everts in the 90’s/2000’s.
There is something special about riders that can go fast and at the same time looking slow and not over reving and over riding the bike like most have a tendency to do.
Back in the 80’s and early 90’s when the riders rode a 500 a lot that would cater to that riding style, but now days with electronics and smooth power bands it’s rare to see a rider being as smooth as Jett is.
JMB was one of a kind and a couple of times a year I put this on https://youtu.be/63jhWk_qGK8?si=rb3-_nrLqWdYJwsy
You think so Damon has the most podiums of any 125 or lights rider. Beat the unbeatable RC in 97 at Troy with huge leads. 1st yr on a 250 he almost won Seattle but the clutch was gone. Remember everyone had quick adjust clutches the next week. Then wins atl then blows his knee out. 3 1/2 months later with a reconstructed knee . I saw his red bud qualifier holeshot then pulling threw the valley after the ski jump. Soo stylish & ultra smooth. Then off rd for yrs . Then a motorcycle cop in LA that’s brave rt there. I love JMB tho crafty racer & Great passer. Check this steel city 500 natl out. Ward won the last2 yrs the pass JMB slinger on him was 1 of the best. Pass on Stanton was great too. See bid below Travis vs on 125,s Jmb Pastrana had raw speed no way too ride any faster. I ,d take Travis in that match up. On a 250 No. I think Jmb is faster on a 250.
I bought a 91 cr250 with so many hrs that the pegs where bent down. Did a cheap frame out split the cases. After i thought it had air leak. It screamed real high with the throttle stuck wo. Lauching up the ski hill flying ramp. I figured I better rebuild it. The bike handled Great inside & outside any line flat or bermed . Great power too it came with a pc pipe & answer silencer, installed a rad valve . Noleen did a great job revalving . Got a fmf pipe cheap & sold the dented up pc. Did a lot of ice riding on it . So easy to brake drag it in & shoot out of a corner.
Did you hear MC make this comparison in his recent interview of the 93 season? Thanks for sharing!
Jett a modern JMB, maybe.
Post a reply to: JMB Tampa SX 1992 F%RK he reminds me of a modern day Jett Lawrence
