So I wound up pulling the trigger on the KX 112 that’s my son standing behind it we are the same height but I’ve got a little bit more weight on me but even with its stock suspension. That is the most fun I’ve had on a bike since I was a kid it’s the perfect size for my track. I love the hell out of it definitely going to send it to factory connection and get it re-sprung And anything else they might recommend for my heavier weight but other than that as far as I’m concerned I’ve been missing out I should’ve got a KX 100 years ago. This is about the perfect bike for me and my little track. What’s weird is the bumps are a little rougher on it of course it’s smaller wheels then the 250 but one of my favorite little jumps on my track felt awesome when I would land it actually felt a bit better than my 250 did which is weird but anyway I’ll throw an update about the new suspension. Once I get it sent off and get it back. Thanks everyone for all the great advice.

Awesome! glad You are enjoying it and I'm sure it will be even better after You get it setup for You!
Congrats! I would buy one myself but my legs are too long. Let us know how that new engine feels. They made some nice improvements on paper. If your looking to save some money I would try heavy springs before sending it off to FC.
The real Sasquatch I love that me and my stepdad are always planning to go look for Bigfoot one day we will yeah I also I didn’t realize how much less loud the two-stroke would be than that for stroke I had I really missed that two-stroke sound as a kid when I first started getting into the bikes They of course were all two strokes, it kinda felt like going home. It was just great feeling all around.
Thanks MX addic I’m still kind of breaking it in and I didn’t want to get too hard on it but even just within breaking it in and being easy yesterday it hauled my butt around just fine. Pulled me up my big hill with no problem. Of course I have to stay on it a little more. It is a two-stroke, but as of now, I have no complaints at all as for Springs. I’m going to call Cannon and see what they might have to offer.

Just make sure to buy the correct ones the first time in case you end up sending it out and have to buy another.
Start saving money for a 250 too. As you gain confidence on this bike your mind will draw you to it. It's a natural progression.
I think you’re misunderstanding I just sold my crf250 r can’t touch ground on the freaking things that’s why I went to a KX 112 I won’t be getting a 250 ever again that was the whole point of doing this
I've witnessed many adult males in Japan riding these bikes for the same height limitation reasons.
Yah I got the nickname Sasquatch from a Team owner I was doing graphics for. So it felt like a good screen name to use when I signed up. I did not want to use my company name and make it look like I was spamming. When I got my first 450 I had FC do it and they told me doing the springs without valveing would make it rebound too quickly and that the valving and springs together should be done for it to work the best. Since I was on the bigger sized end. 6'9" 240 at the time.
I put a flywheel weight on mine which makes it a really fun trail\moto bike. Mellows out the hit
How tall are you John? I missed that before...it is cool you went this route, all about fun.
After riding a couple of customer's super minis, I'm definitely considering it for my assault on the Vet 50 class. I hit everything on the night and day track at our local track so , Why not?
Be lots of sad faces riding 450s when then get passed. I would love to see someone do that.
I’m only 5 foot five I need a new user name but also I have short legs I mean I can handle a 250 or a 450 when riding but it’s the fun factor I’m looking for it always felt like an event to get on it and ride on my little track which also lens itself to a smaller bike anyway I don’t quite have enough room to open up a 250 or 450 really anyway I mean it was just like a perfect fit yesterday when I went around a few times on my little track again it was just so much more fun. I’m in the process of building some new jumps now I’ve got a big mound of dirt I have to remove with my tractor beside my metal building. Going to see sift all the rocks out because it’s extremely rocky with my homemade rock softer this bike has really fired me up about riding again Dare I say I almost kind of dreaded getting on the 250 I mean this KX 112 it just feels right there’s no anxiety about it I guess it’s so much lighter to anyway I’ll go on and on. It was definitely the best decision for me.
like mentioned earlier, Get the proper spring rate before anything else. I haven't decided on a Kawi or build a YZ. I rode a KTM after the races a few weeks ago and there was only 1 vet 30 giving me issues. That will be fixed with oxygen level lol
Also, I talked to Mark at Canon race craft for springs for my weight and revlalve , forks, and shock looking around 800. I don’t think that’s too bad considering some of the other guys wanted $1500-$2000 and most them didn’t even have the spring that was Stiff enough for my weight it was just close, the only other best deal I got was from race tech they said if I bought the canon springs and send it with the suspension they would put them in and revalve for around 1000 but I’m going to let Mark at Cannon do it he said he actually resprung and Valved a YZ 85 for a 400 pound guy just to ride around on can’t imagine he was doing any jumping but anyway he told me if he could do that he could do anything. He said my job would be a walk in the park. Sounded like a really cool guy. He explained a lot of stuff liked him a lot. Definitely getting my business
I love my 112. Added Bar Risers and pro Taper Bars for a bit more room and have the mounts in the forward position. They are super fun and I actually kinda fit it. Small dude issues. LOL Added levers and few bling parts since this photo

Copy that. I am an old 5'8 and keep thinking about a TM112 myself. Pumped that you went ahead with it all.
Super cool post. I’ve been considering getting the same bike. I had a really bad injury and i haven’t regained enough function/strength for a full size moto bike but I have been able to return to riding pitbikes quite well again and I thought maybe a supermini would help me get back to riding moto with the buddies on a bike that I could safely control/ride. Hoping it’s like a more powerfull and better spring TTR 125 feeling.
congrats on the new 112, it’s a great looking bike. 👍 I sat on one at red bud and instantly fell in love. Haha
Pit Row
Any updates guys, this was an interestin read im building a kx 112 to my spec at the moment, be great to talk to other adult owners doing the same.
Cheers Steve.
I follow Dave Osterman on Instagram and he rides a yz 80. And loves it
I have a 100 we built to race/ride off-road, have had great success on it, still riding it on occasion.
Key mods:
pr2 racing link, the stock one is terrible for large hits/medium g-outs, it's way to progressive
rear shock valving, there's a lot to gain and with a good suspension tech and gold valves, you can make the rear end much more composed and a lot more hold up in the middle of the stroke
yz85 fork internals with the external adjusters, sprung and valved (didn't gain too much from the front, just springing it and setting the oil level does enough)
pro circuit clutch springs, stiffer and provides greater feel to fan the clutch; keep an extra set of plates handy, OEM ones tend to hold up very well
lectron, vforce reeds, pro circuit pipe and silencer; stock carb is fine, you can do a pipe and go 2 up on the main and it runs perfect, I just did the carb because I was having some cranky cold starting issues on occasion, which isn't great for le mans starts at hare scrambles
I've never touched the motor. It's stupid reliable as it is, never saw any reason to mess with it. Wiseco and OEM pistons, one bottom end rebuild that still had good life left but did it while it was all apart. Keep an eye on the exhaust bridge lining in the cylinder, high wear spot.
all the other normal stuff; tall bars and a set of rox risers, tall seat from guts, after market pegs, oversized tank, +1 on the CS. Tried a FWW, didn't really care for it, felt even though it took away some of the habit to wheelie on you in 2nd/3rd gear, felt like it made it too lazy and found myself abusing the clutch even more to keep it wound up.
I am on the "lengthy" end of about 5'6", legs are trunks from cycling, so I do enjoy riding it sometimes in tight single track vs my 125. I sometimes will ride the "vet" track on it as well, mainly I can put in a long 35+ min moto and not feel wore out, also great for scanning for line selection or sneaky lines to keep momentum and not bury it. Little things to keep in mind, like the stock plastic stator cover, oil filler cap, they are made to be cheap and light, if you are going to ride it seriously you need to trash them becuase heat and abuse will just kill them. Also remember it's meant for kids up to about 5'4", so you'll be sitting backwards and your butt is riding on the fender, boots rub against the seat standing up, chassis is a little "soft" and even if you've never felt frame flex, you will for the first time and learn much about it.
50+ on a 112 sounds like a place for me. Never thought about it. Did the 110 thing and had a blast but quit big bikes when they went 4 stroke so its been a bit. Honey we might be getting the band back together where are my tie-downs!
Fry or Fray?
Johnny
Have you thought of lowering the suspension with spring spacers for the front and a shorter spring on the rear.
I did this for my wife’s crf 250 r .she came from a 150 r big wheel I did the taller seat, bar risers tall bars but the issue is the foot peg to seat height is what makes the riding position awkward
She is 5.6 so close to the height of you she now likes the bigger bike and has a much better riding position.
Need a new user name.
I talk with Cam at barker bros TM importer.there is an option for the TM 112 to be built with a full size perimeter frame,19 “ 21 “ rims/tires just like a full size 125/144. Except it is a 112 cc. Something to consider as Kawasaki doesn’t offer that and still a stock TM 112 is far better built that the green machine.
Awesome
Dang, im wanting a 112 now
This is interesting. I was thinking about purchasing a CRF150R expert.
I know its heavy, slow, and poorly suspended, but I would like a CRF250F. Both the KX112, 100, and 250F are pretty expensive(ish). Hard to justify $2500-4K on one.
How stoked are you with that 112? Those are absolute screamers! When you get that set up for you, its gonna be wild.
When the CRF150F first came out, I got one because the series I raced had a dedicated class for it. A good friend of mine also raced one in the Vet class and would leave everyone on 450s behind by the end of the first lap. One bike I would like to add: the latest CRF250F looks like an absolute blast bike to build. If you are looking for inspiration, just check out the scenes coming out of Brazil. They Race 230's
