Pet Peeves

My biggest pet peeve?

People who wear pajama bottoms to the grocery store, ESPECIALLY young men. Fuck sake, nothing says you are unemployed and live with your girlfriend and her parents more then a dude wearing pajama bottoms out in public. I so badly want to go up to them and say something, but mostly I just wince and look around and give head nods to all the other men in the area who are displaying the same amount of disgust.

I'm debating disclosing another pet peeve but I'm not sure I feel like getting a bunch of thumbs down this early in the day. Perhaps after some late day drinking.

Not sure why this one bothers me so much but when you let someone in front of you in traffic and they don’t wave? Infuriating! If I were driving a hoopty I would so crash into your ungrateful ass right now. Instead, I’ll just quietly hurl insults in your general direction.

I was just about to post this... There's only one way.

I did have a girlfriend years ago that had a couple of cats. She said it kept them from unrolling the entire roll. I don't have cats, so over the top is the only way.

Or "in between + and the line".

But I can see with pipe, horseshoes and hand grenades, that tight of a measurement is pointless.

🤣

Proper way to measure is from the center of the anus to just beyond the tip

You should do land surveying work because I'd love to build a fence 10 feet into my neighbors property.

That's why the metal hook on a measuring tape is so handy.   You've got an "edge" to hook it into.

See, apparently every little fraction of an inch does indeed matter when measuring pipes.

Paccar trucks(pete/kenworth) thinking that making more things on the truck mulitplexed with more wiring, chassis modules, solenoid valves, etc is a lick better than hardwired. All we do is chase electrical problems. The wire size is much smaller and the harnesses are now wrapped with a single layer of a bit tougher electrical tape. None of it works better than the old school way. Always some update to do too. Or the oem software we use doesn't work. Very maddening. Engineers should have to service the shit they come up with before it is put into production.

2nd that engineers should have to service the vehicles they design.  Have you seen the oil change procedure on the 6.7 Rams? You have to screw a cover onto the filter after taking it off the engine then turn it and remove it out the passenger side wheel well, all while holding a hot, oil-filled filter. Fucking joke.

This is the lamest one I read on this whole list (narrowly over the guy who gets bothered by people smoking weed on their own porch, if it was a bottle of whiskey it’d be fine right?)

Why do you care what another man is wearing on his lower half? It’s not indecent exposure, it’s literally just a different fabric on their legs. I literally did this yesterday, as I do pretty much every time I go anywhere. Plad, fuzzy, warm, PJ bottoms, that’s the #1 option once it gets too cold for Bball shorts. Work pants are for work, not my fault you enjoy being uncomfortable. And what exactly can you do in your jeans that I can’t in my pjs? One time I had a bad cut on my ass, didn’t wanna miss a race, so the next weekend I raced 250 & open A in sweatpants.

I never wore jeans to school once. Sweats, bball shorts, or pjs every single day. That’s the last time that I ever had someone say something about it so I’d love for someone to come up to me in a grocery store with some fashion advice lol. I definitely do not live with my gf and her family.

My biggest pet peeve is people who don’t mind their own fuckin business!

Exactly. And the weed thing does get old. My neighbor does it nearly every day. At the grocery store, hell sometimes even in traffic. It’s annoying.

Had a customer with a 2020 Pete 389 powered by a Paccar. Seventeen thousand miles on it and couldn’t keep it out of the dealership. Yanked it out and built em a fresh Cat. The new stuff is trash. Way too much unreliable electric smart garbage. It’s so smart it’s stupid.

Apologies if it seems to be piling on with regards to your pajama issue.  My daughters boyfriend has done that in the past. Though I can’t stand it, I think what it comes down to is the difference in generations of what’s acceptable.

From my perspective, though I could really give a shit, it just looks lazy as fuck. It gives off those, I hate taking a shower vibes and, probably didn’t brush my teeth before heading out either.

I have a relative who’s always saying, “I can’t figure out why I’m single”. Well, it’s cause your appearance is sloppy. You want a chick who’s a ten while you look like a fuckin bum. You don’t have to look like you have money. You just have to look like you take care of yourself. Quit thinking it’s ok to take a girl out on a date while wearing house slippers. Hit the town looking like a gentleman for fuck sakes.

No doubt, our lists could be endless.

First, and foremost,

People who don't follow through with what they say they're going to do.

Especially at work.

Second,

Fair weather friends/family members.

Edit, after reading Sumdood's post.

Anyone smoking a cigarette anywhere near me.

Or someone walking into my shop with one.

Trust me, you think I'm an asshole online...

I started to re-read some of the responses and, came back across your second peeve. That really strikes a nerve and, I will take it very personal.

It gets very old dealing with people like that. I just dropped my entire group of people I fish with this past weekend. One of them, a friend I’ve known since we were both apprentices plumbing back in 99’. Moving forward, looks like I’ll be fishing solo for a very long period of time.

People suck lol

I'm just the opposite of some of you.

I never have smoked but the scent of cigarette smoke outdoors triggers happy memories from my childhood of going to farm auctions and going fishing with my dad. Back when it seemed everybody smoked in the 70's and early 80's. My dad never smoked around me(he and mom quit before i was born) but the smoke was from all the other men who were near us. I don't mind it in a shop setting either where welding/machining is taking place. It just seems so blue collar to be smoking a cig while running a lathe or a mill.

Inside smoking in buildings or cars sucks however.

I'm not a fan of vape clouds hitting me in the face either. I went mushroom hunting up in the mountains with my vaping bro-in-law once. He drove so it was his rules. I think his vape flavor of choice was "Sweaty gym socks". STUNK. I called him on it and he told me I sounded like his wife.

Going to a website and having to dig thru menu after menu of bullshit to get to a phone number so you can call and speak to an actual human being for customer service.

....and when you get that phone number, you have to go thru all those  bullshit menus/prompts (usually having to speak what you want and it not working) to get to a person.

...and finally, it says, "Due to high call volume, leave your name and number and we'll get back to you".

To which, they never do.
