I'm in a good routine down here in Cape Town. 12 - 14 hrs work each day and look forward to the weekends.
Saturday's, weather permitting I hit the garden work ( with a few beers) and always finish off with a barbecue or cook up of some sort.
The outdoor MX sets up the pefect Sat evening. Racing typically starts around 9pm/ 10pm here so I only get to sleep around 2 - 3am Sunday morning.
Sunday's have been good. It's winter here and when the weather is ok I'll walk my dog on the beach for a couple of miles. I need the exercise more than she does.
Sunday afternoon's are spent watching MXGP, SBK, MotoGP or F1...whilst I do a lunch / dinner.
Lately I have been getting a feeling like something is missing...like I'm looking forward to something which I can't identify. Maybe it's because of too much of the same routine but I do feel something is missing.
My best friend passed away a few years ago. Him and myself would play mx vs atv against each other...and many other games. I sure miss him and our racing. The competitiveness between us was huge and we would heckle each other while we played.
My other best friend Caleb is living in LA and coaching at Pala..miss him terribly. He was also a gaming partner.
Don't know if age is a factor, I'm closing in on 53 and it feels like I'm slowing down and missing something.
How are you folks making out?
Beating dogs and taking care of my stroke victims.
Other than that ,it's rather boring.
Enjoying a bit of downtime between homebuilds.
Getting ready to head out for a bit of 4×4 trail action before coming home, then heading a few miles back into town for the fireworks show.
The local city of Kingston puts on one of the best ones in the country.

Struggling a bit.....
Knees have gone to shit....
Had 3rd rooster comb shot yesterday. Both are swelled up and aching today. Dr says could be 6 weeks before I see any improvement. Trying to make it to winter and schedule replacement about 3 months apart.
Tore my right bicep, the arm I have been struggling with since tearing my rotator cuff that now needs a reverse ball replacement.
Klr 650 I bought is sitting in the garage. I can't even get a leg across it right now, and afraid if I dropped it I wouldn't be able to pick it up.
trying to drop some weight To help with knees, and everything else but darn, it is hard when it hurts to even walk. I can't even swim with my arm.
I log into Facebook every couple of weeks and another friend from my past has passed.
Personal life is kind of sucking.
Mother's health is deteoriating.
Trying to get motivated to start a swedish death cleanse.....meh....
Life is a series of peaks and valleys. Right now I feel like I should put in an application on the titan recovery work.
Hoping things turn around.
It does help me keep a glimmer of optimism that others here have gone through the valleys and appear to be back to climbing a mountain

Hang tough Joe, you’ll get there. Just make sure you do ALL the rehab when you get rebuilt, especially the rotator cuff. My dad had his done and cut a few corners on the rehab and his range of motion is limited.
Managing sciatica while staring at the grass I gotta cut in a bit. It’s the 4th so, I’ll be grilling all day and, playing nice with people I don’t care for.
I didn’t get to do anything this long weekend I wanted to do and, I’m dreading climbing seven flights of stairs tomorrow knowing this fucking sciatica is going to really flare up. This has been a problem going on two weeks now.
Other then that, I’m looking forward to salmon season kicking off and, having tits bounce in my face later tonight.
Be safe, Happy 4th fellas.
I dont want to complain because so many are worse off. I have been on a downward spiral since covid really. Went from riding, fishing, golfing most days and planning our dream property to just going through the motions and no motivation and still weak in my right arm from injury. Everyone says I was always the most motivated. My boats sat for years now, I wake up feed animals and eat too much myself and repeat. The math used to workout on our retirement and now it doesn't. I've been so lucky financially but I don't know how people can survive out there anymore. The middle class is definitely getting destroyed on purpose. Kings and peasants is the governments ultimate goal. It makes perfect sense if you are a king.
Had friends come in town to visit and since our house is still under hurricane construction I decided to rent a big house for them on the water and I scrambled to get my saltwater boat tuned up after sitting as I had always promised them a fishing trip and hoped they inspired some motivation, new jack plate pump, new trim tabs, new powerpole, trim needed bled and then half way to pick them up my steering went out and it took me 5 hours steering the 250 with my hands bearhugging it home. Borrowed buddies boat and actually had the most fun in years. Caught a bunch of fish and goofed off on paddleboards. My house just got new roof finally, still no insurance money, tomorrow maybe i guess they say. I paid for 3 roofs, drywall, electrical, insulation, fences, clean up etc and no insurance yet and could see hurricanes again. Its mentally and finacially draining. I didn't get to replace my truck yet even though I had ordered one because I have been worried about money. All the charities I donate to have called and for the first time in decades I couldn't do it. I sat in my tractor yesterday mowing listening to moto pod casts from about 7am to dark and it started storming early and I just kept on while lightning struck all around me and I didn't flinch. Then I get a call about a long lost friend from the pod casts had passed and pretty bummed out and a bit mad at life. I'm still ok but worry for everyone struggling. Hey atleast Alta got fixed and in shipping so I might be able to finally ride it. Hope everyone is else good.
I have to say this house we rented was beautiful and my wife and I got to enjoy it alone for the last few days.
Aaagh man, i feel and hear you....
Doin super duper. M-W-F hockey skills for an hour and half sure makes it a nice start to the day when its 90 outside.
If I could have my 40 year old body back...I wouldn't have a complaint in the world.
Check that...I went to a new restaurant the other day...the food was terrible...and the portions were so small
Decent
WSX last saturday, a few days away hopefully next week, a commentary job at the following weekend , and then off to Lommel MXGP, which will be my first GP in Europe for a while.
Got some races in myself too, my 89 RM250 Build that i did in 4 weeks at the start of the season is running sweet, and i have had a few top 5's on it after being barely Top15 at the opening round.
Glad to hear you are doing ok Boomslang
Another check in ya all.
This weather we got here is really starting to suck balls...winter is just about to get into full swing. The rain and cold in the mornings is punishing me properly, all the old injured bones are protesting...the Cape of Storms is here for another three months.
Nevertheless, I'm good. Been focusing on only the good things, my family, my animals and my job.
19h42 here, in bed with my white cat curled up on top of me. I want to read a few pages of my Clive Cussler that I'm busy with...the book is just out of reach and I'm about to upset the cat when I get up for said book. Damn cats, they have it real good here.
Anyways, will be nice to hear how all ya guys are managing.
How's the weather in your neck of the woods Damien? Your 250 days of rain letting off yet?
The weather is improving. The rain is finally slowing down. It’s been about 8 months of rain.I still have about another 2-2.5 months left before salmon start arriving. One thing to at least look forward to. I can’t complain much. Just glad to be back to work
We've had a lot of rain this spring, and also the 17 year cicada emergence . They are really humming and shit tons of their shed "skin" mostly around the trees . The dog loves eating them lol .
Reach out my Brother, I'll PM you my number. The struggle is real for a lot of us but toxic masculinity is rampant around here so people don't ask. Chance has been an amazing friend over the last 4 years. That dude is solid and reaches out to anyone he feels might be struggling and tries his best to be there in spite of his own troubles asking for nothing in return. True friend that guy is, as he knows the one's hurt the most are often the most sincere.
I struggle on a daily basis with crippling anxiety and the only thing that helps is getting out to the track and spinning some laps. I can't really drink anymore health wise but sometimes the shit end of the stick gets me and I do, which only further spirals the problem and my mind is ready to just say fuck it, I'm done.
But everyday I wake up and read this board and know any one of you would be there if need be as I would any of you.
Got on some depression, anxiety pills yesterday. Hmm, I guess I`m doing splendid...
Pit Row
Little off, threw out my upper back the other morning rolling over in bed and have been in a slump. Roommates are in the middle of a very rare beef and the tone around the house is weird, and it's overcast. I put an album on the headphones and went for a walk in the rain though and it sorted me out. I might re-caffeinate and cruise around town to see if I can't find a cool fathers day gift for the old man.
Thanks man,
Not petting fish like FLmxer yet, but thing are not all bad
I had one knee done and ready for other one in the fall.
That has helped some.
Plus I have lost weight.......3 pounds....LOL
A lot of the other stuff remains.....
Personal life is what it is, and will be until I change it.
Stopped looking up old friends on fb.... that way I don't find out bad news
Hope all the rest on here that were in valleys have climbed back into the sun...
Boomslang..... hope things don't get crazy down your way with the ANC losing out......
Peace out my moto brothers....
Well.
Karen hasn't improved much from her stroke. We still can't have a conversation. At all. She doesn't understand English but for some basic words. She at least understands sport still. She knows what's going on around her, she just can't talk about it, or understand what you are saying.
All this and I have a 90 year old Mom degenerating.
I ain't built for this shit. I'm doing the best that I can, but it's probably not to good.
Touching base all you savages, Ladies and Gentleman.
My side I'm good. Bitching about things I cannot change does not help...I keep looking ahead at the positive. We shut down for Christmas next Tuesday and start again on the 14th Jan 25....so that's more than enough time to kick back and rejuvenate. I'm looking forward to the quality family time over the festive season....and all the good grub. ( cold beer...it's summer here and really hot)
Moving on....
...sadly, we have a few members here that have been hit hard by challenges and the loss of loved ones. Special thoughts, strength and prayers to you all. I'm here if any one of you guys need a chat.
I wish you all good health and a lovely safe December.
......damn, I'm looking forward to some slow days this December but I'm also wishing it was A1...
Work Christmas party in 90 min.

Please lift up my father in law in your thoughts and prayers. He has been in Jewish hospital since Thanksgiving day and has been in ICU on life support for 7 days now. We know miracles can happen and we are praying for one!
