At this point I’ll just keep my 24 450kx. No reason to switch if this bike is way slow. Also weighs 8lb more than ktm.
Did you mean to post the 2021 dyno?
Here is the 2023 vs 2025 KX250.
Weird setting of the bar, most likely, or someone already slid the forks to flush instead of 5mm stock height. Same exact Renthal 839 FatBars as the Honda, only difference could be grips or personal settings, in my opinion.
For the YZ, the article does not say what map they used. The bike is delivered with a free tuning app and easily swappable maps that definitely feel like they make more power than the base map.

It's night a day difference with the screens out of my 450.
I would take drill bits to the exhaust before I started tripping.
Correct....and It is the same for any bikes.
It will loose 6 lbs with a different muffler and add 3-4hp also 😉
Ummm,no. I guess you missed my post where the YZ has been 39HP on that dyno for the last 5 years.
These tuner apps have minimal effect on WFO dyno runs. I will cut you slack because you are obviously not a dyno guy.
With which map?
The tuner apps mostly affect partial throttle feel. You can reduce power on top in some cases though. Having said that MXA reported the Triumph gains 1.5hp by running the Akrapovic map from their tuner with the stock exhaust. MXA also crucified the Triumph for poor tuning from the factory in their 2024 bike review and the 2025 shootout.
Does anyone know if the 25 250 has screens in the exhaust? Can't see one from the back, not sure if there would be one in the middle or towards the front.
I haven’t looked at a 250 exhaust, but if it is anything like my ‘24 450, just plan on buying a slip-on. The 450 muffler has a screen and baffles. I just bought a PC muffler and my bike rips now. My buddy took his muffler apart and took out the screens and baffles and now it sounds like crap. You would be able to see the screen without taking the end cap off the muffler.
I think someone said earlier in the thread about there being 2 screens in the 250 exhaust. I can't remember if I could see the screens through the end cap on my 450.
Keefer said the same about sound. Mine sounds good. Like any other stock 450, because with the screen removed it's no different than any other stock 450 exhaust.
The Dirtrider dyno numbers are down a lot for all the bikes compared to MXA. Re the KX, a European review said ‘25 HP was higher than the ‘24 until Kawi put a restricted exhaust on to meet the new sound requirements which brought the HP number down to ‘24 levels. No doubt the ‘25 will see significant gains with just a few mods.
An entirely new head design that is ultra modern only to have it handicapped by a cork in the exhaust. Strange days indeed…
Did you cut the baffles out? If not, maybe that’s why yours still sounds good.
Yes it has screens. Believe 2 of them in the muffler.
Pit Row
Do you plan to remove them ?
Noise/sound emissions. A few of the European media sites have already addressed this. Kawasaki is getting ahead of the curve for newer, stricter standards. They have to do what they have to do. At least it's a simple, albeit an expensive mod that will allow better performance. Most people swap that ou anyway.
I ended up taking the muffler off and dropping a small ball through the muffler. It went right through so I believe it’s only the 450 that has them.
I was about to this weekend but I changed my mind.. I did that on my kx450 and it sounded like shit afterwards. But I would like to try it..
Mine got screens.. maybe different between US and EU bikes.
New PC team bike have a airbox cover cutout similar to the ‘21-‘24 bikes.
Watching all the videos they say the aggressive map is light on yet in my manual it says standard map is aggressive and light on is normal mode. Can anyone clarify this?
Has anyone experimented with modifying the airbox yet? I’m considering removing the piece of plastic that somewhat surrounds the air filter and maybe drill some holes in the air box cover to mimic what pc is doing. Also was looking at different air filter options. Currently using twin air filters for the 2024 kx450 but I think theres better options out there
Good spot - based on the rivets i’d say that’s exactly what it is - 21-24 cutout off an old panel, rivetted on and covered with graphic. Probably a temp solution until they get something different made up.
Just checked. The baffles are in there, I just bent them out of the way.
I cut some of it away to get some more space. I use DT1 filters they got larger contact surface than stock and twin air powerflow filters and are also larger overall.
