Hey yall. I just picked up my brand new TF250X yesterday. I was looking to get some quality Torx wrenches for it but I cannot find what sizes I need anywhere. Not listed in the manual whatsoever. Any of you guys know which sizes the bolts are? I know Michael Lindsey said there's only 2 sizes.

I also didnt receive a stand either. Only things I got with the bike were that little triangle stand and the unvented airbox cover. and a dinky keychain lol

Listen to the Keefer podcast with Anchor Tape Corie, lots of great tips in there including a referral to what Torx to get. T30 is the most used and T47 is sprocket bolts, I swear I thought T45 is used somewhere too but I forget. Honestly buying a set of T handles and/or sockets isn’t really much more than buying a few individually so just buy a set

Huge shout dude. Thanks, He said you need a T30, T40, T45 and a T47 for the rear brake.

Thanks. Lots of good info in there.

I use a t30 Koken t handle.  I’ll drop the link for that here. I just can’t get a good spin on the icon or snap-on. Found these and also use the t40 from them as well. https://kokenusa.com/products/t-type-wrench-for-torx-screws-t30?srsltid=AfmBOoqYUR7sEvsJH70B-TgGu1E_K5SYIsBNL74UzO0LsxJjgyDYrKhK

The sprockets Bolts are t45, the rear brake pedal bolt is a t47

FYI for my fellow Triumph owners. Take the time to double check your chain and the direction of the master link clip.

Mine fell off midair at Cahuilla today. Broke the stator cover. Luckily I was just doing my site laps on the vet track so didn't crash.

Bike has 5 hours on it. Stock chain. Lubed up and set at the spec listed in the manual.

Dang brother, that could have been bad. The cover can be replaced and toss a new chain on there but just glad you’re all good and didn’t crash.

100%. Definitely made me pucker when I heard/felt the engine die. Maybe we can attribute it to the grip I had on my bike thanks to my Anchor Tape 😂.

Luckily looks like the cover is only about 115 bucks as well so much better than the engine case.

Looks like I need to get a chain… just went over 10 hours.. got my suspension out for a revalve. I’ll check my master link regardless.

My bike is stamped as assembled in Thailand so last time I checked that wasn't India. Sure its not Hinkley but Triumph does have their own manufacturing in Thailand, not outsourced to Bajaj. Everyone seems to have a weird thing about Bajaj in the motocross world but as far as I'm aware its only ever been proven that the manufacturers that work with them outsource small entry level street bike production there...

Anyone that hasn’t watched the MXA review of the 450, they state that there’s some free dealer service bulletins coming soon for the 250s to update mapping and replace/upgrade the clutch to address some initial feedback/issues with the first model year bikes. I’m not certain how accurate that is but I’m going to reach out to my dealer in the next day or two to talk to them and see if they’ve heard anything about it and if it’s true see when I can get my bike to them for it

This is accurate, straight from Triumph to us at the 450 intro. They just finished the new maps within the last few weeks and will be working on getting these updates including some hard parts done for all current TF250x owners

That’s awesome to hear. Not many of the current manufacturers would do something like that so makes me glad to have one…usually it’s just “we made these improvements for the new model year so come buy one”

Curious to see how easy the upgrade process will be. Closest dealership to me is a little over a hour away and it’s not the dealership I purchased from.

I think I will find out soon. A local Triumph dealership is arranging a demo day for my son and a few of his fast friends. They are looking for feedback on the platform from local riders. One of our questions will be just this - will the updates be applicable and available for a 24 if we buy one? We've tried the 25 YZ250f (loved it) but want to try the Triumph before we choose a new ride. Also looking at the 24 MC250F-FE as it's being discounted heavily and has an amazing spec. The 24 Triumph is being discounted deeply too. Both the Triumph and Gas Gas will be cheaper OTD than the YZF, by a good bit.

Crazy! Regardless the bike looks good and needs little to nothing.I see no reason for a person interested in it not to buy. The biggest issue for me would be the shifting but many times it breaks in.

Yup!

The latest MY25 refinements/Map update is all available FOC from your local dealer, just drop them a line.

The mapping update is a significant improvement - clears up the cold start off-throttle bog on the few bikes that had that issue and puts more fuel in across the RPM range.

I'm really interested in the clutch update. Our KTM clutches have been absolutely bulletproof, and I've read about some plate issues with the early Triumphs. As head mechanic for my "team", I want to know what was wrong, and what the fix is. Wink

Yamaha shift lever helps the shifting a lot!

Has anyone heard about the process and time frame for the updates? Specifically the clutch is the item I’m most worried about, as well as hoping the start/kill switch is part of the updates. Reached out to my dealer the other day and they hadn’t heard anything about it, reached out to Triumph customer service and haven’t heard back yet.

I did hear that the start and kill switch may not have been updated i could be wrong though.. However Corie @ Anchor is working on some that will resolve the issue.

To be fair, looks like they tested a 24. They have it listed at 9995.00 but the new 25 has been reduced to 9495.
They also added a disclaimer to the triumph stating they have new ecu maps and clutch parts for free at triumph dealers but this came out after their test. The new 25 comes with this updated map and clutch…for 500 bucks less.

I can say the gearbox smooths out after a couple oil changes. I’ve got about 11 hours on a 24. Akrapovic map, 110 tire and one tooth more on rear sprocket. Great bike.

Corie at Anchor assembled a start/kill switch for me and it is very clean and well presented. Spoke to my dealer on Wednesday regarding updates. There is a Service Bulletin due any time now. Clutch, ECU, perhaps a new S/K Switch. Other items unknown. I also put a Yamaha Shift lever on mine and it cleaned up the shifting. My take on the stock lever is that it might be to flexible.....the stock lever also hit the chain if you raised it one notch from the location it shipped at......

agreed, I got lucky and scooped a YZ PC shift lever for $35 and it really improved the feel.

I’ve been talking with him about the starter switch, just slightly impatient because my switch died and the stock switches are on back order and I’m missing riding my bike😂

Fair enough.. Luckily I haven't ran into any issues but I've taped it when washing since new, bike has 31 hours on it now. I do still plan to replace the switch once I can get my hands on ones from Corie.
