if it hasn't been said, if i were team lawrence, i wouldnt want deegs there either. dude is gonna go wrecking ball* in an offseason race just to prove something and the golden bros (mirtl) don't wanna risk injury racing a sociopath for limited upside.
*as a fan, more power to deegs for racing the way he does, but looking at it from the lawrence's camp POV, it would make sense. that said i don't like Mirtl at all, and i'm not defending them either, if this is accurate.

They race different classes. Deegan can be aggressive. But in all honesty he isn’t stupid enough to take unnecessary risks in a meaningless race against nobodies. If he were in 450 class against Jett, hunter and Webb. He probably would try proving a point.
But in that 250 class he could lap second place easily without breaking a sweat. The standard of riding in Australia is ridiculously low compared to Europe and America.

Growing the sport is not agree to pay a specific amount to ANY rider,then having another rider or riders complain and say we don’t want them here and then getting a call from the promoter saying sorry we don’t have the funds. The promoter knows exactly what he has to spend and should know his budget at all times. So instead of saying to the media that the brothers don’t want those two there they make it about money because they know those riders will not travel or race for free if everyone else is getting paid. Regardless of who you like or dislike,this is NOT good for the sport and sure as hell will not grow it.

It seems telling that when Dark reached out to the Lawrence camp, Deegan and Anderson that he heard back from Deegan confirming it and Anderson but nothing from the Lawrence’s. If I were in the Lawrence camp and this isn’t true I’m responding to claim my innocence.
I’m also wondering if Adam Bailey gets back to ML.

I spoke to Adam Bailey and Eric Peronnard, they claim there was never an agreement in place for Deegan to race the event. Eric’s exact response was “I never had Deegan on the roster”
I’m not going to read through the whole thread, but Anderson admitted already he was never planning on going (Kawasaki won’t allow it) but he commented for fun / stroke the flames.
A lot of finger pointing or confusion. I was in traffic for nine hours yesterday to go to a one hour meeting. So my day was fairly shot in terms of research. Got a few calls in but not far enough along yet.

I think the pertinent question would be was there an agreement in place between the Lawrence camp and the promoter to limit the participation of Deegan, Anderson and Roczen?
I personally don't think any of them planned to race it, but once they heard their names were mentioned in the agreement they took the opportunity to jab the Lawrences publicly.
I also agree it's a bit of an off-season nothing burger (apologies to bvm111). I'm sure these type of arrangements have always been around the promoters have just been smart enough not to allow it to go public.
He said he reached out to Mitrle, not Jett or Hunter. Agents and PR guys are paid to deal with this stuff so you’d think they’d be on top of it

In addition, if there was any effort (financial or any other) to discourage any other specific riders from coming, this was clearly planned to be the Lawrence Brothers show, the last thing they want is another superstar rider with arguably the same amount (or more) of popularity taking any of that spotlight. And you can't really blame them if that is the case, the Lawrence brothers are a stand-out enigma, something we have not really seen before, coming to their home country to race in the same class in a one-off race for the home fans, on the same stage, that IS the show. I am obviously speculating, but there is some logic there that nobody has really mentioned in this entertaining thread.
I heard they put it in the contract that nobody was allowed to race with them and they are guaranteed 1st and 2nd place.
I mean it's meant to be a "Homecoming Spectacle" anyway so what's the big deal if they fix the results, right?

I can tell you didnt listen to the pod and are repeating something you heard because this is not accurate at all. I listened to the pod. Dark said he talked to anderson and anderson said quote “when I got back from practice I noticed my phone was blowing up and didnt know what it was about, so I posted something to stir the pot, but I’m not sure what theyre talking about. I wasnt going to race australia anyways”. Thats the direct quote.
