Just goes to show how out of touch he is with who actually buys the bikes that fund his paychecks.
That was quite an extraordinary story. Herlings was winning the championship easily, until he had that crash on the 85cc during Everts and Friends. By that time, Tixier already had signed with Kawasaki. KTM didn't extend his contract. They never expected Herlings to not win the championship that year. Tixier stepped it up big time once Herlings broke his femur, maybe new motivation or he knew it was now or never.
I think as a team member it was a weird time. On one hand you're heartbroken for the guy that literally rode with a broken femur to win the championship and miss it by a few points. On the other hand you have Tixier, who didn't live up to his potential until that moment to win a world championship and had his fair amount of stress/pressure that year (his brother had a big accident). That was a weird end of the season for sure.
Or goes to show he knows what’s in his job description and doesn’t give in to outside distractions 🤷♂️
What's his job title?

Could be.
I woulda assumed that his Job Description woulda involved helping the riders on the Team get the best results possible by providing them the necessary resources and support.
Apparently his job description was to be a dick and run off one of the most well known and marquee riders that KTM has had in a super awkward and public manner 🤷♂️
To steal another sports term the Russell situation is way to ‘inside baseball’ for most people to notice, or give a shit.
Gas Gas Europe didn’t buy t-shirts….. translates into DeCoster sucks??
I thought it was more about the culture at KTM and some of the crap Decoster has done was being used as examples.
But if I were a Decoster worshipper and was looking to deflect from him being a dick, I'd probably have a response similar to yours.
I agree with his point, though. Decoster absolutely did Russell wrong, and it was ridiculous for him to say on live TV that retired Dungey and Cairoli really need to pick it up and get better results. But what does that have to do with a private GasGas team in Europe and how they handle their championship celebration, that was actually handled really well? This thread is weird. lol
No clue, probably something like US director of MX/SX team, responsible for the success of the program, not tied to the off road program.
You're not wrong, if Decoster was tied to the off road side they would only hire dudes who were already champions and then brag about making them champions. The off road team actually develops young riders into future champions, something Decoster hasn't been able to do that much.
Since when did UpTite take over your account.....
He's not wrong.
You know... when he came to the US for the first SX races in 2024... the KTM group could have signed him to a US KTM group team due to his desire to be in the US and the results. From what I see - guessing here... KTM wanted him back in Europe as they have a US based team. However he wanted to come to the USA clearly.
So a game of "chicken" was played. KTM said we'll send you to the US for a few races (meaning we're helping make your desires come true) but after that we want you in the Europe to defend your 450 title. However, while in the US.... after the 2-3 rounds... Kawi approached him. I suspect he more then likly let KTM know he had been approached... wanted a full time 2025 USA based deal. And KTM decided to play "chicken". They thought - he won't get a serious offer in the US for a full time factory gig after these few rounds.
Opps..... KTM was WRONG. Now KTM is upset. Shoulda woulda coulda.....
Looking at what their stock has done today, where Prado rides next year is the least of their worries at the moment.
Looks like its about time to buy a whole bunch of stock.
Director of Motorsports, North America
That stock chart looks like a severed artery if you zoom out. Traded at a high of 87.0 Euros back in December 2021. Down 90.23% since then.

That chart resembles my ambition to qualify for a National when I was younger.
