They should make easier battery replacement for next model. Bike with 2 batteries would be potential option for any MX racer also.
Another day at the MX track today, and 1 Varg. It was a total beginner who did as much cruising around the pits as he did plodding around the track.
I knew these things would not take over MX anytime soon like some on here thought, but I figured I'd see more at the track this year than I did.
And there were zero generators running in my area of the pits. Perfect 60* day and no need to run them; unless you were the 1 guy with a Varg.
When I see a rider do it them selves isde style I’ll be impressed
How many casual riders would have a trained 3 man pit crew to do the battrry swap fast

I’ve been seeing on average, 3. Keep in mind I mostly ride on Fridays at Fox/Pala. No telling how many are showing up on the weekend. There is so much bike noise at all times that a generator would be barely heard in the common area of the pits. A motocross track is not a place to go for “quiet time”…
He's clearly upset from cleaning all his dirty filters the night before.
How long do you think it will be before we see no noise E-only tracks like the Etards said would happen and save the sport? Will you be permitted to run a generator or will it have to pass a sound test?
Just watched that battery change, it's so damn f...ing ridiculous.
Dare I underline refilling a gas take is a wee bit faster and less expensive?
I heard the commentator on TV said they swapped the battery after one lap, didn`t take the chance to do 2 laps before the swap. One lap is almost 15 miles/30-40 minutes of riding. I even saw less professional teams using the charger😅
I don't know what is more funny
The $3000 spare battery change
Or
Putting fuel in a generator, to charge an ebike, when you could save lots of time & thousands of dollars, and just put that same fuel straight in an ICE bike.
The whole generator idea must be the worst option - you have a generator revving away for hours , so no reduction in noise or emissions
I think we'll see a fast-discharge capacitor someday. Instead of a generator, you just hook up to your big battery in the truckbed between motos to top off the charge. (I don't know how feasible this is with today's technology, but like anything, it will get better.)
I like the Varg. I want to ride one and see what the power delivery is like. That's far more important to me what the origin of the power is.
I gotta say, your confidence in being the smartest guy in the room while also not being afraid to put your stupidity on display publicly is very entertaining. Thank you for being here.

There are a lot of serious racers with extra race motors that cost more than 3K. Plus You wouldn't need to buy a pipe, aftermarket clutch , trans oil, race gas, air filters , etc. So cost wise they are much closer than they were in the past.
If You are not the type of racer that has extra engines, or multiple bikes. Than a Varg and Generator would most likely work out fine for you.
Its the type of power the Varg or an electric produces. The style of power. The adjustability of that power that I love about them. Less noise is also a benefit for many people with private tracks in areas that are getting more built up. And in that case they could charge in their garage .
As far as gassing up a bike to skip the process of gassing a generator to charge the bike. Most people are riding dirtbikes because they are fun. Its not normally about being the most efficient tool for the job, Its about the most fun way of doing it. You may spend a little more time waiting for a recharge. But You will not be spending time cleaning filters, changing oil ( 50 hours between gear oil) , changing clutches, vales, pistons ,topends etc. And if You setup Your transport vehicle the right way, going to get gas at all will be another thing You won't have to do.
I have customers that will drive and hour and a half each week to buy Race gas. They end up buying other stuff too. There is also a lot that You don't have to do with an electric too. And at some point, the range will get to the point that it is no longer an issue.
There is a power tool company Kress , that has pro quality landscape equipment that has a quick charge system that charges their batteries in 8 minutes. So They mow , trim, blow then put the battery on the charger while they drive to the next site. And charge the charging pack overnight. or they have bigger batteries that can work like a gascan , to transfer power from it to a battery. It is on the expensive side right now.
They have a 3000 cycle warranty on the batteries even charging them that fast.
Cat power tools is the company that is behind the Kress brand. They have a Graphene pouch cell style pack that is also a very quick charge style battery . Its not as fast as the Kress stuff. But they claim 4 times faster than lithium, 2 times the power and lasts 3 times longer.
At this point, for the regular price of a Varg, You can get a Varg and an extra battery. It would be cool if they made a quick change system and sold the bikes with 2 batteries for $12k or so.
As excited as I am for the current electric powered MX bikes. I am more excited for what the future may bring. as batteries and motors get smaller, the freedom of chassis design and ability to control the power to such a fine degree.
I haven't had to charge my Stark one time in 6 months.
