Gasjer timed his pass perfectly. Late enough that Jett had no time to regather. Any earlier and Jett would probably have got him back.
Fun game. So if Gajser passed him earlier, then Jett got back around, wouldn't they be in the exact same position as when Gajser made his perfectly timed pass? And then Gajser 'probably would have' made the same pass.

Tim was the man of the day, for sure. Arguably the fastest in the world ? He was leading the world championship by more than 30 points after Italy and still lost it. One very good performance (Tim's best ride of the year and one of the best if not the best of his career) doesn't make you the best in the world.
He is on this list of rider that is consider ONE of the best in the world, with Prado, Herlings, Tomac, Sexton and eventually Febvre and Hunter I would say. But you cannot consider him the best of the bests when you see that the rest of his season (outside of the swiss GP) was far from his MXON performance.
Especially a race like the MXdN. Team tactics are employed to win the event. Things like giving up your gate pick. Meanwhile some guys, like Tim, have only thing on their mind. Winning their moto, as their team has no shot at winning. That said, Jett definitely wanted to win that moto. He wasn't holding back like I've seen some said. But the individual winner of the MX1/MX3 race being the FMOTP? The ultimate example is Coldenhoff in '18. Was he the FMOTP after that?
They already turned me into a Deegan fan, if they keep it up I'll be a Gasjer fan.

On the Title 24 podcast Ricky mentioned that Jett injured his hand leading up to the race. Not sure to what extent and I don’t think it takes anything away from Tim straight up passing him, but I hadn’t seen that mentioned online and listened to the pod yesterday so..
Jett was never 10th. You can see the lap charts on mxgp.com. he was 6th at the end of lap 1...same as his position going past pit straight.
Correct. It's one race. On that day Tim was the fastest man on the planet, as was Coldenhoff in 18 and 19.
Jett was 11th going into the first corner...
and 18th going into the second corner...

I don’t know when going from 5th to first become more impressive than going from 18th to first just to lose it in the second to last corner and end up second.
Jett put in an impressive ride, passing most of the fastest riders in the world, but he needs to protect those inside lines the last couple of corners!
With the gap he had to Tim at the top part of the track in the Everts/Bubba corner i think that Jett was sure that Tim had let this one go.
But Jett was wrong there and this is why he should start to open up a 5-6 second gap instead of a 2-2.5 second when he is in the lead.
He learns from his mistakes!
You said at end of first lap, not in second corner. Big difference.

Yep agree about the bigger gap.
He's been asked about it (maintaining a small gap) and he says it keeps him focused. Don't know whether to take that with a grain of salt or not.

Just did. When Jett was 10th Gajser was 6th. Wow. Huuuuge advantage for Tim.
I rewatched the last 2 laps of this race and I’m shocked that nobody else noticed that Tim stalked Jett masterfully and toyed with him mentally. Those last 2 laps were controlled by Tim and Jett started flailing. Tim was able to back off quite a bit and then pull right back up on the rear wheel—Tim did this over and over again and Jett began to lose his nerve. Tim had that race won earlier than when he booted Jett outta the way.
Also, anyone else notice that RC and RV were acting like salty Jett homers on Title 24 and didn’t give TG nearly enough credit for embarrassing their boy?

what is wild is we can count the amount of riders to pass Jett on 1 hand. Not bad for a rider in his 2nd year of the 450 class.
