Journalist here- you must used "alleged" until the person is convicted. It's an indictment which is just basically an accusation.
Also a journalist here (by education at least) and I was commenting more on the complete overuse of the word, i.e. the partial sentence I quoted. No need to say the indictment alleges Combs allegedly[...], because it's already established it's an allegation in the indictment. Unless the writer is paid by the word, the sentence would be considerably less redundant if they had said "In addition to physical violence, the indictment alleges Combs maintained control over the victims..."

Imo...the power/influence comes from telling/saying things that weak minded people want to hear. Give them someone to hate for their lot in life.
