Deegan bike power

I know Star knows how to make lots of HP but does it appear to anyone else that Deegan's bike doesn't have the straightline power of other bikes?  It seems that he gets pulled on straights, but then makes it up in corner speed and jumping.  Perhaps they've set his bike to be more usable?  Could this be part of his issue in the starts recently?

I thought the same and have noticed it yesterday and through some of the outdoor races this year. I don’t know about the theory of taming the power intentionally tho. He seems like he would want every ounce he could get.

Could be that he’s managing wheel spin. He’s very aggressive with the throttle and I doubt they would give up even a small amount of peak power. Could also be that he has his bike setup to run up on top longer and stronger, giving up a little down low. Just guessing

I’m no fan off all Deeg’s shit talking but his HP advantage is via twisting the throttle.

Maybe they demodded a little after all those sound checks where his bike magically blew up when it was his turn to test

Coming from 10th thru the pack both motos to win, I don't think it's a bike power issue....  he's just had bad starts.

He's one of the smaller dudes in the class how does that work mathematically?

The Star bikes don't have the peak power advantage they once had. They do seem to get out of the corners well.

DNGR is the best starter in the class by far and that surely helped him win his championship.

No comment if they where re-tuned to meet sound.

He's one of the lightest riders in the class, riding a bike from one of the best funded teams in the class, if he's not pulling holeshots, he should be in the top 3 to the first turn.

True. Has crossed my mind a few times, he is much smaller than many others and that Yamaha (at least used to) be among the strongest so well, I guess that works out in a positive way.

Waiting for him to move up to 450s. Chase, Deegan and Jett will be a fantastic racing trio. Now, with tht said, will his 250 speed translate or does he have a clear weight/power advantage today?

It's amazing when guys have 5-6-7-8secs on him, they know Danger is coming but they cannot do anything about it, they just let him sail by, he is just amazing in the 250 class for now! Smile

His biggest strength is his intensity, something that most riders find difficult to maintain.

Could be... different riders have different preferences when it comes to ECU settings and HP output. I know Herlings has a slightly downtuned engine because he likes it that way. Prado for instance want's max power all the time and has that ECU mode

Absolutely. My comment was not taking anything away from Deegan, he is hands-down the best 250 rider atm. No one comes close!!!

...but with that said, sometimes weight/power does make a difference... maybe it doesn't in the 250 class, I have no clue, pure guessing.

Don’t they have a special map for sound check??

Those 10th place starts aren't going to work on 450s. Maybe he will be a better starter on a 450 vs 250 like Jett.

Haiden was running the same lap times as Jett during the motos!

Ferrandis also used to run the same laptimes as the 450s

And Stewart, and who ever were the top 250 rider at the moment.

The top 250 rider is often faster than the top 450 rider at SX for the obvious reasons that the 450’s has out grown the small tracks and a 250f is the current optimal bike/engine size for it.

And Herlings used to be faster than the 450’s in the GP’s even on sand tracks with his 250, so this is nothing new.

For us nationals the 450 riders are still faster but with the 250’s passing 50whp it’s not strange that they run competitive lap times.

Blood doping/PEDs. Late in the race everyone is exhausted. (Except Deeg)
