You know, like Pourcel was the best rider last year and should have won the championship.
Mike rode best?

A few facts to consider or not.

Moto 1 Chad and Mike were together in turn 1, Mike was 3rd after lap1.

Chad gapped Mike by 10 sec. in 8 laps. Chad won, Mike dropped a spot to 4th.

Moto 2 Mike rips another great start, Chad not so much. Chad is 10th after lap 1.

Mike wins the moto, Chad passes 7 riders to get 3rd in the moto and the overall.

Mike got better starts, but Chad earns the overall with what I see, despite the weak moto 2 start, as the stronger ride.

He may not of won but he still had a great day. Beyond winning races, Mike's job is to promote KTM and their new 350. IN THAT RESPECT, he has the points lead with Chad. He got out a victory lap, got the bike on the podium/TV and has generated more discussion than the winners of the respective classes. Love him or hate him you have to say he's getting the job done. On and off the track.

Stats people.

Mike is 2nd in points.
No points for victory laps, or for the number of times his name is typed.

And according to the race times there were 3 people faster than him on the day. And 9 people faster than his second moto time including 2 - 250 second moto times.

Chad Reed being the fastest on the day.

That's a flawed comparison though. The total time is going to depend when the 2 card comes out.

Disagree. While he can get excited as he wants (victory lap was overkill as well) about winning a moto, the only bike that goes on the podium is the winners. There has never been any gray area. I bet Everts , while happy with the moto win, was cringing at the sight. Coupled with his press conference he has managed to give more of the field serious bulletin board material.

Yep, look at Cairolli when he won the 2nd round of GPs. You didn't see him behaving so conceitedly. And he had actually won the overall.
Come on man, so your telling me if you just made history on a new bike you wouldnt be super pumped? Ya he got a little carried away but so would anyone else. He's been training his ass of for over a year, and hes stoked on his results. I wouldnt compare cairolli and alessi, they are two different breeds not to mention cairolli doesnt have a tony alessi foot up his ass and is pressured every time he races.

everts is/was not pleased with mikes attitude after the 2nd moto win that is for sure.

but emotion and the pressure relief valve was off the hook for mike so who can blame for being super pumped i say.

FlaNard - Go back and re-read the monday conversation once again and you will see that you are wrong only posting something to satrt a fire that was misquoted to fuel the fire.....get your facts straight next time.

Yeah, you know he comes up there all cocky and shit and thinking he won. I don’t know, I think obviously a moto win is awesome, but the goal is to win the overall, and he fell short of that, and I don’t think he was aware of it. So I just said, get that thing off, let’s get the real winner’s bike up here. It’s all-good. I think the whole 350/450 thing is going to be the new two-stroke/four-stroke thing. I think a lot of people are going to love the 350 and a lot of people, not to say hate on it, but for me, I mean, it’s a 450 class. That’s why it’s the premier class. Ride a real bike, you know? I mean, it’s a great bike and it’s a great idea, but it’s a different idea. A hundred cc’s is nothing. Look at Moto GP: They took away 200cc and immediately they were breaking lap records throughout the whole year.

Excuse me "The WINNER's bike." All I left out was "winner". But I did read the conversation, and he took a few obvious digs at the 350. I dont need to quote them. They are on the site for anyone to read.

was it just the bike being on the podium or his attitude after the race in general?

I can see why the kid is on a high right now. he's probably answered a few questions about himself and was relieved to know he can still go out and win.

I personally think it's great to see a kid get so excited about winning. For 10 years we had like 3 different winners and the sport was pretty boring at times. We were occasionally treated to a hand raise after the checkered. In other motor sports guys go crazy after wins and it really shows the fans how much it means to them and their team . In car racing they do victory laps, burn outs, donuts and even climb the fences and I love it. It takes so much dedication in mx to even win one moto and I don't blame anyone that over celebrates. Like i said in a different thread I'd probably still be doing victory laps at hangtown today if i won on Saturday, Hey at least he wasn't doing the sprinkler or the worm in the middle of the track like JS. Although I never thought bad about JS for doing that stuff I did at times think it was silly. But heck if James had 1/2 the love for the sport he did back in those days you may not have to deal with Mikey doing victory laps because James would still be winning,

Bottom line is all the haters need to stfu and give the kid his due props for putting in the work and getting the job done in moto 2.
ditto dan!!!

Mike was excited about the moto win. If he wants to do 10 victory laps so be it. Who fucking cares.

As far as his press conference and giving the other riders bulletin board material do you really think Mike Alessi cares. There are only 1 or 2 people that can beat Alessi right now. In a few weeks that number is going to go down to one. (Reed) And it won't happen very often.

No matter what Mike said to the media before the race, he had to be nervous about the 350. “I should have won the series last year, did I give up the chance of being champ by giving up 100cc to the field? What if I can’t pull a holeshot on this bike? What I get spanked by a handful of 450 riders that aren’t as good as I am outdoors?”

Then he gets chased down and passed at the end of the first Moto. “Shit, this is the nightmare!”

Then he holeshots Moto 2 and runs away from the pack. The weight of his world just got lifted from his shoulders, he has to be pumped. “I can pull a holeshot and I can win on a 350. I can win this series and become a Champion!” I think the excitement was a sign of relief.
