The Privateer Support Program

Edited Date/Time 9/11/2024 9:12am

Hello VitalMX readers,

NEWBIE here!  So please go gently on me!  I have read VitalMx since its inception and even Motonews before that- But I have never felt the need to be posting anything- until now

This is John Ayers Jr.  The owner of the small company Gear Services, the Moto Based company that has set up everything at the outdoor national pro motocross series for the last 15 years.  From tents to the track arches and other structures around the track, signage, banners, you name it- if it’s at all the nationals, chances are we haul it and set it up!

I have grown up riding and racing and have ridden and raced about everything you can on a dirt bike. I have been working at the nationals in one way or another for the last 25 years since when I was a little kid and I have been at dirt bikes races since I was a baby.  You could say that I grew up moto.

Although many insiders of the industry know me and/or my family or we have worked together, I wanted to introduce myself as I get started on this new project and the reason for my post.

The Privateer Support Program

As we all have heard Ted Parks, the Man that helped countless privateers over the years get to all the events is retiring this year.  I have heard riders and industry concerns over what will happen for the Privateer riders moving forward and who could step up and help these guys out.

I have decided to step up to fill this void and to help these guys get to the races.

Considering my love and dedication to the sport my entire life at many different levels, a project like this has always been a dream of mine.  Riders like Ben Lamay and Tristan Lane and even David Pingree have reached out to me in the past seasons, and I have been able to find space in a truck going to the nationals to just help the guys out in a pinch.  I really enjoyed getting to help out the guys committed to racing these events and finding a way to make it happen.

For the 2025 season, we will be sending a professional looking Semi with a large awning to all SX and MX events that will be dedicated to transporting privateers' bikes and providing the riders the support they need to focus on their performance and careers, while doing everything we can to keep their expenses as low as possible until they make it to the next level.

Along with getting their bikes to the events, we will provide healthy food options for riders at the events, help arrange their personal travel to and from events/airport/hotels, help arrange race fuel on site, bike wash station at the nationals along with additional sponsorship products and perks.

So far, I have had some amazing feedback from the Riders and Industry Sponsors I have spoken with that are on board for the same reason as me- to the help the privateers.  At this point I have commitments for a parts allowance for each rider, hard parts and more and am actively working on gathering additional sponsorship to help these riders even more.

RIDERS- these spots will go fast.  If you are looking to attend all the SX and/or all the MX events or know a rider that will be looking to attend all the events in either series- Please reach out and apply for more information at the email below to reserve your spot.

Sponsors: If you or your company is interested in seeing how you can help the Privateers Support Program, please reach out at the email listed above.

Vital Readers- If you would like to come help these riders out at any events, please shoot an email to the email address above.

As more Sponsors come onboard, I will keep you guys up to date on who these sponsors are!

Do you have any plans to accept donations?

slowgti -  yes, that is in the works.  Once our website is live, we will have a donation link as well as privateer merch available with ALL proceeds going towards the riders' expenses.

That cool and all to help the riders at sx & nationals. But they probably hv there own sponsors from being in the LL program for 10 yrs.  Ever think about helping riders get to the pro ams ?  I think they woukd need more help since there in more states .  Add a 125 support at the pro ams they get a big turn out.  Your co would get more riders interested in you.  Trucks r cheap now Chicago has probably 500-700k trucks for sale.  No room anywhere for them in Chicago land a huge property was built in Indiana on i65 to park for sale trucks.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments.

Profeshenal125 - I had not considered any ProAm events.  As a 125 aficionado myself, I always love seeing anything that helps keep 125s prevalent.

If you hv political problems at the sx races. Ever give a thought of doing the arenacross series ?  2 day event  alot of amateurs & a decent # of pro,s racing. More people in the stands that r racers than sx. That would support your company.  There’s also a few arenacross series in the country besides the 2  big ones.  And Canada has a series.  Over seas The UK has a exciting series with sell out crowds.  I think it’s a good time to get a co involved b4 it explodes to the 90,s early 2000,s level. TPJ and all of the other past Privateer programs have always been welcome and had prime spot in the pits plus He is part of the MXSports group so he will have zero political problems.
