But, it’s nature’s truth…

Your poison is my medicine. You know?

I can sip good tequila ‘til the sun rises.

Yet, there are Whiskeys that will poison me ‘til the witch trials resume.

No favorites....I enjoy any number of them.      What I usually buy is Makers....it's good for sipping, it's also good for playing bartender with specialty cocktails.

I'll be honest, I can't stand Jack Daniels....it's the only one I won't drink.

I have a surplus of alcohol now. My daughter and our old housekeeper started an Airbnb cleaning and maintainance service and have quite a few high end accounts and people leave tons of unopened groceries and so much unopened alcohol.

If you can get it, grab a bottle of the Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

It's similar to the 10, but for me even better

Yea, I loved the bourbon theft ring episode on Heist.  I've never had Buffalo Trace but I want to try it after watching Heist.  I thank God that I never found Makers Mark until I was well out of high school and college.  I grew up sneaking Grandpa's stash until I got mid way through high school.  He really drank some rot gut shit but there was always a mix of good and bad.  What ever was priced right I think.  Old Crow, Ancient Age, Wild Turkey, Canadian Mist, Crown Royal, George Dickel, Evan Williams were always in the mix.  None were as bad as Jim Beam.  How did that shit become popular?

I don't drink much but I enjoy Makers Mark, Redneck Riviera, Crown Royal and Crown Royal peach and Jack Daniels now and again. My sister usually buys a bottle of Jack Daniels White Rabbit during the holidays.  I don't know where she finds it but she isn't afraid to open it.  Its pretty good.   The best Bourbon I've had, I don't know the name.  I was walking through the airport in Narita Japan and some hot chic was giving away shots of a couple of bottles.  I had like 5 shots and was on my way.  It was good shit but I passed.   She only wanted $200 USD a bottle for it.

My go to drink is a double shot of Jameson neat with a couple drops of water. I would like to start getting some bougie whiskey or bourbon but it's not something I've got around to yet. This guy is my spirit animal.

Hard to beat Elijah Craig small batch for the price and availability. Decent proof at 94 with a price tag of under $30. Plus my local CVS always has it in stock.

We don't get into town often.

When we do, we throw down at our favorite liquor store.

One of my favorites,

Rebel small batch.

One from each batch pictured.

120 proof.

Smooth as it gets.

A double shot rocks sets you right back in your lazy boy for the second round of motos.

A while back, I was thinking it had been years and years since I had a shot of Jack Daniels. I don't imbibe that much (sand in the engine and all) but figured if it was Frankie's (Sinatra) fav then that's good enough for me. I was absolutely SHOCKED when I saw the small sizes being sold in plastic bottles. Eyyuch!!

I always thought that they were a somewhat respectable brand but that is just unacceptable. And I don't care what anyone says, I guarantee something nasty is leaching out of the plastic. Seems just so wrong!

When did this ghastly trend start? Are they the only ones?

Pretty sure Hurricane malt liquor is just a Schlitz with a shot of the cheapest whiskey thrown in for more flavor and to up the abv.

So by that definition, my answer is Hurricane.

For bourbon, I like the reliability of the standard Maker’s Mark. Nothing fancy, but just a good sipping bourbon. I’ve had some really good Angel’s Envy the last couple of years and enjoy that as well, but don’t buy it as often.

For Whisky, again I go with something that’s always been reliable for me and that’s JW Blue Label. I only drink it about 5 or 6 times a year, though, usually with guests that I know appreciate scotch.

It's hard to find JW Blue in North Texas because Jerry Jones consumes it all lol
