Brea, CA – (July 15, 2024) – Suzuki Motor USA, LLC and Pipes Motorsports Group, LLC announce that Colt Nichols has joined the H.E.P. Motorsports Twisted Tea Suzuki team for the remainder of the 2024 Motocross season, leading into the 2024 SuperMotocross Playoffs and have a mutual extension option in place to race on the team for 2025.

As a former 250SX West Champion and the 2023 AMA 450SX Rookie of the Year, Nichols brings extensive talent and experience to the Twisted Tea Suzuki team. Everyone is eagerly anticipating Colt's debut with Suzuki at the upcoming AMA Motocross Unadilla National on August 10th, 2024.

“I’m very excited to be joining the H.E.P. Suzuki team.” said Nichols. “It’s pretty cool to get to sign in 2024, get some races under our belt this year, iron out a few things and hopefully come into 2025 swinging. I’m very happy to be a part of the team and am grateful for the opportunity to get to work with the staff and the bike to get this whole thing figured out.”

Colt will join teammates Shane McElrath and Kyle Chisholm to finish out the 2024 championship season.

“The team is thrilled to have an athlete of Colt's caliber join the team,” said Dustin Pipes, Team Principal of the Twisted Tea/H.E.P. Motorsports/Suzuki presented by Progressive Insurance team. “Being a former Lites Champion, Colt has the talent and pedigree to race his Suzuki RM-Z450 to great results. In the short time we have worked together, Colt has been very insightful and contributory on how to improve the motorcycle as we progress throughout this partnership. I look forward to seeing Colt on the starting line.”

“We are looking forward to Colt joining the H.E.P. Motorsports program and aligning his talents with our organized structure,” said Chris Wheeler, Motorsports Manager, at Suzuki Motor USA, LLC. “This is an exciting development, and the collaboration will undoubtedly help us maximize his potential and achieve great results on the track.”

Suzuki and Pipes Motorsports Group, LLC are eagerly anticipating an action-packed weekend of racing at round eight of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, the 2024 Washougal National in Washougal, WA.

Does Beta no longer have a 450 team? Is there any team?

They still have Benny Bloss who's sidelined with an injury. Rumors circulating SM11 may end up on Beta.

Matthes mentioned that it sounds like McElrath is going to Madd Parts Kawasaki.

hmmm.. sounds like he's got options then which is good. Crazy to think he and Chase were battling for the 250 SX title in 2020 when Shane was on Star and where they are today.

Yup, it's SM12 - I typo'd and didn't proof read while working.

McElrath going to maddparts?

What's up with Bloss having complications with his surgery?

I feel like Beta should get someone like Dean in on the seat next year. He is a good test rider and can help them develop the bike while also hovering around the top 10.

Justin Hill could make sense as a target as well.

I really am pulling for Beta - I hope they can get someone like KC11 to get the bike up to scratch for a higher level rider - they should be able to get like a Christian Craig or Malcolm Stewart if they can get the bike decent. Or even someone moving to the 450 class — Anstie when he moves up.

His gloves make it look like he was just changing his air filter. Hope he has a mechanic!

They are SX only. Doing outdoors was never the initial plan.

This is not meant to be a dig at Dean but I can’t ever say I’ve heard Dean and good test rider in the same sentence, unless the word “not” was in there as well.

Dean staying with Konsky in some way seems to fit his path the best. Dean is getting into his Justin Brayton era, getting money races around the globe. Konsky has Honda connections all over and can line him up with bikes/support whenever he goes. The Dean gets to do Australian Supercross, World Supercross (if it sticks around), and whatever select US events he’s into.

As far as a BETA test rider,  paging Ryan Morias or Josh hansen?

i feel SM12 best bet is to go to Madd Parts…

He gets on a significantly better bike than Beta and the one hes on right now. He did well on the Rocky MTN KTM a few years ago.

Also Madd Parts seems to be making really good moves. They locked down Noren for next season and looks to sign Shane. Those are two very proven main event guys.

How can they afford to pay riders? Surely SM12 would not be making that much if any salary? It’s crazy to see this weekend he went 21-21 while sexton won. Only a few years ago they were battling for a sx title
