I built a data logger (hardware, software, application software) that captures GPS and vehicle ECU data (RPM, throttle position…). The logger was intended to be used on a motorcycle, but can be used on any type of vehicle. The hardware goals of the project were: small size, light weight, and low cost. The application software goals were : closed course race optimization, vehicle notebook, vehicle maintenance log (including hour meter for any component), vehicle setup log, and ease of use. GPS and ECU data is logged at .1 second intervals. Components cost 36 dollars. More details regarding the project can be found in my blog: https://dcriffraff.wordpress.com/

Very, very cool!
That's really cool. I bought some components to build something like this years ago, but haven't had the time to put it all together and write software.
Which µC did you use and how did you interface the ECU to capture your data?
The vehicle information is retrieved via the CAN bus. Works for the vortex ECU and my test mule (toyota)
You've got some rad projects on that blog!

That's awesome. I don't understand all of it, but that's awesome.
Here is the data logger mounted on a CRF450R. Not sure why this didn't get included in original post.... Racer,Engineer but not IT
Yea he does.
Sick blog!
I’d love for you to share the hardware and software specifics if possible. I looked for a way to contact you though the blog but didn’t see anything.
We seriously need to leverage our synergies to catalyze disruptive innovation in order to maximize the algorithm and achieve sustainable data.
Super cool!
