What would you call it then?

Second overall, one place ahead of a rookie.

Anyway you look at it, a rookie is leading the way, Jett is second, and Chase is third. The only thing straight up, is Sexton on the bottom step looking up at Hunter.

Ha!

Holy shit, Chase wins a moto and everyone loses it all over themselves.

It's just a frikkin moto in a motocross race.

A motocross race in a year long series.

I think there's very few here who just sit back and enjoy the show, no matter the outcome.

Both jett and hunta were totally spent during & after the 2nd moto.  In contrast to chase being ready to do a 3rd.  Then in the post race thingy, jt interviews Johnny O who says something to the affect of "I'm the best trainer blah blah".  I found it funny.

For real. Imagine needing a cope session over Jett dropping a moto.

Oh we know you know hard it is, you've been experiencing it since the 2022 Motocross Of Nations......

In all seriousness though, lets everyone calm your tits and appreciate the battle at the front. 3 guys within 3 points and theres a story to them all...

Jetts not 100% healthy and obviously struggled the second moto for whatever reason.

Sextons still figuring out the new bike outdoors but has the potential to cause an upset this year.

Hunter has the red plate which i'm pretty sure no-one picked at the start of the year.

Pretty awesome stuff really.

The real winners here are Redbull and Alpinestars.

Chuck in Cooper as well and they've had an amazing outdoors!

I am glad Jett isn’t a big puss like some of his fans. You have to give it to Jett, for a guy who almost never loses when he does drop one he doesn’t make a million excuses like his fans do.

To everyone that everyone that keeps saying Chase straight up beat Jett, why is everyone only talking about the second moto and not mentioning anything about the first moto where he finished 17 seconds back?

how old are some of you … it’s like listening to my 11 year old rationalize things to me. it wasn’t straight up because he was injured? WTF? looked straight up to me, both rode the same track at the same time!

“Well, how did I get here?”

That’s all a rider has to ask himself…especially when he finds himself on the ground like Jett did at Hangtown.

Sometimes we take chances and it backfires on us. That’s what happened to Jett. And he injured himself. All the while, seems to me he’s still won plenty of races and is still doing the best he can.

If I’m not mistaken, even Johnny’O said, at the end of the day…Saturday,”No excuses.”

So, sure, Jett’s sore and struggling a bit. Hell, Chase has had those days, too. It’s all part of the game.

If you’re our on the track? Well, that’s about as “straight up” as it gets.

Just ask Johnny’O.

I guess let’s draw the line on what Straight Up is?

Did Jett beat coop straight up for the SX title?  Coop had a thumb injury, guess it wasn’t straight up?

Please help me understand?

Because people are grasping at straws.

Plenty of guys in here have waited for this for over a year now, and now they take it in every way they can.

Age old debate and ebbs and flows depending on the rider and fans.

Ultimately, and in my opinion, if a racer qualifies, lines up at the gate, starts and finishes but doesn't win those that finished ahead of that racer beat that racer straight up.

If a racer qualifies, lines up at the gate, starts and finishes, wears a prosthetic leg, but doesn't win, those that finished ahead of that racer beat that racer straight up.

If a racer qualifies, lines up at the gate, starts and finishes, has a prosthetic leg, and wins, that racer won, straight up.

Jett was beat straight up on Saturday, 2nd moto.

This is a great example of why I don't interact with Jett fans that often.  How about give credit to Chase for a great moto and leave it at that?  Instead, everyone is reminded, ad nauseam,  that Jett is not 100%

Over a year? I clearly remember Chase lapping Jett at Hangtown. Lapped him in Supercross too

95% are cool beans and keep things in perspective. Unfortunately, the other 5% make enough noise that it appears they're the majority. It's best to stick with the real majority and hop away from the others. 🦘

How can anyone not be a fan of the whole Lawrence package. I didn't figure Hunter to be this good on the 450 so quickly.

Fortunately for we observers, the racing will continue.

As I stated, for the last ten minutes of moto 2, Chase was a man among boys. He was flying!

Yes JL was/is injured. Yes JL went 22-0. Yes JL is SMX, SX and MX champion.

At present, we have three open class riders within 3 points of the lead. May the best and fastest man win, even if it's Hunter.

Sexton crashed twice at the beginning of last years outdoors and missed a round he was a little injured then but do we say the opposite to Jett? No. Sexton crashed in SX had a small injury do we say that all SX.

all the racers deal with injuries at some point in the careers it’s part of racing motocross stop saying he only won because he was nursing an injury is some bullshit.

If you put an asterisk on Chase’s Southwick moto 2 stomping of Jett, then to be fair you should put an asterisk on Jett’s 22-0 season—during which the entire 450 class was decimated by injuries including Chase who started ‘23 mx with a bad concussion. Just keep it consistent.

Chase is making hay while the sun shines. 1 moto is a very small sample size, but Chase realizes injuries can and will affect championship results (see SX 2023). Not saying Eli handed Chase the title (you gotta be in it to win it), but both Tomac and Jett suffered “unforced errors” that played into Chase’s hands.

I wouldn't even call Eli's injury an error. He didn't crash or make a mistake, just had a freak injury.

Jett was absolutely an unforced error. Busted his ass trying a downhill triple he didn't even come close to clearing

Exactly. In this sport, championships are about staying healthy as much as anything else. Dungey was another one who capitalized on his competitors’ errors many times.

Yes, me too but most of the fans wrote that off because of Jetts crash but i guess we can hand pick the motos where the injury counts and not.

I remember Chase beating Jett at the first SMX round to. But i guess that speaks how good of a rider Jett is when we have to make threds about him getting passed in one moto while injured.

Kinda weird the Jett nut huggers wanting to leave geography are from Australia.
