Here's a flashback, I remember one year at San Diego SX there was this normal triple followed by a small double into a corner. MC turned it into ridiculous by quading the thing into a landing that was so small it cannot be described, then a bunch of other guys trying to quad it, well it was more like wad it. They ended up changing the section before the night show. MC did it lap after lap after lap.

How old are you zook? How much racing have you really watched from the 90's? Have you watched it recently? I've been watching some recently and they were hauling ass. The style isn't that much different today than it was back then, just the bikes...and hell...if they opened up a corner a few feet so there was an inside line...MC would kill them. None of the newer riders know how to take an inside line like the guys did in the '90s because the tracks have changed.
You can wrap up all the SX champs it would be an incredible battle all things being equal---meaning they grew up at the same time racing the same bikes. Champions are champions for a reason. MC was the greatest SX champion and won't be dethroned for many many years. James had the best chance and that's not going to happen.
MC had to beat his teammate who happened to be the reigning and three time SX champ (daunting I'm sure). And throughout his career, the majority of his wins were in dominating fashion. RD didn't have to battle his title against any champions. He earned it for sure, but he took it from no one. Start drawing MC comparisons if RD takes 7 of the next 8 titles.
And anyone suggesting MC didn't have the competition (ironic considering this season's M.I.A's), his dominance wasn't suggestive of a lack of talent around him, its a credit to the talent in him. Listen to anyone that faced him, he was frustratingly untouchable. I'm not taking away from RD at all. The guy in 20th in the main event is crazy talented, let alone the guys that win races. Titles are immeasurable! But to compare at this point in one young man's careers an insult to the legacy MC left behind. RC didn't even come close to a SX comparison with MC and he dethroned him!!!
Dungey came into this season as a solid pick for top three. He did benefit from injuries to 7,22 &2.To Ryans credit he kept himself out of trouble and was consistently fast all year. He earned this championship fair & square, but he cant yet be compared to The King!
