If I didn’t see it myself earlier today I would have thought that was photoshopped

Agreed. Couldn’t believe I was seeing it.  Had to rewind the video and take another look.  Simply unbelievable.

Asking for trouble. Having things like this even close to trackside during a race can result in horror crashes. It's happened in F1 before.

Ask Matt Moss about that shit.

It should NEVER happen.

Wasn’t there video of that floating around somewhere?

Come on,  a flat straight,  the tractor is working the start straight 50 feet off to the left when the riders are arcing right..in what scenario do you guys see a rider hitting that tractor?

To further my point,...a beer garden at Washougal is closer to the track then that tractor

Tell that to the insurance company, if shit happens.

you’d have to be a pretty big goon to get over there when theres a straightaway which is relatively smooth which also curves to the right a little.

Relax guys....    The check to host the event cleared.......  It's all good.  We only promote the perfect example of how this sport will be shown on the global stage.  BTW, the tractor operator was paid well for his TV shot.....  John Deere included.  We promise.

This may be true, but it’s still not out of the realm of possibility. How much time was saved by grooming the start while a race was underway? Does it justify even a minuscule risk of injury?

These guys are inches from each other off the start, they get within a foot or less over MASSIVE jumps, but the dangerous part of today was a tractor 50’ away from the closest rider? I’m just not seeing the hazard.

Geez

There was a lot of other equipment a lot closer to the track, plus overhead structures held up by brace cables that were a lot more likely to get hit than that tractor.

The circumstances in any of the other stuff mentioned have to be completely different.

Unbelievable. I missed moto 1 and for some reason this didn’t make the highlight reel 🤔. We are headed to Idiocracy levels faster and faster these days.

Just like some 15 second board girl walks casually across the track.

Because 30 seconds earlier it wasn't there, and the fully track was clear.

That’s the whole point. It’s a live race track. Yes, there’re hazards everywhere there, but they’re in the same place the 1st lap to the last.

Watched them do this and thought “Cool, they’re trying to start prep early on the start for the next moto because we don’t have an intermission” then watched the tractor slowly get closer to the uphill straightaway and thought “oh no that’s way too close” 😅

I appreciate the efforts from the track crew and glad nothing happened but the optics didn’t look great.

The tractor is on a track with a race underway. There is nothing between the blade, the wheels the ripper and the rider.

The comments above include appropriate concerns about this as well as complete dismissal of any possibility of hazard.

It's a hazard that no rider should have to contend with.

I grabbed the screenshot with two riders in the screen,  it's pretty hard to see the guy on the Kawi, you can see he is closer to where the tractor is going to be - pretty damn soon. A lap or two earlier there were three guys competing for first place on this piece of track where the John Deere now is. Pretty damn close to it, at least.

The tractor guy is not to know whether one guy or 17 are going to come around the corner next.

The tractor is still moving forward and is converging on the line the riders are taking.  The tractor should not be on the track at that time, at all.

I find the case for the plaintiff.

According to the vitard lawyers equipment on the track is the only justification for an injury lawsuit yet here we are at the highest level doing it over and over again.

Still not justified for a lawsuit, the riders saw it the lap before and should have pulled off because it’s no longer safe to ride on the track. Their choice to continue riding on a track with equipment near by.

If it was dragging screech behind it, every damn one of you would be cheering for the tractor.

I thought it looked bizarre as well, but far off of the racing line not to be an issue.

Gopro's on the helmet are dangerous, but tractors on a live track are ok... just saying
