According to his latest "Tweet" he's miserable because he's suffering from allergies and dealing with freshly RE-BROKEN ribs.

He's soldiering through the season and his determination may earn him 2nd place in the supercross series. Who would have thought that at the beginning of the season?

The better question is, what's the best answer to prevent broken ribs? And why do so few of the pros wear any kind of upper body protection?
I know I'd be interested in hearing the opinion of several different pro riders regarding how they think they're protected enough by a thin piece of fabric covering their internal organs.
Obviously we've got mandatory helmet use, but there are actual testing standards and certification there. Unfortunately, there's no such thing for neck braces or chest protectors, and the beef I've heard about mandating use of neck braces or chest protectors is that it adds liability to the AMA.
I think Hill will be in good shape for a ride in 2011 fo sho.
time to sit and heal...get healthy for MX.
Pit Row
He insists there was no open-air opportunities for him - didn't even bring up any one-offs.
A healthy Josh Hill proved he could hang with the Ryans on the West swing before getting hurt early in the East swing and trying to work thru his injuries..
Kudos to Josh Hill for a valiant effort riding more of the series hurt than not.
I wish Josh Hill the best in holding down 3rd overall for the series.
You will immediately have allergies and begin sneezing, every person you know will become a comedian and the laughter will help you remember which ribs are broken.
Most of the riders start out with chest protectors but as they become faster and eventually turn pro they start to shed the protective gear so they can feel "more natural" on the bike. It's when they leave the bike that the decision becomes suspect.
Many will continue to wear knee braces, but aside from the helmets, goggles, boots and gloves nothing is mandated.
Mind you, it's not like ribs are hard to break... they flex and move more than any other bone by design...
IF there was to be a mandatory neck protection rule, who would be the people to start the testing process? HANS has a certificate from someone I assume, could the AMA approach them?
But back to the pros, i noticed Pourcel wears one, and a couple others, i personally think they all should. I also don't understand why some of the pros are not wearing the Leatt brace, but thats for another thread that could easily reach 1 million pages, lol.
