Weston finished top 10 in his first pro race, and in the 450 class.
Correct! I don't understand alot of the people here. This is the kids first go at the nationals and it wasnt to hot.. however he still has a long career ahead of him and will improve and be better… also people may not know the hardships they don't speak of. So It's best to step back, and observe with couth, For he hasnt had a moment of truth yet.
You heard a different monologue than me. In the one I heard he went to the extent of directly insulting the team manager.
Problem is the hardships he DID speak of. Mostly the fact he couldn't post whips to get shallow validation on the internet. A little hyberbolic? Yeah. But listen to the Pulp interview and draw your own conclusions. Steve set the bar for when he does show up, and he did NOT perform.
He was on a factory team. Instead of leaving OR being let go, and then putting his head down and showing up and getting points, which you'd think a former factory rider could do, he performed absolutely terribly.
Is he a bad kid? Nope. Is there a lot of drama following him and the teams he's been on? Nope.
Does there seem to be a passion and dedication to put in absolutely everything he can? Also, nope.
Side note: Andy, I get you're a family friend defending and trying to put positivity out there for a kid you probably see as a little brother or nephew, but man he's not doing you any favors with his interviews or results.

The hardships of getting a factory ride because of who your father is and then getting upset you can't throw whips on Instagram?
He has a Twisted engine so it’s as good as it gets for a privateer. Not factory level obviously but it’s pretty good.
Look at Coty Schocks race this week. It’s hard to overcome factory power outdoors no matter how good the rider is. The best thing he can do is get laps in and build a base all summer and show up indoors ready to do something. It’s going to be hard with as high profile of a name and situation for him to just log laps and not worry about the noise. Self inflicted or not. The kids in a tough spot
Cody went 19-17 man. Literally TWENTY places better than Ferry. A factory motor ain't going to make that difference.
His spot is self-inflicted. That's why ALMOST everyone has little to no sympathy for him. If he had put something out there about how Triumph just wasn't a good fit, but he was super thankful for the opportunity and he will take what he learned and just race, I think people would be pulling for him.
I mean... isn't that kinda what he did?
Seems like he was pretty upfront that it wasn't a good fit, it's just that the lynch mob has grabbed onto the comments he made about social media and is running with it...
It's very, very apparent that many people here have never been in a career situation to have to sign an NDA.
In my opinion there was a lot of fluff added in his Pulp interview. I understand the NDA restricts what he can say, but what he DID say did him no favors.
The social media stuff he talked about isn't surface-level if you ask me. I have a 16 year old athlete, so I get that side of it, and I understand social media gratification and validation is a REAL thing to these kids, unfortunately. What I heard in that interview is without that he wasn't able to make progress and put in the work, which is another issue.
I don't know the kid or or his dad, and by all accounts they are quality people, but Evan himself just doesn't seem to have that x-factor of making it happen. He put the spotlight on himself and got in the fishbowl willingly by going on Pulp and trying to spin it whatever way. If the NDA was there and they knew all he was going to be able to say was what he said, then man I would have thought someone would have been wise enough to say don't do that interview....just put your head down and get ready to race.
It’s for sure really hard for a privateer to compete against factory bikes but to get points on a good privateer bike is possible. I think Coty needs to adjust to the pace of 250 outdoor that is higher and closer in speed. Those younger guys rides way different than the experienced 450 guys.
I had a few friends over the past 10 years scoring points with privateer 250 bikes and they had wayy less hype than Ferry.
For now I don’t think his bike is the issue to finish better. He can be 20th with the same bike.
So, how are we looking with a clean start?
5 seconds off and faded after lap 3 unfortunately.
The countdown to quitting is on.
He'll set the record for most team changes before getting inside the top 20.
Not showing in Moto 2
If you fade after lap 3, you don't belong on the gate.
Pit Row
You have to want it, really want it. No one can want it for you. Ferry doesn’t want it.
Lasted 3 motos before quitting.
Unless there's a mechanical they somehow can't fix or he's injured, his name should at least be on the scoreboard.
Excuses coming in 3,2,1
I don’t see Evan racing for very long.
Looks likes he’s gonna be asking do ya want fries with that order real soon
Complained couldnt post on Social Media, but now hasnt posted since May 24, and nothing mentioning Rd 1, trusting the process, back to work, nothing. Seems odd. Wish him luck and hopefully figures it out, but maybe he is realizing this isnt his dream. Time will tell.
I think we are beating a dead horse at this point.
Howsaboot we just let this play out and see where he is at at the end of the season rather then doing a little dance every race on his grave?
No reason to pile on fellas. Hopefully he keeps making the motos, it’ll get better.
I get what the kid said on pulp was bad, but yall rooting for his demise says more about you.
Indeed, @ML512 maybe it is time to lock this topic up.
Some riders just take longer to adjust to national race pace.
THE Jeff Ward, it took him 7 years to win the 125 National Championship! If i remember correctly he was lapped 2 or 3 times at his first national (correct me if I am wrong)
Don't give up on the kid, our fellow MX brother.
