DOJ announcing right now an antitrust lawsuit against Live Nation.

Due to stranglehold and Over pricing on ticket sales.

Live Nation can lick my bag. They banned patrons from bringing in their own lawn chairs, and then raised the price of a chair rental from $5 to $20 from last year.

Everybody loves capitalism until they can't afford it anymore.

I think unless there’s a monopoly in a certain market.  Capitalism works great with competition, not stranglehold.

Yes because socialism has proven time after time to be so affordable.

What an ignorant statement.

Fair point.

Is there something stopping someone from being competition with Live Nation?

That's a real question, I don't have any idea.

Hard to believe Pearl Jam fought them 30 years ago.

Where did I say anything about Socialism?

Or were you just looking for a way to lash out and make yourself feel better?

LN has sewn up the venues, tickets, artists and production. Nobody is able to compete. Pearl Jam tried to tour without them in the 90's & it was a total failure.

They've needed to be looked at for a long time but I'm sure the right people are getting paid not to look.

This.

My wife worked in the promotion (concert) business for decades and the word was that venues and artists dared not try to involve anyone else or they'd be blackballed and unable to participate in the market - no LN artists would book at those venues and no LN venues would book "rogue" artists.

Sounds like a textbook case of anti-competitive practices. Who knows why it's taken this long to get the situation looked at, but it would be wise to follow the money and see what transpires.

What we have in this country is nearly unregulated capitalism. The natural result of letting corporations and their lawyers write the laws and buy the politicians. It’s the American Way.

Yeah, because that works well anywhere that has it.  Talk to a Canadian...or look at tax rates in other countries that have it.  The $ has to come from somewhere and when docs are forced to provide care for pennies, the level of care drops signifcantly.

What we need is an open market to get rid of the regulations and open enrollment etc.  Healthcare should be like car insurance with companies competing for your business and the amount charged to hospitals etc should disappear altogether.  This is why an aspirin is $20 in a hospital.  The whole cost system is jacked because of insurance companies being able to set the pricing of the provider. How ridiculous is that?  Imagine if you were a company that ordered for your office at Starbucks and you tell them the latte they charge $6 for is only $2.50 and they have to sell it to you for that?  That sounds good on the surface, but their revenue loss would be made up on the backs of every customer.

Capitalism is great, but we live in a monopoly and the people tasked with running the country work for the corporations and not the tax payers.
