I thought he was going to ride the last few rounds - wasn't he supposed to come back at Nashville? Did something go wrong or did he just choose to sit out and prep for Nats?
Busy making off the wall statements on Insta
Forkner is a good rider, and injury prone. He started pro before Jett Lawrence. Now as four years have flown by, Jett is the guy. Multi time 250 out door champ, multi time 250 lites Supercross champion, 450 outdoor champion, and now Supercross Champ. Forkner had nothing behind his name. Time is running out. Forkner should move up to 450 class, or he will end up as 30+ Like RJ Hampshire, or a permanent fixture in 250 class. He has supercross winning speed.
He can't finish half a season, why would he move to 450s with double the races? Everyone know if you can win races in the 250 class you will make a lot of money. Move to 450s and be a be around 8-12 guy and make next to nothing. I'm pretty sure no one here would move up in their work position and also take a huge pay cut.
I believe the source on that was Cooksey, so no surprise there.

"next to nothing"
Ok smart guy here are the 8th through 12th place riders so why don't you tell us all how much they make or in your words "next to nothing"
8 51Justin Barcia
9 96Hunter Lawrence
10 27Malcolm Stewart
11 7Aaron Plessinger
12 14Dylan Ferrandis
Thanks for organizing 8th threw 12 for me as i was just throwing a Average area out i think he would be in. Now that 8th threw 12th is laid out I guess I should move him back to a 12-15 place guy in the McElrath category. A guy that does not win the title in 250s usually moves up and has subpar results for a few years and bounces around teams and is retired shortly after. Or he can stay in 250s and hopefully one year doesn't crash out and wins the title makes a bunch of money has all the hype to move up gets a good ride for a couple years worth a bunch of money.
Every single one of those dudes has won at least one 250 championship, some of them much more than that so not a great comparison
Because, I think these guys moved up just after they won 250 titles and moved into factory teams.
I can't see a factory team taking on Austin, sorry, but true.
I think someone would on an incentive laden contract with an injury clause.
I’m sure Pops will be in here in no time to clear things up.
OK so how much does McElrath and his category make ?? I think you very much under estimate how much most of these guys make. Nic Wey who never won a SX/national and was a privateer for several years at the end of his career was still making over a million a year(from Nic Wey interview)
He said 8th through 12th not me, I just looked up who finished the SX series 8th -12th
I've been on his socials. Doesn't give much info other than he is back on the bike. Is he in for the Nationals?
It sucks lately the way its gone. When he went pro, it started with him making dumb mistakes that caused his injuries, but the last 3 years has been some of the dumbest luck I've seen in Supercross. First Jett has a rare crossrut right next to him and wipes him out. Then the greatest fluke of a race start I've ever seen, and now his contact falls out mid race causing a big crash. When the worst things imaginable aren't happening to him, he's done great. Really hope we see him outdoors and he can put together a full season without something terrible happening, because if he can I think him and Vialle could have one hell of a battle.
I mean his contact fell out and he kept riding at an insane pace. That falls into the dumb mistake category if you ask me.
so the answer to the original question is: "Dunno". Do I translate correctly?
I think he ended up getting Lasik, and you can't be riding for 30+ days I think because your flap is not healed and you cannot get dirt under that, or will ruin your vision. So I'm sure that had something to do with the delay.
Pit Row
. . . and he got off balance on the start and kept it pinned instead of checking up.
But I agree there was nothing he could do about the Jett cross jump.
That's not entirely accurate. His accident in Arlington was due to Jett being a bit of a dumbass. Not intentional, but the way he was making passes there (AF would've been his 3rd pass in that section that night) left ZERO room for error. With AF, he cut it too close and Forkner paid the price.
According to the pulp mx show mcelrath is making 120-140 everything combined. These guys are 1099 so take about 1/3 off for taxes pay trainers and all other stuff and your making minimum wage being a professional sx racer. I'm sure forkner is making more than that sitting on the couch.
I would take the figure with a grain of salt. I think they were just spitballing there. I’d hope it’d be more then that.
no one in the 450 class on a factoryish team should be making less then 250k a year IMO.
Austin was riding really well, I hated to see him go down like that. I felt that he was finally able to put it all together. Tough kid, he’s had a rough go.
a couple other up and comers that didn’t get to where they were expected to get-
Stilez Robertson
Jett Reynolds
Talon Hawkins
Ryder D
Then you have a few amateurs that should be making a name for themselves soon-
Gavin Towers
Parker Ross
Caden Braswell
it’s not easy to break in to the big leagues. Some have a tougher go than others .
Towers mentioned that he doesn't even know what his future holds. I'm going to assume he's out at Star.
Braswell might be coming up to Canada this summer.
This was talked about on the Pulp Review pod the other day. Steve says he knows what McElrath gets from HEP (obviously doesn't include his gear deals etc) - $120,000 -$140,000.
Come on! Forkner has only won one national in his whole career and his clearly much better at SX. On the odd occasion when he races outdoors he struggles to make the top five. Vialle is a two time MX2 World Champion.
'Should' has got nothing to do with it. It's a free market economy. Riders get what the market determines.
Robbie Reynard was another blazing fast rider that missed out due to injuries,
I know Austin has more wins, but I feel this outdoors he must perform or he'll be forgotten.
He was scheduled to come back then something else happened.
That’s bummer for Towers. There have been plenty of stand out racers that only get one shot at a solid team.
Justin Hoeft is one of those guys. TLD let him go and he’s been on a few privateer teams and then moved over to the Off-Road world, much like Zach Bell.
