Arenacross Bike Transport Boxes

Went to the Daytona AX round and saw the guys racing on the pro day had bike boxes that held a bike, maybe an extra set of suspension and wheels, and a decent amount of tools.

Just curious if anyone has any information on what the cost of it is, process of signing up for it, etc is. They all got unloaded at the same time, maybe 3 hours before first practice, plenty of time for everyone to put a new chain and clutch on. Trying to see if it's something feasible for future years. The bikes were all clean when guys were pulling them out of the boxes, so they had to get pressure washed somewhere (can't imagine at the stadiums. if other convention centers are anything like the tight asses in daytona, not a single pressure washer is allowed within 100ft of the property).

Appreciate any information on it. Curiosity is the main part of the question, but would like to see if it would work for select rounds in future years. Braap

I believe the series was charging $3,000 for the entire season. I’m not sure of any pricing for just doing select rounds. Send a PM arenacrossinsider on here for more specifics.

Looks like a flimsy box, not sure if I would trust my bike in it. It should be made with 1/2 in at least. I hauled a few boxes with elevator parts, some r hidden under the curtain. 1 had nothing touching it and it had a hole. I think my foot did it climbing around the ld securing it.

$3000 is what I recall hearing for the price. Not bad considering they can drive a car or fly.

MXGP use large heavy duty containers to transport the bikes, parts and tools. I have pictures somewhere of the containers at the Charlotte USGP.

That’s after 10+ hrs throwing chains etc on 3 cooks lded suicide . Reason it’s called that if you tap the brakes the coil snap the chains like a tooth pic & run rt through the cab. B4 that was unsecuring a pain in the butt ld of transformers. Parked just west of pigeon forge mtn pass 45,50 max speed 4 trks do to roll overs. It was another severe weather storm with lightening & thunder cracking all night. I swear that Tx. Storm has been chasing me all week. I went through the LL area del just west . Inside a bldg into a pit with a 180 decibel winding sounding machines with the doors open . It was well ovr 100 in there with 80% humidity & dew point. Then drive to Memphis where it was hotter to ld giant steel bars. I hv no idea what I,m doing , haha. I pay attention to drivers that know what there doing , some r amazing on getting everything secured . And strong as hell. They all hv super rigs Large cars extended hood 379 Pete’s custom paint ,ect. They know I,m 1099 by the looks of the Clampet rig. But I hv a lot of enthusiasm and I,m cool to everyone. So they didn’t start any shit. And I,m drenched in sweat & covered in grime so they know I hv enough punishment. Pretty much everyone is working Super hard & don’t hv time to judge one another. It’s really dangerous freight. It’s a Chicago 1099 rig so everything is bent ir broken. The trl is a battle just like 1 thing . The straps hv so much salt in beaded into the fabric they don’t flex. The ends r steel probably heat treated. There wider than the rug rail slot , so I hv to scrape the alum of the trl to get them through. Thick rubber is below the rug rail you hv to bend that into the slit & get the end  clamp threw. I dislocated my thumb a few times. I beat the clamps with a 3 lb hammer on the 1st ld, it didn’t do much. Only other thing I could think of is put them under the landing gear & bend them shut more. But you only only do that when ldng or unldng. And there’s no time, it’s as fast as you can go , you hv to keep moving. I. Actually like the hard work but I think a rest period should b mandatory after your done. Your wiped out , soaked in sweat like you jumped in a lake. then your driving with crazy people with sweat salt burning your eyes , etc. That why I never did flat bed because of all the hrs of work for free. 10 yrs at the pipeline job I did but I was paid hourly. Hell I lded 30-40 trls on rigging down. I quit ther in Feb 98 so it’s been a while. There a couple race cars keep burning there tires by us trying to sleep here. So I think 3k is a bargain to ship that shipping box. Even tho the shipping rates r garbage . A trl full of them will only get 1,800 to the trk. So the co is making the money. It’s not a Guiness creation a shipping box . They’ve been around for hundreds of yrs. The pallet factory probably made 80 bucks building them. Everybody wants a piece of the pie. The most important part and by far the most dangerous is the transportation. It’s so weird the worst paying part is that. A lot of freight is being stolen the last 3 yrs. The driver is responsible for keeping organized crime from steeling  a strangers bike. If people only knew what was involved. I wouldn’t pull a crate off until I got a few hundred in my hand. Or I would say well I,m leaving and your bike can disappear real easy . Actually I would hv it in the contract a delivery service fee of 400 is due apon arrival, cash only. Same day delivery is guaranteed, excluding situations out of contractors control. Weather , traffic, accidents , stops at strip clubs, personal issues or needs. Lol

I remember the Suzuki pit boxes at the Charlotte GP being different and cool.  Pictures at 11 if I can find them!

I work in Logistics and my company has shipped a few new cases that hold a bike (with front wheel removed if memory serves) tools, extra suspension etc. Definitely more than a wooden box. One was shipped to from a race track in IL and the others went to an Arenacross event. This is the company that made them:  https://www.badgercase.com/
