I finally got my suspension done and I can't believe the difference. No more twitch and head shake, bike is calm entering corners now. Now I can say it is an improved bike over the 22.
Nice what did they do? Any spec of the mods?
Was just about to ask the same thing. I'm finding mine very busy in the front end on choppy braking bumps.
2 spring rates stiffer in the forks, with 380cc of oil. 106mm of sag, I know my guy went stiffer on valving on both ends. The stock stuff doesn't feel like it's super soft, but it kinda is. Now I can hit stuff and not worry how the bike will react.

So 0.54 springs in the fork? I have a set of 0,52 springs that i might try when its time for oil change. just need to ride some hard packed tracks to get a feel for it first.
Hows the comfort of the fork with that stiffer setting?
Just came off full Factory Connection suspension and finding the stock 24 is like mush.. although only have one hr on the bike at this point.. I’ve adjusted to Keeferinc mods on initial ride and the sag to 105 mm since we are same weight
just took it home and readjusted it to my old FC settings to see if any difference at all..
I found that going to 2.5mm forks above the clamps really helped with this. And it seems to be better everywhere. Worth a try
Windy hill?
I agree with the stock stuff being soft, it's hard to tell how soft it is until you ride one the has the suspension done. I do feel like the stock 24 is much better than the stock 22.
I thought the stock springs were .50, my guy installed. 52s. I'm also running my forks from flush to 2mm.
I think a lot of you guys could get away with just springs and more oil.
Yeah I'm running forks flush which has helped. To me it's more of a harsh feeling in the hands on the small chop. Feels good on bigger hits it's just short sharp small stuff nearly rattles the bars out of my hands. I'm running 5.2nm springs, 350ml oil and a revalve.
Stock is 5.0nm which is 0.51kg
I reckon your right, I wish I tried just springs and oil before I got a revalve aswell.
It’s the Ridge NCMX back last June..used to be Devils Ridge in Sanford
I’ve raced Windy Hill also, that’s a great track.. they recently reversed direction, added some more features
they racing at ECMX this weekend.. that’s a great track to race also
OK, used to race there when it was Devil Ridge. I've been doing some local races the past few years. I'm 2 months away from having my first child, so Sandusky the racer has left the building for now.
Any racers with young kids feel free to give me advice.
If you want to try something before spending a ton of money on a revalve, try this first. Set your fork oil volume to 370 or 380 ml. I accomplished this by taking the fork caps off and adding 50ml of oil to each fork. I used the RT spring rate calculator to get the correct spring rates for the front and rear. The correct spring rate is more important than anything else. I’m tall and weigh about 215, so I ordered a 6.0kg shock spring from RT and ordered a single optional stiffer OEM 5.2nm spring (a stock 5.0 in one leg and a 5.2 in the other equals 5.1). This got rid of the twitch without making the bike harsh. Things may change once the racing season begins next week, but at this point, my $200 fix took care of all my complaints and I don’t think I’ll need a revalve. If you send your suspension out to get it done by someone, you’ll have to get the correct springs for your weight and riding ability anyway, so you might as well try this first. It might save you a pile of money. I think the stock fork valving is much better than the prior generation.
So far, I really love this bike and can’t wait to see if this feeling translates into contingency money next weekend!
But wont the fork feel harsh with that high oil level? Good tip tho, i used to run 1 0,52 springs and one 0,50 on my 2019 kx450 so i got those springs still.
Nope. That’s what everyone has been running in those forks even when they were on the previous gen Kaw. Higher oil levels stiffen up the bottom of the stroke to prevent bottoming. The stiffer spring causes the bike to ride higher in the stoke which prevents that “twitch” or headshake. If you take them to get revalved, they’ll set the oil level at 370ml. I had Race Tech valving in my ‘19 (same fork) and that’s what they spec’d for oil volume.
Best part is, if for some reason you don’t like it, just suck or pour the 50ml back out.
It’s actually closer to 350 on a revalve
Feel dumb but has anyone else had a hard time getting the mufflers and cap off? Want to take the baffle out and I can get the cap to pull out about a half inch and then it’s pretty stuck, nothing to really grab onto to pull
Pit Row
I've ran 380 on my last 2 bikes.
Try some heat and wiggle it out, mine wasn't too difficult to remove.
2024 KX450 Red Blue and Green Y kits now in stock.
Some gentle taps with a rubber mallet can help or a piece of wood dowl that fits snug down the end then use that to wriggle the end cap around.
@ML512 or any other suspension guys know, can you run the older a kit shaft/clevis in this production body like a 19-23 or is the shaft and/or clevis a different length?
How about the comp adjuster?
this airfilter looks like the most over engineered piece I've seen in a while.
Not to mention the price tag
Would have loved to a least see a little billet somewhere for that price
Spring rates are a little confusing on this bike. Race Tech has me 5 rates off of stock (lighter). I'm 175lbs VET / A-B So this thing is sprung for a 200lb intermediate rider?
What spring rates did your tuners or yourself end up with based off your speed and weight??
No black hoses?
